Weekend Trip to Saddle Up Camp

We had a great night camping at Saddle Up! We were on Site 12 which was well described and perfectly located for a great sunset view. The directions to the site were on point and our family enjoyed meeting the horses and goats! Perfect for an overnight stay. The owner was super friendly and next time we will definitely explore the horseback riding available.

Excellent location, clean and level sites, and truly first-rate amenities, such that you would NEVER find at government (or most private) campgrounds. Even with a basic tent setup (just always have a good mattress/bedding) it's way better than "glamping," as you have two comfy patio chairs, table, and electricity at your site, and access to an exceptionally clean and modern shared indoor space with everything you really need at home (a shower that may well be an upgrade from your home, fridge, microwave, dining table/area, coffee, tv, etc. . . and I doubt you're yurt or souped-up vintage camper rental comes with the most comfortable electric reclining sofa you've ever sat on). If you think all these comforts take away from the "camping'" vibe/aspect, then just rough it to your preference at your site/tent. No one will force you to stream your favorite TV show while reclining in the most comfortable position ever, if you're bored and can't sleep right away . . . The host couldn't be more friendly and helpful. 6 Stars out of 5!

Weekend Trip to Bowen Ranch Deep Creek Hot Springs

We went in mid June and it was gorgeous! Still got pretty cold at night as you are practically in the desert so bring a good quilt or blankets. The hike to the hot springs is amazing with some cool views. I would say its a pretty easy hike for experienced hikers but medium to hard for beginners. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and extra bags - I saw trash along the hike and down at the hot springs which is so sad to see and ruins it for others - Overall, it was a beautiful spot and much cleaner than other hot springs I've been to. Leave it better!! Leave No Trace!!

I appreciate Matt with what he's doing with the property.. I wish him and his wife much success in his endeavors to create a beautiful stay.. the property has beautiful views and I actually stayed longer at the beautiful view site.. beautiful sunrises and sunsets and view of stars above and nite life at the casino down below Those are the positives. And so future campers know there is no running water nor bathroom options (well there is 2 composting toilets in far back none at broken bones) . I'm very adaptive and made do with the morning routine.. I would highly suggest to Matt to put up an L shaped screen and a picnic table at broken bones.. Overall I really enjoyed the stay

The site was one of the coolest sites I’ve camped at in a long time. Lots of privacy and space between campers. We got all sorts of visitors from horses to pigs. Clean bathrooms and showers. The host were super friendly. I will definitely come back. The only drawback was the drive up was a little confusing. But the directions the host gave on point.

2 nights at Saddle Up Camp

My girlfriend and I had a great stay here! We stayed at site 11, which was very close and a great view of the horses, had a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and plenty of space. All the animals are beautiful and well taken care of by the owners. We highly recommend this place, and encourage tips for the hard work and expense the owners put in, and the lives they save and give a better life to. Thank you to TJ for being so kind and welcoming!

Weekend Trip to Desert Dreamland

The owner's instructions were essential! We arrived late evening (not recommended) but were able to still find the gate to the campsite. The pinpoint map link provided helped to show that the small path to turn into the campsite is before the listed address (same side of the road). The "make your own hike" was such a luxury! Plenty of space to explore, large rocks to boulder, and on-site trails provide options for difficulty depending on preference. Private and calm, perfect for our cattle breed dog to roam off leash during our hikes. Amazing view of the vista on one side, the valley/canyon to the other. So beautiful especially at dusk! The desert heat/dryness is no exaggeration-even at just 90 degrees! As forewarned by Marlon, shade structure and plenty of liquids were essential. We experienced some winds during the day, but they flowed in a stable direction. Fortunately, our shade structure held up, staking our poles down and using the stable picnic table bench for added bracing were critical. Fortunate too with the weather during the last weekend of May, as we experienced a refreshing 10-degeee drop in temp on our second day. Thank you Marlon for offering this opportunity for our family to have a memorable experience in the desert!

Cindy’s place is great! So close to the downtown area and it feels very safe. Right next to the site you have 24/7 access to a very nice bathroom and shower. A great place for 2 nights for a solo traveler. Cindy was so kind and welcoming upon arrival and very prompt in communication. Would definitely stay here again!

1 night at Saddle Up Camp

Saddle Up Ranch is a lovely, tranquil place to camp and a horse lovers paradise. My family were amazed with the beauty of these rescued horses that all seemed so sweet and friendly. We are looking forward to come back for a trail ride. The goats are super cute.

Weekend Trip to Fallbrook View Glamping Tent

We had a great, relaxing time. You’re not far from Fallbrook or Temecula if you need supplies or want a meal in town, and there’s a rugged, long trail called Montserrate if you want exercise. We mainly enjoyed the view outside our tent, reading, listening to music and cooking on our camp stove or the fire pit. The tent is roomy (Queen bed with dresser and nightstands) and there are two bathrooms and a shower nearby). Not fancy glamping but perfect for our needs. You will hear birds at night, roosters throughout the day, but not a bother. Maybe bring earplugs if you want to sleep in. Would stay again.

