Darryl's farm has great vibes & he's a very accommodating host. I've stayed there twice & will probably stay again. Woke up to deer eating apples in the yard, wild turkeys running around, and a hawk circling the orchard.

1 night at Explore the Trinity Alps!

What an incredible story this place has. The owners have clearly followed God's creative direction and created a heavenly oasis in the middle of the Trinity Alps. The highlight for sure is rafting down the river, which I didn't have enough time to do. This is def a family camp, stay for a few days kinda place. My studio room was big and clean and had everything I needed microwaving my dinner and a quick breakfast. Although you could happily be fed every meal and drink at the cafe!

6 nights at Humboldt Hills Experience

The host was super hospitable, and answered all my questions I had about the area as someone looking to move here, he was always consistent about checking if we need anything (without being over bearing!) and just helpful in general. Beautiful gardens, loved watching the deer graze around the apple trees, all the birds, etc! Very peaceful experience (which is ideal since buying property is up there in terms of stressful life events!)

Weekend Trip to Humboldt Hills Experience

Darryl is a wonderful human being. His place was magical for us. It checked all the boxes, which were toilet, privacy, tranquility and wildlife. Darryl is a very attentive host and made sure we had everything that we needed or could ever want during our stay. After that, we hardly saw him or anyone else. Once booked, he reached out immediately and was quick to respond to every message. Directions were great - property was easy to find. The whole place was super quiet and tranquil. It was exactly as pictured. We go camping to get closer to nature, to get peace/quiet, and get away from people and the chaos of highly populated areas. Darryl‘s place does not disappoint, if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s off the beaten path and secluded. Our camp spot was perfect for us because it was right in the middle of all the wildlife. We had deer coming through our camp frequently. We got to watch the turkeys go to roost in the trees every night and glide down to the ground first thing in the morning. We fell asleep to the sound of the wind blowing in the trees, the birds chirping, and an owl hooting in the distance. It was like we were all alone on our own private island in the mountains. It was so nice that we decided against a motorcycle ride to Shelter Cove because we just wanted to stay in our campsite and enjoy it to the fullest. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you Darryl!!

Weekend Trip to Camp Johneaux

Loved tent camping on John’s land! He was a great host, super friendly and knew a lot about the area and its history. He gave us a few options of where to pitch our tent and showed us around the property. We camped in his fenced in fruit garden with a gorgeous view of the trees. We spent the evening soaking in the private clawfoot tub on the back patio of one his cabins (which also had a cool outdoor shower!). Very nice place to stay for an overnight on our way from LA to Oregon. A quick drive to the Avenue of the Giants the next morning and John gave us expert recs on where to stop. It was very quiet, felt safe and secluded, and I’d definitely return if I’m back in the area.

Excellent communication, directions and hospitality. We enjoyed that is feels away from it all but not too far off the beaten path for exploring the redwoods and coast. Will go back when the orchards are in bloom!
