We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV or eBikes for easy access to creek. 3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and tics have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak is also common. 4) The property has cell service in the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service. 5) We highly recommend bringing a chainsaw or hatchet. There is an abundance of dead wood on the property that can be gathered for camp fires. Trees also occasionally fall on the trail which can impede access to the creek.

Follow the lower creek out from the Camp into the meadow and Valley floor to find a damned swimming hole. Off-road vehicles, dirt bikes, hiking, fishing, water sports, golf, skeet, and the like are available at or near the Camp, as is LTE cellphone and data services. Alpine Valley Campsite is a short distance to Reno, Truckee, Stampede and Boca Reservoirs, and Lake Tahoe. It is located approx. 4.5 miles from Stampede Reservoir, 5.4 miles from the Truckee River in Verdi, and 17 miles from the Boca Reservoir and Truckee River in Truckee. Host highly recommends 4x4/AWD vehicle OR at least 7" of ground clearance, driving slow on dirt and rocky roads (approximately a 25-minute drive from entrance of Toiabye National Forest-Verdi, CA entrance at 5-10 mph), and experience with pack-in, pack-out camping. The tent site was perfect; it was very peaceful, with wonderful views in all directions. Wendy was super and offered to get us extra wood for the fire since the wood on site was a bit moist from recent rain. We would definitely camp here again!

Weekend Trip to Finnon Lake Recreation Area

The lake front campsites are simply beautiful. We have a Ford transit van and also a sedan. A huge tent and we still have a lot of space on the site. The campsite has a downward slope just like described but we found a flat spot for our tent. The lake is beautiful for boating and fishing. How peaceful the campground is solely depending on how other campers are especially your neighbors, because the campsites are very close to each other. We didn't have a great night the first night because our neighbors arrived at 2 am and were setting things up and talking, laughing pretty loudly. So we essentially did not sleep at all that night. While the quite time is listed on the rules but seems like it is not enforced at all. So while I love this campground, I highly recommend going during the weekdays. The bathroom is a very nice addition. Again, it's clean majority of the time but it depends on how the campers take care of it. They are dogs friendly. They need to be on leash. We got a tie down which works amazing. There's also a lot of wildlife. I didn't hear frogs but a lot of birds. We saw eagles and their nest which is so beautiful. There is a restaurant called Smoke on the water. The food is AWESOME. They also have firewood for sale. Just need to double check their business hours. The drive up there was good. Remember to pay attention the detours. The last 15 minutes was really twisty. We will be back for sure!

Terrific place to spend a weekend!! Site A2 is ideally located, close to the water and restrooms… but not too close. It was pretty booked up Saturday evening, but never felt cramped or congested. Will definitely book again👍

We stayed at A12 with two dogs and a 3-1/2 yr old. Lots of space for the dogs on a tie out and room for our grandson to ride his bike and have his hot wheel cars out. We did bring a shade tent with screen as we had our A Line camper. The set up was kind of odd as the table seems to have been moved way up the hill from the fire pit and the grill. We didn't use the grill but I would not have liked it very much if I had planned on it as it had those star sticky weeds all around it. The sight just needs some weeding but the space and the view of the lake was fantastic. The bathrooms were clean. Water spikits close by. Nice trip and we will go back if get the chance.

Our stay at Elly's property was amazing! The spot was spacious, we had 6 tents and there was plenty of space between them. I really appreciate how secluded it is -- we didn't see a soul. The water tank and the bathroom stall were very convenient and made the camping experience more luxurious. There is a fire ring but no grill. The gravel path to get to the campsite is a bit rough but not too bad. However, I do not think path to the creek is accessible with a regular vehicle -- we had a Wrangler so it was a fun adventure. We saw a small bear in the surrounding area so we put all our food and toiletries in the car and had no issues. I would 100% stay here again!

The camp ground and lake were beautiful. The bathroom were clean. Toilet paper, paper towels and soap to wash your hands. Also lights in the bathroom. No shower which was very hard to do. But we all enjoy the time spent at Finnon lake. We will be coming back next year.

Unexpected camping trip and booked last minute but had an amazing time. Even though we had an idea that it was going to rain we still went and it was perfect! We got there at dark around 8pm and we found our spot right away. There were probably 3 other parties but it felt like there was barely anyone especially the next day. It rained around 1am until the next morning but it was super calm and relaxing. The views of the lake are majestic and the birds chirping just made it magical. The diner nearby was a cool sport and grabbed some sausage sandwich and the staff are very nice and you can sit outside the patio with beautiful views. Would recommend and book at this campsite in the future again!

Host,Lorrie, is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area for places to hike wander and play in the river. Very much in line with outdoor ethic and leave no trace concepts. What a lucky find this little gem is! We changed our original plans at the last minute due to inclement weather and ended up here. Clean and quiet campground, complete with a private little lake! Perfect get away place, to kayak and bird watch. There is a restaurant as well, however I did not try that as they are open on weekends only
