And the only sounds you're likely to hear are the gentle surf and ocean breezes. There's really no other place like Baja California. This diverse sea supports more than 900 varieties of fish, and more than 2,000 species of marine invertebrates. * Spring water is trucked in, and stored in a 1,000-gallon tank. The first tanks of water and propane are included. If a water refill is required, you pay the $50. The cost of a propane refill is about $20. * There is no landline phone, but we do have wifi, and most cell phones work. * Note that Baja can be HOT, especially from mid-June through the end of August. In Summer, typical temperatures are high 90s or low 100s during the day, and 70s to 80s at night. * Pets are welcome. * Please smoke on the veranda — never inside. * Sheets are provided for the three beds. A 4WD tow vehicle is essential. Again, be aware of the tides. * There is a wood-burning fireplace. * There are large supermarkets in central San Felipe (such as Calimax, on the main drag). You can get fresh food and everything else you might need at reasonable prices. * Wheelchair access to the home is fairly easy. The showers are very large, but otherwise of standard design. * There can be dogs roaming free, but we've never seen an aggressive one. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities. The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails. Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s). The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents. From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails. After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow. The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance. We look forward to hosting you at the Ranch! Please note: OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on.  Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes. Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. The cost of a propane refill is about $20. * There is no landline phone, but we do have wifi, and most cell phones work. * Note that Baja can be HOT, especially from mid-June through the end of August. In Summer, typical temperatures are high 90s or low 100s during the day, and 70s to 80s at night. * Pets are welcome. * Please smoke on the veranda — never inside. * Sheets are provided for the three beds. The showers are very large, but otherwise of standard design. * There can be dogs roaming free, but we've never seen an aggressive one. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Centered around a 100+ acre meadow, filled with horses in summer months and surrounded by thousands of acres of mountainous National Forest. Just 15 minutes from Big Bear Lake - a large recreational, fresh-water lake for summer swimming, boating, skiing, fishing and other super fun water activities. The Ranch feels remote and private. Yet is only four miles to the town of Big Bear with shopping and restaurants. Also in close proximity to incredible rock climbing at the Pinnacles, seemingly endless hiking and biking and some pretty epic off-roading 4x4 trails. Each campsite is approximately one acre, and generously-distanced from neighboring campers. Amenities include its own fire ring with grilling grate and picnic table(s). The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents. From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails. After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow. The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance. We look forward to hosting you at the Ranch! Please note: OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on.  Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes. Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

Absolutely incredible. It was the perfect spot for a weekend with my little Ford Maverick and Go Fast Camper setup. I did not have much communication with the host, but I honestly did not need much since everything was straightforward. It was a busy festival weekend, so the parking attendants were a huge help. The only suggestion I have is to include a bit more information in the instructions/getting there section after booking. Without the parking attendants I probably would have been a little confused 😅 so a simple map and some friendly instructions would probably avoid some unnecessary confusion. Not a dig on the site at all, just a friendly suggestion. Aside from that, the campsite gets rave reviews from me because of how easy and wonderful it was to stay in this beautiful western-style town. The animals at the petting zoo can be a little loud at times, but I found it charming and part of the experience. This would not be an issue for anyone in an RV. I was in an RV spot with my truck tent, so tent campers might want to bring simple earplugs since the roosters start early. Do not let that deter you. It truly is a unique and very cool place to camp. The campground is fairly minimal, but it is well maintained, safe, and friendly. Being able to walk back to your site after a night at Pappy and Harriet’s in only two minutes is worth its weight in gold. 🍻 Thanks, and I will definitely be rebooking!

Had a great stay tent camping on the Holcomb ranch! Plenty of trees, views, and spots to explore or just hang out. The campsites are well maintained and spaced out from one another with access to individual fire pits and porta-potties. We were a group of 4 with 2 cars and 3 tents, and had more space on the site than we truly knew what to do with. We went mid- November and the first night was pretty cold with it getting just below freezing so make sure you're coming prepared. Special thanks to the camp manager for our stay, Ed -- he was great with prompt contact and instructions for arrival, friendly check ups and information about the site, guidelines, and the area.

We had a good time doing a girls camping trip. There was ample space between us and the other campers, there were lots of trees but also great clearing to see the sky, there was a firepit, picnic table, my dog enjoyed exploring the area, and they left water for us to put the fires out. They called to check-in that we were coming, stopped by our site to see how we were doing, and provided clear directions. Already recommended the site to other families! 10/10

The sites were decently far apart and camping in November was absolutely perfect. There weren't that many people around and the whole place was quiet. It's not the easiest road to traverse - mostly our dogs didn't like all the rocking. But overall, I would definitely come back - even if it were during the busy season. Our dogs absolutely loved being able to run around and play.

It's one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) and features scores of steep, challenging peaks, which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west, to huge Yucca forests in the east. 11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Mojave rivers offer premier wild trout streams such as Bear Creek, accessible only by foot. Hundreds of miles of unpaved National Forest roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable (11 Difficults, six Most Difficults). The Cabin is right in the middle of the major routes. After a day here, you may find it hard to believe that you're just 100 miles (and perhaps a century) away from Downtown Los Angeles. We do ask guests to pay an added fee of $5 per pup per day. Propane stoves are OK, and we have a natural-gas BBQ grill available for use. Outdoor wood fires and/or lighter fluid are never allowed. There is easy parking for any number of cars. RVs and trailers are no problem either. Total charges will depend of the number of guests and vehicles. Cell phones on Verizon and Sprint will have coverage. The AT&T and T-Mobile networks still do not cover this area, however the wifi near our home enables calls/texts on most phones. The public bus stop is a short walk. Surprisingly, it is possible to take public transit from any train station in SoCal all the way to our bus stop (and vice versa). Cheaper than driving, and no worries about weather. Ask us for details. If you're bringing kids, let us know the ages.
