3 nights at Starry Hot Tub/Cold Plunge Glamping

Ellie and Jack set a really high bar for our first time using Hipcamp. They were incredibly responsive to any of our questions and made the experience super smooth. We were in awe of the set up in and around the tent the whole time during our trip. The tent was super cozy and comfortable, the outdoor shower was amazing, the hot tub under the stars was memorable, and I could really keep going. Lots of stuff in the area to explore and after 3 days there is only feels like we scratched the surface. Looking forward to going back sometime soon!

2 nights at Private Yurts - Nevada City

Magical yurt in the forest and also super close to the city. We really enjoyed the amenities here like the kitchen and the fire pit. The yurt was warm and cozy. We had a great time staying here.

What a beautiful stay at the East Yurt! Feels completely private and secluded, but just a short drive from all Nevada City and Grass Valley have to offer! The chickens and goats on the property were a plus!

We'd highly recommend staying at Nathan's yurt in the woods! We spend 3 nights there with the intent of a relaxing getaway, and felt very refreshed afterwards. The yurt certainly met the definition of "glamping", as we felt both immersed in nature and also pampered by the clean and spacious yurt, private restroom, and fire pit + hot tub outdoor oasis. The setup is very tastefully done. There is quick and easy access to Nevada City if needed/desired, although we felt like everything we needed was already at the site. Depending on the season, our only recommendation would be to plan to use plenty of firewood. Especially if you are trying to fully enjoy the firepit, indoor stove, and hot tub, you may end up using quite a bit. The hot tub itself definitely took several hours of continuous fire to get to a comfortable temperature, so plan on plenty of wood and getting that going first thing (or having Nathan help) if you plan to use it! Thanks for hosting, Nathan. Looking forward to coming back sometime!

We had a great time staying at the Yurt. There were 6 of us, there to celebrate a Birthday. The outdoor kitchen was great, having everything needed to cook. One gas burner on BBQ, pots and pans, plates, utensils, big sink, good sized fridge/freezer. It was overcast/rainy so the string lights never came on, and had no idea if we could turn them on ourselves. Glad we brought extra TP. We had a great time!

Great little cabin, just far enough from town, but close enough for drinks and food if needed. The hot tub is great, we stayed in the A frame cabin outside of their yurt season, so we did not have to share the hot tub with anyone.

1 night at Rollins Lake Retreats, A/C & WIFI

The stay was amazing, the directions were also perfect. It’s a very cute cabin perfect for a weekend getaway. We loved the outdoor bathtub- we actually booked it for the outdoor hot tub but unfortunately it wasn’t functional because of the weather but we had fun anyway even without it because it was cold outside and also raining. The bath tub made up for it !!

This is a very special property, and we thouroughly enjoyed our stay. Make sure to take advantage of the hot tub/cold plunge. Close to town, but just far enough out. A-frame is very cozy, and small, but just big enough to make it a romantic dance. Loved the wood burning stove, and robes!

