You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional. Also, the site is still a work in progress so there may be some lumber and areas of the site still in the process of being completed.

There is no sewer septic available. All RV campers need to be self-contained and include any needed amenities such as bathrooms or showers as we do not have these available on our facility. Do not dump your grey water or septic anywhere on the property. We allow dogs but they must be picked up after and leashed at all times. Please keep noice level down with dogs. We prefer you walk them off the property for them use the bathroom. This is an excellent location to watch the local sunset. Our house is at the top of the hill.

If you read any review let it be this one. It was an absolutely gorgeous property very easily marked spots. Awesome hosts very good produce and maintained property. The spot is right in front of a cow enclosure they are very friendly. There is a beautiful koi pond. My only grievence is that we didn't stay longer. 10/10 property.

So Cal Campground was perfect for us! We were lucky to be the only campers there in early December 2025. The facilities were perfect since we were from out of state, and needed a clean facility to get ready for a wedding we were attending several miles away. It was much more memorable than a hotel room. Definitely had owls very close by in the night! So peaceful. There was some slight road noise but it was very minimal. A sanctuary for sure. Very good vibes, and Lacy was so welcoming and helpful. No facilities (although the gazebo was nice), just a water spigot. And a lovely walk down to the pond.

The property is beautiful. Bernie and Hoa were both super nice and social. Fresh eggs, fruit trees, palm, wild bunnies and cows. We were there for 3 weeks, and had plans been different we would have loved to stay longer. We will be back when we are in the area.

What a slice of paradise Bernard and Hoa share with the campers. They are friendly, generous, and accommodating. Their property is just a few blocks away from the cute town of Ramona, CA! Marinade on Main is a favorite restaurant nearby. Their property is secluded, secure, and peaceful behind a coded gate. There are three camping sites that are quite large, and several tent sites. The grounds are well maintained. We enjoyed the proximity to downtown San Diego, La Mesa, Santee, and our son’s home nearby. We were able to stay at Thompson’s Palm Farm quite a few days as there is water, electric, and septic. We will return again and again!

Secluded, good for a family trip. Would recommend putting a grill as other campsites had one, but 16 did not. Definitely look into the weather to take proper gear and all equipment needed. Would come back if given the opportunity again.

We had an amazing time camping at Ed’s place near Lake Elsinore! The site was clean, peaceful, and easy to find. The sunset view over the lake was absolutely beautiful, and the stars at night were incredible. Ed was a great host—he gave clear directions and even checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this spot for families or anyone who wants a quiet getaway close to nature.

1 night at Splitrock Farm and Retreat

My son and I did a quick "get away" camp to Splitrock and booked the Hilltop Hideaway. Because it was our first adventure here we only relied on reviews to figure out what site to chose and to get a sense of the property itself. Having just retruned I can say we were absolutely blown away and had an amazing time. My son confirmed that after having been to about 110 campouts together in California (including Big Sur, Napa, San Elijo, etc.) this by far was our favorite and the most spectacular of them all. Reasons being many including insane views, privacy of site, beautiful property, A+ bathroom and shower situation, and the big kicker being the friendly animals and how well the roads and sites are taken care of. Just can't say enough good things about the place and so thankful we got a chance to stay. Plan is to make it a regular excursion until he no longer wants to go with his dad!

Rugged and remote location with lots of space to explore. The old dam is super cool. I spent two nights there and had fun adventures. Hosts are very cool with an interesting backstory. The dirt road is pretty steep in parts, so you gotta know what you're doing with a heavy vehicles.

TBH I just stayed one night, slept in the car, and left early so didn't have a full camping experience. Which is kind of a shame cause it was one of the most beautiful Hipcamp sites I've seen. It has a unique combination of large rock formations and lush, green vegetation. I was in the community area of Oak Grove but still felt like a private site. The roads are dirt, wide and well maintained. Also, this is the ONLY Hipcamp I've stayed at that didn't have ANY road noise so you really feel like you're camping. I feel like I missed a lot, like seeing the animals and hiking the trails. This place is huge, over 100 acres. High end camping but super reasonable cost.

First time using Hipcamp and had a great experience in general. Directions were sent in a message confirming the trip before I left with a google maps pin which made finding the place effortless. At the gate, they had a QR code with a detailed little map which was also nice. Plenty of signage to find the campsite. The campsite included the upper and lower section. Could fit 5 + vehicles there. Dark or city overviews available for both star gazing and sunsets. The large rocks really made it special. If you have a big rv, 30ft +, then 4wd is a nice to have to avoid tearing up there track and peace of mind for a couple of spots getting in and out. Good spot for big rvs or tent camping in the upper section next to the fire pit.

no problem getting our 2wd cars to the top of the hill, even in the rain.

We had fun at this site which is very private and secluded on top of a hill. It takes about 3-5 minutes to walk to the very clean restrooms at the Oak Grove. There are 2 large pads at this site and 1 is level next to the firepit great for Tents or a smaller RV. The bottom pad would be better suited for larger RV's or Buses. We were there during a big rainstorm and the very next morning the camp host was out in their offroad vehicle grading the roads nice and flat again. We really appreciate all the care and hard work that are put into this campground. Very fun times!
