The outhouse that you see was used when it was first built and now is for storage. The original owner built the house himself and it was originally on piers alone with no other foundation! There is a folder in the bedroom closet of the house over the years. The decorations were here when we bought it so we kept them to preserve the house’s uniqueness. We treasure this house which is nestled amongst the trees and has so many beautiful birds that visit. Many turkeys love to stop by too! The barn is now used to breed unique crossbred horses that have gained Note-oriety, and have been featured on the cover of magazines, including the Boot Barn campaign (who intend to use the barn in in future photo shoots) as well as use famous spotted horse, Confettis American Warrior in the next ad campaign being shot in Hollywood next month. We tried to keep the barn with its original charm and added some world class beautiful horses that are available for riding around the property and/or photoshoots during your stay for an additional cost. We have extra stalls available for people who would like to bring their own horses for a unique camping experience including riding your horse in Camp Locket and along the USA/America border wall. Lots of space for trailer and very secure stalls in the barn. We are just starting out doing this, but have the options of staying in a brand new shed yet to be converted, in the barn inside an old stall to have a real authentic experience where the soldiers used to rest or a tent overlooking the old historical barn and the fabulous horses (right now we have babies!). We have multiple cross fences fenced areas including stalls and areas for your dog but will need to discuss details beforehand. We are very pet and people friendly.

You can tell there was quite a bit of thought and care in the layout and construction which makes for a stress free and relaxing stay. Weekend Trip to Luxury Glamping - Manzanita Cove

This was hands down the best “glamping” experience I’ve ever had (and I’ve been enjoying visiting an array of Hipcamp sites for the past 5 years). The land is absolutely breathtaking - quiet, serene, natural. We saw beautiful birds, a tiny frog, and a few deer during our stay. The location is sublime. Feels like you’re deep in a nature preserve (super quiet, no light pollution), but local shops are actually minutes away if you want to venture out. The site itself is so well thought out! The spacious tent was beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfy and warm! The outdoor kitchen was literally nicer than my own indoor kitchen. Preparing and enjoying meals was the highlight of our stay. Oh…and the bathroom? Blew me away. Pristine bathroom with a huge hot water shower. I felt like royalty during my stay at Manzanita Cove and I can’t wait to go back!

We followed Joel’s directions and easily found where to go. Keep an eye on your upper camper as you travel the long drive. The trees come close in spots. There’s plenty of room. Joel met us when we drove in. He directed us to our spot and gave us information about the area and getting around. It’s right in the middle of town, but you’d never know it. It’s pretty quiet and feels secluded. There are others that live on the property and off the long driveway, but everyone is pleasant and friendly. There’s no street noise. There’s working people around, so you’ll hear neighbors coming and going for work. The ground is all gravel and fairly level. We had water and electric hook-ups. Joel’s dog Gwen patrols the property. She’s friendly, but a little shy. We had our 2 dogs with us and they were allowed to roam the property. We also had our own fencing when we didn’t want them to roam. The property is safe and not gated. Joel warned us about skunks. We smelled them, but never saw them. There are trees around the outside of the property, so not much shade, but the weather is so nice, we didn’t need any. Lots of birds around. There is a bathroom and shower available. We didn’t need them, as we had our camper. Others were using them. We got ants in the camper-not unusually when camping. Joel was friendly and never bothered us. We never felt intruded upon or uncomfortable. Everything is close and lots to do within 25 minutes drive. We’ll come again!

The Tiny Home is actually very spacious for a couple! Sheena was very communicative and ensured we enjoyed every minute of our getaway. If you are into astronomy and have a telescope, this place provides a great opportunity to enjoy the dark sky right in front of the Tiny Home. No need to drive elsewhere, you can enjoy scoping in the privacy of this beautiful place and go to bed when you need to. Thank you for making this short getaway enjoyable!

Weekend Trip to Glamping in San Diego’s Backcountry

We wanted to take our grand babies who are 2 and 9 months on a trial run to see how they liked it and this was the most amazing place to do that trial run. There was a total of 5 adults and 2 little ones and we had so much room to spread out and get comfy. The bathrooms were a little far of a walk for a toddler who potty trained recently but other than that the site had everything we needed and then some. Anything we weren’t sure of and Shantel was right on it helping us out. The first night we caught 46+mile an hour winds dropping the temps into the 30’s but we turned the propane heaters on and hunkered down in the yurts and were just fine. The tree hammocks were a hit for naps and playing with babies. Lots of chairs around the fire and kitchen supplies. We plan to make this a yearly tradition with our family. So pack your clothes and food and head up! Unplug from life and make some memories.

Depending on what you're doing in the SD area, it can be a great jumping off spot. 30min to most of the hot spots. Joel was a very personable host. We are in a 35' DP and had no problem getting in/out. I don't know if I would try a 42'. The driveway is pretty tight. For us overall it was a great experience for our 1st Hipcamp adventure. Scott and Susanne were so kind and such a pleasure to meet! The property is beautiful and not far from some beaches. They allowed us to say hello and meet all the boarded horses on their property and we were surprised by the beautiful shed Scott built and decorated as well as surprised by the hot water shower! This all really elevated our camping experience and I would 10/10 recommend camping here regardless if you bring horses or just yourself and some friends!

It was a lovely place to stay for the night! Very close to the city and any amenities you need. Elizabeth was very communicative and had no problem with my showing up at 8 pm in the dark. I actually took a wrong turn and someone helped me find the actual parking spot for the nice which was super appreciated. You are very close to the house, like just on a driveway down a slight hill from the main residence but it still felt nice and private. Would definitely car camp here again especially for the price

Absolutely loved the stay at Manzanita Ridge, came up with a couple of friends to rest and relax and we had plenty. Although we visited at the peak of summer heat it was still very relaxing. The trailer had wonderful air conditioning and everything we needed was available. John was very sweet and provided careful instructions and we really enjoyed the quiet star gazing on the deck with a nice fire as well. Dont have any complaints whatsoever. If I needed to state some improvements it would only be about the wooden bench to be fixed so that one can enjoy a nice cup of coffee and also a little more comfortable outdoor seating. But otherwise perfectly quiet and relaxing. We will definately be coming back.
