You’ll reconnect with love ones since the cabin has NO WIFI but does have a wood burning stove and miles of trails to walk on just outside of the front door. The cabin is conveniently located just minutes from the north entrance of Lassen National Park. For entertainment, I have a TV (no cable)/DVD player with a selection of movies, board games, and reading material including a few books and magazines. There is timber land at the back of the property with plenty of trails to walk or ride a mountain bike (if you bring one). Lassen National Park is a short drive away. Also nearby is lake McCumber. I have a wood burning stove inside that you can use for a fire. Absolutely NO FIRES outside. There is a fire ban in effect, thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I have a propane BBQ outside that you can use, along with a picnic bench and other outside seating. I will provide a selection of tea, hot coco, coffee and oatmeal to get your day started. Be sure to bring food with you since the nearest grocery story is about 9 miles away. I will provide a basket of firewood to use during your stay, but it's a good idea to bring extra since it will go fast. Because you're in the forest, there is limited cell reception so please plan accordingly. I've found that Verizon has some signal while AT&T has none. Since it's meant to get away from it all, not having cell service might be a good thing. :) The master bedroom is on the entire loft floor so there isn't a lock or door that separates the main area downstairs. Just so you're aware. There is a door and lock on the guest bedroom downstairs. All you'll need to bring are your personal items, food for your stay, and extra firewood! Once booked, I will send more helpful tips and information for your stay a week prior to your check in date. Dogs - I allow dogs because I believe they are part of the family, but please notify me if you intend to bring your dog prior to your stay. If there is high wind in the forecast, the electric company, PG&E may turn the power off for safety reasons. They usually notify me a day in advance and I will let you know right away, but I wanted you to know that it might be a possibility during your stay. For Winter Guests: A 4 wheel drive vehicle or car with chains is HIGHLY recommended to travel to the cabin. The main road is paved but there will be snow/ice in the area. Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like. One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks. After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around. If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING IF YOU'LL BE SLEEPING IN THE TREEHOUSE. And need I say anything about hiking on Mt. Shasta?

Weekend Trip to Cabin Hideaway

This is the second time I've stayed in this beautiful cabin. Each time I've extended our stay. It has a cozy feeling once you step inside, and you feel right at home. The owner is super easy to contact when you have any questions or concerns, and she's super sweet to chat with. The only complaint I have is the Hipcamp app itself. The property owners that use this app has a lot of difficulty reaching out to me or being able to get on the app itself. So you would need to make sure that you have an alternate way of communicating with management because this app is unreliable when it comes to that. Highly recommend staying here!

Weekend Trip to The Goat Shed

I had the loveliest time in the goat shed. The space is small but well kitted out with the basics, like battery powered lights, a propane stove, water, dishes, towels and extra blankets. But when I arrived, I also found some extra treats, like nice lotion, oracle cards and hot water left out so that I could make tea when I arrived on a cold night. Johanna couldn't have been nicer. I will 100% come back the next time I'm passing through.

Honestly we loved it. It was obvious how intentional you were with building it and how much love went into the space. Things we loved: - remote: just far enough away from everything that it felt like we were away from the world but close enough we could get things if needed. - patio: great outdoor space - pillows: I seriously wanted to take your pillows with us. Best pillows we have had on this trip - GOAT Shed: the story about the goats was a perfect touch Thanks for helping us have a great weekend getaway.

What an incredible story this place has. The owners have clearly followed God's creative direction and created a heavenly oasis in the middle of the Trinity Alps. The highlight for sure is rafting down the river, which I didn't have enough time to do. This is def a family camp, stay for a few days kinda place. My studio room was big and clean and had everything I needed microwaving my dinner and a quick breakfast. Although you could happily be fed every meal and drink at the cafe!

The cabin is super clean and at a very cheap price. We ended up extending our stay. Very close to miles of trails in the Mount Shasta area and restaurants nearby if you want to dine out. And the owner is very sweet and easy to contact if you have any questions or concerns. Highly recommend.

My wife and I came here last year, just the two of us and fell in love with it (and our hosts) immediately. We planned to bring our kids for our next family trip and they had a blast so another visit was in the xards. This time there were enough campers for Scott to fire up the pizza oven and make some delicious pizza for everyone. Scott is a wonderful guy, he has made special effort to accomodate us each time we've been there. This time he went and got paint for my daughter to paint rocks with. We all love Camp Stoney Meadows and look forward to our next visit

We were second time at Stoney Meadows. We love the place. Cottages are very nice, kitchen well equipment, shower and bathroom very clean. For us like private retreat. Hosts and staff are very nice and helpful. Valley and creek are very pictures. It's are best place for vacation.

Beautiful land with obviously great views. The treehouse is surrounded by, well . . . trees, with a door and porch looking out onto a meadow. Sitting on the porch with some coffee in the morning was perfect. Much of the road back to the property is flat gravel but the last part is a really rocky, bumpy road. Drive slowly and carefully and reconsider any vehicle with minimal clearance.

Scott and Nora have created a magical landscape to explore like you’re a child again. Every part of it consists of beauty and thoughtful intention so you can fully enjoy nature. The Bunkhouse had AC, windows for ventilation and comfy cots! They give you keys to lock your rooms. A mini fridge and microwave are available to you as well. It truly felt like magic being there. We enjoyed the stream directly in front of our bunkhouse. A walk and a few steps down a hill away, is a DARLING swimming hole that we enjoyed - complete with inner tubes and a chair provided by the host. It was absolutely stunning. The shared bathroom, shower and outdoor kitchen was so clean and well kept. This was my first experience using this app and I think I got extremely lucky with finding this place. There were children running around unplugged from technology, playing in the stream, riding ATV’s and they were just as welcoming as the hosts themselves! This may be a no brainer as well, but seeing the sky at night in their open field was probably my favorite part of the stay. I had never seen so many stars in my life. I hope that when I have kids, this little place is still running so I can bring them here to experience the magic I did.

This was my second time staying at Shasta View and it is such a special place! Very comfortable, and beautiful spots to camp. It is an extremely short walk to the meadow where the mountain is (1 minute), and it is such an incredible view. Plenty of shade in over 90 degree weather for us. The camp kitchen is well equipped and spacious - we loved the sinks for dishwashing. The stream water was clean, cool and refreshing on hot days as well. Feels like you are pretty removed from civilization but town is only 20 minutes away and it is a maximum of 35 minutes to all main attractions around Shasta. Directions were a bit confusing but we all found it and had a great group trip!

I love the rustic cabins at Dunsmuir and have for the past 20 years. They are sweet, ramshackle, and super old-timey in the best way. They have totally updated the check-in, the pool, the beautiful courtyard and the sundries in the shop which is so nice. But thankfully they left rustic cabins, rustic.

We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to go back! If you love being off grid with a super friendly host, then you’ll love it too. Scott was the sweetest and checked in with us every morning. We unfortunately didn’t get to meet Nora but I heard she’s just as kind. We felt safe with the dogs watching over the property day and night, and they even tolerated our high energy puppy in training. The kids enjoyed swimming in the watering holes and creek to cool off as did the rest of us! The only downside was coming back to all the emails and texts that I truly didn’t miss!
