It's so nice to "meet you" my name is Taryn and my hubby's name is Anson. We are parents to two-year-old twins, so saying we have our hands full is an understatement. Anson is a folk and blues musician and has traveled
all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees.
Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Previously the farm had been let go and now our duty is to get it back in shape. We are making steady progress and fall in love with the land more everyday. At 10,833 feet in elevation, this is the second highest peak in California. There are two ways to get to the summit. You can hike the whole thing or shave off about 6000 vertical feet by riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Either way, the summit is not to be missed.
For a real challenge try the epic Cactus to Clouds trail. It was rated as one of the hardest day hikes in the world by Backpacking Magazine. Its 21 miles take you skyward through sub-alpine forests, mountain meadows, snow-dusted crags, and gnarled granite. An alpine start is required to avoid the midday heat so be prepared and take plenty of water.
Campers have plenty to choose from. The San Jacinto area offers two drive-in campsites, four hike-in primitive campsites, and adventures for every brand of wilderness craving. If you want to backpack to the summit over a day or two try the Deer Springs Trail. This park has adventures for every brand of wilderness craving.

(Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

OUR STORY
Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. We challenged ourselves to learn sustainable and organic farming practices, and the emphasis soon changed to how can we share this journey and all that we have learned with more than just our children.
So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher.
One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home.

Play with baby goats, chickens and rabbits. Explore the property and star gaze at night without light pollution from the city!This was an empty lot that was first purchased in 2014. We are the second owners of the property and want to be as self sustaining as possible. We are on a well and have converted to solar power. We will be building up the camp sites as well, gradually adding more amenities as we go to create a unique experience for our guests.More about me:I had a great and successful career at a very large CPA firm in San Diego but with city living comes pressure and stress. Due to deadlines and even more stress created by the partners of the firm, I ignored what my body was telling me. I put off going to the doctor for months telling myself I didn't have time and, after this next deadline I'll get a check up.I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle but I wasn't doing it fast enough. We closed escrow on the property in October of 2016 and that November I was in the ER. I almost died. Spent my birthday and Thanksgiving in the hospital.Soon after that I quit my job at the CPA firm and started working from home. Still suffering from complications, that summer in June/July I ended up in the ER again. Even closer to death this time. Since then I've turned around my health. Focused on life on the farm. Raising my animals, my garden and creating a unique experience with the campers. I enjoy sharing this life and my home with like-minded people who want to escape the city and feel a little closer to nature.

This Hipcamp exceeded our expectations-it felt like a thoughtfully designed little oasis. The space had distinct areas that made it feel like a true home away from home: a cozy living room setup, a spot for meals, and a perfect campfire area, all tucked away in a really peaceful, secluded setting.
We hiked up to the lookout at sunset (highly recommend), visited the pigs, and got to meet Atlas, their sweet rescue dog. Our pup was absolutely in heaven the entire time.
Shane was incredibly responsive, welcoming, and easygoing, which made the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Brought our Trail Life troop here for a weekend campout — couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The views are stunning, especially at night under the stars. Caleb was an amazing host: responsive, accommodating, and genuinely cared about making our stay great. Plenty of room for our group, the amphitheater was perfect for our gatherings, and the boys had an unforgettable time. Highly recommend. We’ll be back!

We booked this spot mainly for its proximity to an event we were attending, but it ended up being such a pleasant surprise. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and clearly well cared for. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and kind, which made our stay feel even more comfortable. Our only regret is that we didn’t have more time to stay and fully explore everything the property has to offer. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to others!

We stayed at the Shadetree Overlook and it was a great camping experience away from the city noise and lights! The hosts were very friendly and helped us set up the propane fire pit. The eucalyptus trees were perfect to string up a hammock and provide a little bit of shade from the midday sun. The sunset views and nighttime stars were delightful! Wish the bathrooms were a tad bit closer especially in the middle of the night, but only about a 5 min walk away so we made do. Overall we had a great and peaceful time!

One of the best parts of our campsite was Shane and Nicole. They were the absolute most responsive hosts I have ever experienced. They were so communicative, kind and helpful. The campsite had a lot to offer and had a ton of extras you could add to your site. There was a beautiful, tiled table, a fire pit area (fire pit is extra, but I brought my own), an outhouse with a hand-washing station and a lovely "lean-to." There is a nice flat area for a big tent. The site is very quiet and private. The pièce de résistance was the view. Absolutely stunning! Temecula is only 30 minutes from the site. We spent the day walking around the old town, visiting Sugarplum Zoo and wine tasting. There are just a few things I want to make individuals who want to camp here aware of. 1. They are not kidding about the need of a four-wheel drive. The road is all dirt and very steep in some areas. 2. There is no potable water. They have a hand-washing station, but I recommend bringing a lot of water. 3. Shane and Nicole have their dogs secured and are very respectful. However, there was a neighboring dog that visited our site. He was so sweet, but the problem was he ran in front of and alongside our van during the drive from the site all the way down the hill. Shane was very responsive and the dog's owner came to collect him. I highly, highly recommend this campsite!!

What a beautiful ranch! Amazing views! The campsites are huge and very private. The amenities are amazing with bathrooms, shower, tables, water at campsites.

I had a fantastic stay at the Mary's Zen Retreat! I needed some time to myself, and that's exactly what I was able to get at her place. Thank you, Mary!! Everything was so naturally beautiful, the bunches of flowers spread throughout the property, spaces just to kick back and breath!!
I will definitely be coming back for more peaceful, relaxing camping.

Beautiful property with gorgeous panoramic views!! David’s gracious hospitality was above and beyond. Very clean restrooms with a shower available for everyone to use which elevated the whole camping experience to the next level. Would definitely come back to this beautiful property again.

Amazing to say the least! I would definitely camp here again. I could see my neighbors but i couldn’t hear them. That’s how far we are spread apart. I love it. Thank you for bringing back the experience of outdoors.

Zen ranch was pretty dreamy. Nice night sky’s, quiet, peaceful, and the land is lovey. I stayed in my van so it was a nice middle ground between camping and glamping. The outdoor shower was super fun (I love outdoor showers in general). Also Mary is super sweet! A gracious host that has created a cozy vibe. I’ll definitely be back.
