We began this venture in 2012 by purchasing 35 acres overlooking a 7000 acre homestead that was sold to a developer who is selling acreage from 35 - 500 acre parcels. We are located on the beautiful eastern plains of Colorado southeast of Denver. Rolling hills dotted with Ponderosa pines that encourage wildlife to settle in. Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mount Evans are all visible on clear days. We have 35 acres and raised alpaca’s until recently, chickens, cats and dogs as well as a large garden. We are totally off grid and enjoy life in the home my husband built using trees he cut down and milled on his sawmill. We lived on the property in a 400sq ft cottage while building the house. We have numerous camping spots available in a small grove of Ponderosa Pines or on the plains if you want a clear view of the stars at night! A rustic outhouse is available close by as is a water hydrant. Parking is available close by. We added the Bijou Tree House to our options a couple years ago! It is a one room cabin (sleeps 2on a queen size built in bed) with an incredible picture window that frames Pikes Peak beautifully. It is nestle among some old Ponderosa Pines; sports a cute but tiny wood burning stove; bar table in front of the window; deck with seating and a propane camp chef 2 burner stove. A hammock is available for use and private outhouse just a few feet away. We love sharing our story, our home and the beautiful place God has gifted us with people from all over the world and hope to host you as well. Come Camp and relax. Watch and listen to the birds; the deer and antelope really do play here. Just this morning two little fawns were chasing each other through the gully. We are blessed with beautiful sunrises and sunsets; stars at night and an added bonus is our Farm Store where we showcase products made from our alpaca's, and trees my husband has cut down... !

The main level couch will fold down and become another bed platform. We provide a CordaRoys transformable chair, that unzips and becomes the bed topper (plus extra sheets, blankets and pillows). Some of the kid guests like to sleep in the Gnome room in the "pop-up" tent and cots (during the Summer months). Such a gorgeous spot! Great for novice campers to get a more indoorsy experience while still secluded and cozy. They have everything you could need to enjoy your stay: water, chairs and picnic table, a few board games, butane stove and fire pit, etc. It does get warm on especially hot summer days but we propped the window open for a bit at night and it was perfect!

We all enjoyed the treehouse so much! There were activities for everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, so no one was ever bored. The sleeping accommodations were comfortable, and the treehouse décor was absolutely adorable and thoughtfully designed. The hosts had everything set up perfectly for movie nights, and we ended up having two during our stay—which the kids absolutely loved! The hosts were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. If you’re looking for a fun, unique, and memorable treehouse experience, I highly recommend checking this place out. We can’t wait to come back!

1 night at Private 120-Acre Horse Sanctuary

We had a really lovely time staying here. My husband and I booked a one night stay with our two dogs to get out of the city and unwind. We are big animal lovers and it was such a special experience to see all the happy horses, mules, and donkeys on the farm. Many came over to say hello when we walked by! We also saw a group of cows across the way that were very cute, and many types of birds, deer, wild turkeys, and even an elk! We kept our distance of course, but it felt like every time we looked around there was a new critter to watch. The tent was very nice and had wonderful amenities that made the experience stress-free. We especially liked the electric cooler. And it was nice to be able to have a fan at night. We felt very welcome and would definitely like to return.

Weekend Trip to Private 120-Acre Horse Sanctuary

I spent three June nights in this comfortable, well-appointed glamping tent with a wonderful tea selection. Candice and George are lovely hosts who thought of everything and brought me so many delightful treats. I didn't do much cooking but I could have, the site was so well equipped. I was too busy visiting animals to cook. I tacked an hour long donkey experience onto my stay and made the rounds each night, meeting dozens of horses and mules and donkeys. Heavenly, the donks are my favorites. I also saw a few pronghorn including a baby, a vole, reptiles, and a flock of wild turkeys roosting in the trees nearby (surprisingly not very noisy at night). I counted at least ten bird species. On a full moon night, I heard coyotes and great horned owl (the tent had earplugs, plenty of blankets and pillows and a nice bed so I still slept well). And I met some wonderful volunteers and their dogs. There's lots to do within an hour's drive, especially if you like food and physical activity. I caught a free outdoor yoga class, farmer's market, zipline adventure park, lots of good food in Castle Rock and Parker, a serene forested hike in Larkspur. I also spent a lot of time at the campsite in the hammock, catching up on my reading. Don't miss this spot, it's such a gem with kind people, incredible animals and beautiful nature.

Tons of animals around, and Dan was incredibly kind — he spent time with our daughter teaching her about the wildlife and nature on the property, which was one of the highlights of the trip for her. This was EXACTLY the weekend getaway I was hoping for with my 2 kiddos. The setup was simple yet had all the little amenities you'd need to make it a super easy packing trip. The yurt tent itself was perfect for the 3 of us. There was a cot and mattress pad for my boys, we just brought their sleeping bags, pillow, and blanket. The queen mattress was comfortable and even had a heated feature which was lovely! There was a small fridge/cooler, charge station, hot water pot, Keurig coffee, and a large water pitcher that lasted us all weekend. Outside the tent there were chairs, a table, a propane gas fit pit for roasting marshmallows, and a tree hammock which my boys loved. Right next to the tent was a dry bathroom that was interesting to use but worked fine for our needs. Nice to have something close. Waking up to the sounds of birds was so relaxing. We took a walk around the property and got to say hello to all the different animals. 10mins away is Elizabeth with a Safeway and some restaurants and 20mins away is Parker with a larger plethora of food options. George and Candice were gracious and responsive hosts who do great work for these animals. I cannot recommend their glamping site enough for anyone who wants a stress free experience out in nature!
