Overall, it was a good experience. There’s a few things that campers might need a heads up on.
-First, it’s hard to find. The coordinates to get there are fine, but once you get there it’s just … open. There no ‘this is the place’ marker. You just kinda drive and park on the road and that’s it. That being said, there doesn’t seem to be much traffic so it didn’t really matter.
-Second, it’s WINDY. At least while we were there. We talked to some locals and they were like ‘oh yeah, it gets WINDY.’ I can’t imagine tent camping there. You’d lose your tent. Or starting a fire (which are allowed). If you magically got it lit in the wind, it would blow away and probably start fires. It was so windy it it pulled one side of our license plate off.
All that said, it was rly pretty, and we were in a van. We parked with our van with our side door on the opposite side from the wind, so it wasn’t terrible. Once we secured our license plate so it would stop slamming on the back, we actually slept really well, and waking up to open the doors to the field of flowers was magical. We put our camp chairs inside and watched the sun rise and the birds dipping into the low brush and drank coffee and we were quiet. It was exactly why we drove there.
