***Some things to please be aware of:
- This is off grid camping! No markers or specifically defined campsites are present, we provide exact GPS coordinates. All sites are dispersed camping in the wildflower fields! We intentionally leave the property unaltered to preserve the raw natural beauty.
- Our site is about 2 miles from the nearest paved road (HWY 138) It’s all dirt roads to get here off of HWY 138, through the hills. For years we have found 2WD is more than sufficient to get here, as long as you drive slow, and don't stop on hills you should be fine. However, some campers have found that not to be the case for them and wanted 4WD, so come prepared either way.
- If you are unfamiliar navigating using GPS coordinates or with off grid camping, our location may be hard to find and may not be a good fit for you.
- It can get very windy sometimes so come prepared to snuggle up in the back of your car or camper and enjoy the stunning stars, sunrises, sunsets and views.
- It is considerably easier to navigate with a little daylight.
- We are happy to provide you with a map as well upon request, which seems to be the most direct route.

We had a very quick stay (late arrival due to traffic) but had an easy time finding and accessing the location. It was so quiet and peaceful, I forgot how much I missed seeing the stars while living in the city. It was beautiful. Host was very sweet and communicative. Definitely will be coming back on my next trip up near the sierras.

The previous reviews stating this place was a scam made me skeptical. I'm glad I went with my gut and went anyways. Kyles space is great! Its fun and rustic. He is very welcoming and a great guy. I did not stay in a yurt, but I saw them and they looked cool. The out house was probably the cleanest out house i have ever used.
Tip - if youre interested in dirt biking, you have to ask kyle for a link to sign up and reserve a bike or ATV in advance.
Also - turns out the place is close to MTN High ski resort. Wish we had known because we would have brought our gear.
Definitely recommend this place for a weekend camping trip or even a stop over if youre on the road and need somewhere to sleep.

The Robison Ranch was an absolute wonderful place to stay. The views are fantastic, the it is very private and quiet, the owners of the ranch (Leslie and Frank) were wonderful and the volunteers were also great people. I stayed out there for three weeks and loved it! I would defiantly love to come back and stay again.

A beautiful spot with excellent views, and a pleasant surprise visit from some cattle on our way up to the location. I strongly suggest bringing something that can off-road a bit, it wasn't a rough drive, but I know my sedan would have gotten stuck or struggled toward the end. The provided outhouse is a welcome addition. It's a nice, quiet spot for a good getaway with a killer view of the stars all around.

Beautiful site for quiet, privacy, and stargazing! My first time on a real horse ranch. There were many possibilities for where on the ranch we could park the RV, we parked near a barn in the back and could hear the horses snorting, it was very relaxing. We dry camped but water and electric outlets were available. Host was very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable, which is much appreciated. Location was perfect, 5 minutes from the highway but it felt remote. Great spot!

We went back to Silver Spur Ranch for another rafting trip with Momentum Expeditions. The site is exactly the way it was with full hookups and well maintained. I was talking to John and learned that there are a couple of ther sites that looked maintained as well. I told John I’d name the sites for him. It seemed like he didn’t mind.
The RV sites are situated next to large trees that provide shade. We booked the same site that we stayed at in June 2025, which I named Cottonwood tree. The other RV site has an Elm tree. There’s a Yellow house that is used for lodging.
Overall, as I mentioned in my first review, Silver Spur Ranch is peaceful and quiet. There’s a creek that has clear water flowing through it that you can stare at and be mesmerized. We saw a mini rapid.

John is a fantastic host. Our time on his ranch was amazing, truly a beautiful property! He accommodated an extra days stay at another space on the property which allowed us to fully enjoy our time at the river, even though it was a last minute request. The dogs were able to roam around unleashed and the kids rode their bikes and quad around until the batteries ran out. We had a great time in the Kern River Valley, thanks to John and his laid back, but welcoming and flexible style. I'd recommend a stay here anytime, and we'd definitely come back when we can!

Silver Spur Ranch is a true oasis. John was extremely accommodating and friendly as he welcomed us in at the gate. The property is amazing and the bathroom was conveniently located near the tent site. We went there to escape the firework noise in the city for our pup, and it did not disappoint. We love how close the creek is to the campsite and appreciate how many picnic table are there for our use. We ended up having lunch down at the creek. Also! There's tons of tree to offer shade on property. We are excited to go back and hopefully check out the Airstream or cabin.

John’s place is perfect for base camp. We went river rafting on the Forks of the Kern for 3 days with Momentum Expeditions located in Wofford Heights.
The RV site is exactly as described…full hookups and shade. John met us when we arrived and helped my husband back in to the site.
Overall, Silver Spur Ranch is peaceful and quiet. We felt comfortable leaving our trailer unattended. We’d definitely stay here again when we’re back in the area to go river rafting.

This hipcamp experience was what I call ‘travel magic’. I arrived in the dark and was soon greeted by the sweetest dog ever. The location was exactly what I wanted; complete peace in the middle of the desert. The host greeted me like we were lifelong friends and took me for a tour of his property. In the morning a different but equally sweet dog came to check in on me after I woke up. My only regret is that I could not stay longer to go offroading but will be back again. By all means come out and support these great people.

we could have campfires which was a huge perk for us so we didn’t have to go out all the time! If you love to stargaze or even love AtVs rides this is the perfect spot . They have a really good deal for renting/tours!
They even have outside bathrooms (outhouse style), and showers!

The land was beautiful! If you want to be isolated, then this spot is for you. It’s near a farm, which is fun because we saw sheep, cows, and dogs near our tent. We went the first week of May and thought we might see some flowers. No flowers because it hasn’t been raining there. Even the Poppy Reserve had no poppies. Heads up: it was super windy (14 mph & gust 24 mph). We were able to tolerate it during the day. The night was even windier, and we didn’t get a good sleep quality. Besides that, it was fun to meet farm animals (from a distance) and embrace the land.

Land access simple; even though I got stuck, management kindly change that by getting me unstuck. Much appreciated!
After getting unstuck I was able to settle in for an enjoyable kickback with a night of stargazing.
Definitely a place to check out so you can check back in..., and; as a bonus, they have ATV & dirt bike rental.
The trails, stargazing, people and visiting dogs are a welcomed experience.