Anson is a folk and blues musician and has traveled all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. The "Camp-Sight"

Our property sits on top of a hill on 10 acres of beautiful panoramic views of Cahuilla and, Palomar mountain along with rolling hills of large rock formation and colorful wildflowers in the spring. On occasion you may see deer, Bob cats, mountain lion along with endangered kangaroo mice, The beautiful night sky is easy to see planets and shooting stars without the interruption of city lights. There are many trails to walk, hike, bike and horse back ride where you can discover large boulders in different shapes and sizes along with hidden caves. A variety of rocks and minerals can be found for those rock hound enthusiasts as well. At the camp site you will find a horseshoe pit ,indoor and outdoor games and treasure hunts for everyone to enjoy. If you want to bring your own set of golf clubs you can even hit some balls! Pets and horses are welcome. We provide Two horse corrals with feed buckets and access to water. There is a outdoor dog kennel. There are off road areas nearby. Bring your motor bike, quad or buggy and throw up some dirt. Not to far there is a Casino, small store and a restaurant and about 30 minutes away from the Temecula wineries. You don’t have to worry about packing up a bunch of camping equipment, our camp provides a 35 foot RV big enough for 6 people if you prefer a roof over your head and a place to sit down for a meal runs off a generator ( you will need to provide your own fuel. it is a 5 gallon capacity). and has indoor and outdoor lights and electrical outlets to plug in a fan or your phone and, there is a to use. We have a cooler for you to use bu you will need to provide your own ice. There are dishes and utensils and a toilet. and water in and outside (You will need to bring your own blankets, sleeping bags and towels). Also provided arepropane b.b.q, propane fire ring, outdoor bench, table and camp chairs. There is enough room on this property to bring your own camper, RV or tent or ? but it must be self contained. There is no electric, water or waste hook up. If you are just looking for a place to set up your own tent, I will consider the cost to be lower. Please contact me if you may have any questions. Desert Dreamland

Our family has owned this property for nearly fifty years. We currently have one site available - “Desert Mountain Scenic Overlook” - at this time. More sites coming soon! Learn more about this site: This campsite is extremely private and serene with beautiful epic views and a wide open feel. The site is located most of the way up a small mountain but at the base of a larger one if you want to hike up to the top for even better views. You can also hike down and around to explore more of the surrounding nature preserve (over 3,000 acres completely engulfing our 20 acre property), which includes a seasonal creek, granite boulders, and miles of hiking trails. You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The campsite is set far back from roads so it is very peaceful and quiet and allows you to feel free to enjoy yourselves without worrying much about noise. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional. Also, the site is still a work in progress so there may be some lumber and areas of the site still in the process of being completed.

Cold Creek Estates

Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. We are most famous for our honey, peaches and figs, but also grow apples, pears, persimmon, blackberries, greens, bay leaf, white sage and more.For years , we were WWOOF hosts (look it up ;-) and resisted opening up Cold Creek to traffic associated with daily camping arrivals, but we finally found the perfect spots for visitors to park their RVs, spend a quiet night and visit the orchard by foot.We are now excited by the prospect of focusing on expanding our micro-farming and inviting campers to look over our shoulders.

We challenged ourselves to learn sustainable and organic farming practices, and the emphasis soon changed to how can we share this journey and all that we have learned with more than just our children. So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher. One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home. With absolutely no experience and coming from a tiny condo in the city we decided to leave that life behind and buy 11 acres in the middle of no where!We weren't sure what to do with 11 acres. We don't come from a farming family but we had the drive to learn. With the help of YouTube, books, blogs, vlogs and friendly neighbors we began to teach ourselves how to run a small farm, inching into the lifestyle a little at a time.We started off with 15 chickens, many failed gardens and then fell in love with Nigerian Dwarf Goats!We found Hipcamp over a year later and in April 2018 opened up our home to strangers wanting to camp on private property.Since we are in the middle of Temecula Wine Country we figure that our farm is the perfect family friendly environment to relax in nature but still be close to some great attractions. Play with baby goats, chickens and rabbits. Explore the property and star gaze at night without light pollution from the city!This was an empty lot that was first purchased in 2014. We are the second owners of the property and want to be as self sustaining as possible. We are on a well and have converted to solar power. We will be building up the camp sites as well, gradually adding more amenities as we go to create a unique experience for our guests.More about me:I had a great and successful career at a very large CPA firm in San Diego but with city living comes pressure and stress. Due to deadlines and even more stress created by the partners of the firm, I ignored what my body was telling me. I put off going to the doctor for months telling myself I didn't have time and, after this next deadline I'll get a check up.I knew that I needed to change my lifestyle but I wasn't doing it fast enough. We closed escrow on the property in October of 2016 and that November I was in the ER. I almost died. Spent my birthday and Thanksgiving in the hospital.Soon after that I quit my job at the CPA firm and started working from home. Still suffering from complications, that summer in June/July I ended up in the ER again. Even closer to death this time. Since then I've turned around my health. Focused on life on the farm. Raising my animals, my garden and creating a unique experience with the campers. I enjoy sharing this life and my home with like-minded people who want to escape the city and feel a little closer to nature.
