Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

Mac’s cabin was a comfortable and beautiful experience. We enjoyed each moment that he came by and spoke with us. He took the time to check in on us with friendly laughter. The restrooms and showers were very conveniently located. The amenities like the microwave and heater were very handy. At the end of our trip, Mac was very friendly enough to leave us with hand picked tomatoes and a watermelon from his garden. Not to mention that I made an oversight on our trip dates and Mac was more than accommodating to push up our stay and adjust the dates. He’s very helpful and his campground is top notch across the board. Highly recommend would come again.

Loved the small cabin. Very quiet, its got a call breeze coming in all directions, and a loud sound of the small creek waterfall. The bed is so comfortable, and relaxing. Small porta is good, and the shared bathroom at the main house is clean with hot water, its a win-win with a good price.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Wilderness Bridge for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The farm is peaceful and beautifully maintained, offering a relaxing environment throughout our stay. Matt and the people living on the farm were warm and welcoming, and their hospitality made us feel at home. We especially enjoyed the friendly dogs on the property and the stunning views that surrounded us. The Wilderness Bridge itself is about a 10-minute hike, and the view at the top is truly remarkable and well worth the effort. Overall, this was a memorable stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet and scenic retreat.

This was the perfect tiny cabin for access to Bass lake and parts of Yosemite. Literally minutes from Bass like and surrounding hikes. Highly recommend Angel Falls, especially during the summer heat. Cabin will be very comfy year round with the excellent little heater/AC unit, but when possible, I highly recommend falling asleep to the waterfall ambiance with the windows open. The little deck table is perfectly positioned for privacy and a view of the waterfall, well thought out design. Parking in front of the cabin is down a pretty steep decline, so having AWD or 4WD is helpful, otherwise you should back-in and use a bit of momentum to get up the slope. There is also room to park on the side of the road and just walk down to the cabin if needed. Would like to use the campfire ring behind the cabin next time outside of fire season.

We stayed in a bunk cabin with our 9month old baby and had a great time. Mac is a wonderful host! The twin cabin is small but great if you wanna camp with some amenities i.e. ac, a mini fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. It was hot out in July, about 90 degrees during the day, but the cabin stayed cool with the ac. Rainbow pool was very close and a great way to spend the first day in. Recommend hiking up river a bit. There a lots of spots to hang out not just the big main hole with the waterfall. Yosemite is about an hour away and always so beautiful. This is a great spot for families looking for a quiet, safe spot to camp near Yosemite.

We loved our stay at Matt and Eve’s farm. We stayed there 3 nights so we could go to Yosemite. So much quieter than the Valley. We took the YART into Yosemite each day leaving Groveland. No park reservations needed! The buses were empty. Our final morning we hung out at the farm and learned so much about raising sheep and homesteading from Matt and Eve.

Wonderful weekend "glamping" spot near lots of hiking & food! Perfect for two. Cozy cabin! The sound & view of the hidden falls was so peaceful. Bed was on the firmer side and bathroom situation was a bit odd but we worked through it. Would have loved to have a fire but CA is dry in June, so thinking another trip in fall/winter may be in order!

Very cute, comfortable, and quiet. The falls, which there are two of, overshadow any road noise from the canyon. Driveway is a bit bonkers but I’ve seen worse. We didn’t find where to put trash or anything but didn’t drive around much to look. The road below ended where it looks like a crazy weirdo lives so I’m glad we saw the “ammunition expensive so we shoot to kill” sign on the way out. Would suck to have some children rolling around exploring and happen upon that crazy dudes property by accident. Also my son struggled to find a spot for his small tent outside and had to do it on the small wood porch, so we cut our stay short by a day.

Our cozy cabin offers modern amenities, including a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, and a gas BBQ on the front porch. While there's no stove , ** we provide a side burner on BBQ along with pots and pans for your cooking needs**. Relax in comfort with a Queen bed, 2- twin beds in the loft (accessible via a library ladder), flat -screen Smart TV with Cable, and WiFi. An air conditioner is provided both upstairs and downstairs. Please note, the loft access via a library ladder may not be suitable for children under 10. While there isn't a full kitchen, we provide a mini fridge and a kitchen sink for your convenience. Enjoy the ambiance of the floor-to-ceiling River-rock Fireplace with Duraflame logs (provided) during non-restricted months (November - May). Kindly refrain from using the fireplace during extreme fire hazard periods ( May - October) as per regulations. The is a WiFi network available but coverage is weak. Deer and turkey sightings occur frequently, and hiking trails are located on this 10-acre wooded property. Two seasonal creeks also located on the property which are typically flowing until early June. There is also an Airbnb cabin located on this wooded property about 100 yards uphill from the camp. The site is centrally located about between Oakhurst and Bass Lake about 10 to 15 minutes away from either location. The south entrance of Yosemite National Park is about 25 minutes away.

Guest House with well stocked kitchen (2 fridges, stove/double oven, dishwasher, back deck bbq, sundries), smart tv, fireplace (we have tons of wood), air conditioning and free wifi (works perfectly 99% of the time). Home is one floor with front and back porches. Our unique property is an old working ranch with 35 acres of meadows, an old cabin, barn, natural springs, an inground pool, hot tub and swimming cistern. Our guest house is near the road and easily accessible but still very private. Roads are flat and parking easy. You have full and private access to the house, hot tub and pool areas. Near the pools: outdoor shower, sink, lounge chairs, covered and sunny areas. Our pools are not heated (and do not have the ability to be heated) and are covered in the winter months (November to April). Extra large living and dining room. 2 couches, 2 large dining room tables, smart tv, bluetooth speaker, games, pub table.