Soak in a cedar hot tub and Renu cold plunge nestled in an oak grove, then sleep in our A Frame or one of our two luxurious yurt-like tents. Venture into the clearing with open skies for truly amazing starry views at night. It's a peaceful retreat surrounded by pines and oaks, yet is still less than 15 minutes from the historic Gold Mining towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley. A composting toilet is housed in a beautiful, well maintained outhouse and a heated outdoor shower is located next to the hot tub and cold plunge. These as well as the hot tub/cold plunge area are shared between our two sites. PLEASE NOTE: While many guests have found each spot to feel private, it's important to mention that these are located in a large clearing behind our house. Our property is lakeside at Rollins Lake In Colfax. We live on over 30 private, beautiful acres with footpath access to Rollins Lake. (3 minute walk from the dome or house, and 10-15 minutes from the cabin) where most summer days here are spent swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing ect., down at the water. Please note the Cabin is set on a seasonal CANNABIS garden. All three sites are vacation spots with AC and WIFI, not just simple accommodations, but experiences. The remarkable property is very hilly with pines and oaks. You can follow our driveway to the bottom and access the beginning of The Bear River which has a nice hiking trail alongside it or drive 8 minutes to the nearest boat ramp and 10 minutes to the town of Colfax where you will find gas, groceries, and restaurants. We have a beautiful spot where you will not see any neighbors so it is peaceful and private with gorgeous 360-degree views. It is also very safe! Bask in nature, quiet, and privacy! In summer there is a 3-night minimum for the cabin and dome. Occasionally a two day midweek will pop up on the schedule last minute. To see correct pricing, enter your dates as they can fluctuate with holidays, weekends. Prices are decreased midweek. This magical and private Yurt in the woods are just 2 miles from Nevada City Come experience the Beauty of the Sierra Foothills and the Yuba River in our Yurts tucked into the forest just 2 miles from downtown Nevada City. With a natural creek right outside your door and hiking trails right off the deck, this serene and beautiful yurt retreat awaits you. Nevada City is renowned for its excellent food, shopping, nightlife and farmer’s market. A leisurely walk into town takes 45 mins, bike in 15 or drive in 5. Grass Valley is 10 minutes away as well and has more food, shopping, and entertainment for you. Access to the Yuba River is as close as 20 mins to Edwards Crossing and 20 mins to Hoyts Crossing on Highway 49. We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax. Each yurt has a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm. Each yurt has a kitchen that is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc. Each yurt has a Queen bed with a heating blanket to help keep you cozy throughout the night. Each yurt has its own dedicated wood-fired hot tub. It requires a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot. Things you might like to bring: headlamps, robe, flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes. Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious. The hot tub: it’s wood fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there! This tub may have leaves in it (they fall from above) and cloudy water. The water should NOT smell, the cloudiness is a part of the cedar tubs charm- ash from the fire and particulate from the cedar mix together. We treat it between guests with natural products that maintain the wood (you can’t use chlorine in these tubs). We clean it regularly. Shower before using it to wash off any oils and sweat in your body please! The outdoor shower is lovely :) Fireplace: We will leave you a bundle of wood that comes with the rental. If you need more wood you can purchase it from us or from the grocery store. We have lots of wood at the yurt and we ask you to pay $10 per bundle if you use more then we leave you inside. This is on the honor system- It takes a lot of time and resources to keep wood stocked for the property. If you don’t know how to start a fire you may want to bring an instant log with you. Please leave the lighter behind for the next guest. Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights, It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. This is a real treat during our hot summers. There will be a fan for you as well during the warm season. We live in the woods, there are bugs and wild animals on/or near the property. This is part of the country charm and should be expected. Please don't leave food outside. Land acknowledgment: We acknowledge that our property is located on unceeded land. Overview

Straddling the California/Nevada border, Lake Tahoe provides a variety of camping options for intrepid Hipcampers. Looking for a summertime beach and sunshine experience? Aim for Zephyr Cove, which sits on the Nevada side of South Lake Tahoe. Stay at the RV campground for easy access to beach volleyball and boat rentals at the connected resort.

If you're more into sightseeing, head for Emerald Bay State Park on the California side. The big tourist draw here is Vikingsholm, a gorgeous Scandinavian-inspired estate that offers guided tours. There are also some out-of-the-way sights to see at Emerald Bay. Scuba divers can examine the remains of century-old boats and barges in the Underwater Area.

Lake Tahoe State Park sits in Nevada on Lake Tahoe's northern side. This one's good fun for campers who enjoy spotting wildlife. Take the beginner 2-mile trail around Spooner Lake to see waterfowl and osprey. There's also a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe available from the Sand Point Nature Trail.

Coming to the area in winter? Check out Camp Richardson on the California side for some killer cross-country skiing. There's no need to bring your own equipment, either. A full-service recreation sports center rents skis, snowshoes, tandem bikes and more.
