If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake. On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink. Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. There were multiple Gold claims on this property. The Old rock pilings are still there to explore. It is a favorite spot for finding Jasper, some Agates and quartz. Campers are welcome year-round to this tent site on the old Gold Claim of our 20-acre family farm! we visited in early october. it's a great spot and jo is a responsive accommodating host! the sunset views were beautiful and a morning soak in the hot tub was excellent. light bedding is provided, so would recommend bringing your own sleeping bag or a heavy comforter for warmth if temps are a bit cooler. we hope to visit again and try out the steam room/shower!

I had a great time glamping on the platform! It was really nice to not have to worry about setting up a tent, sleeping bags, table chairs, etc. This was by far the best bathroom I’ve ever had in any camping experience. Absolutely beautiful and clean shower and toilet. I was also super impressed there was electricity and wifi! I was a big fan of the hot tub, although unless you sit back you do get a view of the other tent decks, and them of you haha. The sites without pre-set up tents were looked nice and I would camp in those another time if I couldn’t book a glamping tent; the string lights at those are beautiful. If I were staying in a glamping tent again, I’d bring my own pillow and a bright lantern, but otherwise felt like the accommodations were perfect. Jo is very sweet and super responsive. Would def come back!

This property is stunning and it’s perfectly silent. The glamping tent is perfect for a couple (we had our two small dogs with us, too). Beautiful, serene place to relax. The bathhouse is gorgeous, too. It was the perfect anniversary getaway. We saw a doe (she came back multiple times!), turkeys, bats in the evenings, squirrels, and a few frogs and lizards. Would totally recommend this place and would come back! The only downside (and I know this is beyond the control of the owners) was that on our second night around 10pm, somewhere within a mile or so started blasting music and it went ALL night and into the next morning. We could hear the base for more than 12 hours, and it made it hard to sleep. I’m not sure if this is a regular occurrence, but it was unfortunate.

Amazingly beautiful stay in Nevada city! The yurt and views were amazing! Very responsive and friendly hosts, amazing hip camp setup and we ended up having some great yurt neighbors from the Bay Area! Hot showers are a plus ! (might want to bring your own privacy curtain if you’re not a naturalist, lol) but can’t recommend this place enough!

We really liked this spot! The host was able to accommodate a super last minute booking and is very responsive. The bathroom is awesome (but could use a bit more attention from the cleaning staff) and steam room option is super fun and relaxing. We didn’t get to use the hot tub but other campers seemed to love it, we wish we had another night here to explore more and use all of the amenities! It’s a bit out of the way, but we liked that. There is cell service and WiFi. The single toilet is kind of an issue when there are big groups, tents are a bit small and simple. Not too buggy at the peak of summer. They also have a really beautiful greenhouse garden, not sure if guests are allowed in, but if we had more time we would have asked about it. They allow dogs which is a huge perk as well! Overall good value for the price! We actually didn’t expect the shower & steam room to be so awesome, it was a very pleasant surprise after a night of camping with no showers (never again). Definitely stop by!

Jo's land was so sweet, quiet, and perfect for a restorative night... The canvas tent and bed were comfortable and cozy. The shower was gorgeous and so pleasant. We stayed at this cozy A-frame and absolutely loved it! The property had everything I needed for a comfortable getaway — a shower, a hot tub, and even a cold plunge. The location was perfect, tucked away on a quiet property but still only about 10 minutes from downtown. It felt private, peaceful, and relaxing the entire time. I will definitely be staying here again, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and refreshing place to unwind.

The composting toilet was an unexpected but very pleasant surprise (very clean and quite relaxing!). We got to enjoy the hot tub after a long hike and that was lovely as well. We would definitely stay here again!

I enjoyed my stay at the Ponderosa! It went by so fast, ill have to book one more night next time. Jack and Ellie have a great set up. When I stayed we only had a couple neighbors down at Cedar so that part is dependent on your booking. The yurt had everything we needed including little extras that came in handy (a fan, some disinfectant wipes, etc). The hot tub felt nice, didn’t get a chance to check out the cold plunge. Jack and Ellie were always responsive and friendly throughout the whole time of the booking and trip. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

3 nights at Private Yurts - Nevada City

The short walk to the yurt felt like wandering into an enchanted forest, where the air is fresh and the world slows down. Inside, dimmable lights set a warm and welcoming glow, the kitchen held everything we needed, and a basket under the coffee table offered books and a coloring book (bring colored pencils) for quiet moments. We loved reading the heartfelt notes from previous guests and gathering fresh eggs for breakfast, a simple joy that made our mornings feel special. The cedar tub was pure relaxation, and the nearby rivers invited us to bask in the sun and cool our feet in the water. Every detail here feels thoughtfully placed, creating a space that restores and inspires. Our stay was far too short, and we are already looking forward to returning.

Camping at Jo's land was a really good experience. Jo's sent us detailed instructions in advance and finding the spot was pretty straight forward. The tent was all setup and clean when we got there, and everything in the bath room was also clean and functional. We had the opportunity to enjoy the hot tub and outdoor shower which are ideally setup on an overhanging deck with a really nice view of the woods. Overall we had a very peaceful and relaxing time at Jo's land, we would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.

2 nights at Sierra Sol Camp

We loved every detail about this magical retreat, from the comfy accommodation to the communal area, kitchen and baths. So fun and well designed, you can feel the love and passion that went into creating the space. Lots of great places to explore in the vicinity too! We did have one issue, upon returning from a day of adventure we found all our food was cleared out of the fridge. Surely an honest mistake… but still surprising that the staff were not aware we were staying there, even after we had said hello and everything. Added an unexpected hour long mission rushing to the grocery store right before they closed! Thankfully Deja was easy to reach and quick to help us resolve the issue. We would still return, hoping that’s a very rare slip up!

Weekend Trip to Roughlands

This tent was lovely. I thought it was going to be to far away from the activities we had planned but it was really not far out of Nevada city. It was perfect. The tent and bedding were great, easily accessible and luxurious, living truly up to the glam camp definition. The bathroom is truly amazing for a camper. It feels like a luxury hotel in the woods. It is nicely designed visually and perfectly designed as far as functionality. I could go on and on but don’t write well. I love the flowers, which turned out to be an unexpected benefit. Flowers left in front of the tent and a beautiful greenhouse / Quonset hut near platform to replenish the bouquet. Going into the greenhouse was awesome as well…it was filled with life. Big chubby bees and different birds… I will definitely return, thank you for creating a wonderful space. And say hello to your adorable pup.
