Newberry Springs, California is a very small peaceful town located off of Historic Route 66, also known as the "Mother Road".
It is most famously known for our groves of pistachios and the famous Baghdad Cafe which was featured in the 1987 film Baghdad Cafe. Our property happens to be 1.5 miles from the famous Baghdad Cafe which makes a quick visit to the Cafe incredibly convenient.
To celebrate our Pistachios, come join us the first Saturday of every November for our Pistachio Festival which boasts lots of vendors, food, and fun!
Speaking of festivals, if you like large firework shows in the sky, then you'll want to be sure to book a spot here every July 3rd for our big 3rd of July Festival which again, is home to lots of vendors, food, fun and an amazing firework display which we happen to have front row seats to. You won't have to worry about parking if you're already here!
Do you love celestial events? If so, you'll want to book a site here between July 17th and August 24th for the 2025 year, to witness the Perseids Meteor Shower. Tranqvillium was purchased in 2016 with the intention of creating Gaia Earthen Technologies Sustainable Living Educational and Research Center. Construction started in 2016 and now we have our first temporary building and working on the others. The daily operation is run by Tranqvillium, an intentional community of people who don't like to spend their money on rent and utility bills.Learn more about this land:The location is about an hour west of Las Vegas in the California Mojave Desert. Even though the lights of Vegas are visible on the Eastern horizon, above Tranqvillium there is no light pollution and the entirety of the visible part of the Milky Way is shining down on us. Tecopa Hot Springs is 30 min West from us, along with China Ranch date farm. From China ranch it's a 40 min hike through Mars like terrain to a swimming hole complete with a small waterfall, where the Amargosa River comes above ground. The ancient lake bed where Tranqvillium is located is surrounded by medium height mountains, which are perfect for rock scrambling, and the world famous Red Rock climbing site is nearby too. The place is very rugged and is recommended for experienced campers who are not taken aback by wilderness living.

Great directions and communication from Captain Jon. Even though he is closed for the season, he graciously answered my query about a one night stay. I had wanted to stop earlier in the season, but he had sold out for the night! This was a very peaceful quiet overnight for me & my dog. The temps were cold so we did not swim in the clear pond. But we watched a beautiful sunset, and beautiful sunrise. I hope you return in warmer weather, to dip my toes in the pond!!
There is a coin-op laundry room for those that need it. And RV hookups.

Jon is so friendly and welcoming! His land has tons of available activities and shared spaces for socializing and the sites are well dispersed around his swimming hole. I was only passing through for one night but it was a hot afternoon and my dog got to cool off swimming while I took an available paddle board out on the water. I will have to come back for a longer stay sometime.

It rained during the day so there was a huge puddle leading to their side gate, and we slid getting in through the gate on the mud. I’m sure on a drier day though, it is much easier to get in. They met us at the road, and were super helpful and accommodating. Happy we were able to use our generator :)

We absolutely loved it here! We were in town for work and stayed with Jacob and his family for 2 months! We couldnt have asked for better hosts. They were extremely nice and very accommodating for our work trailer too! Great for long stays and explorations! We got the chance to go rock hunting and cut open some very cool rocks! Our dog loved how open the property was and the friends across the street. Would recommend Jacob and Jeanettes little paradise to anyone, long stay or short! Thank you so much and we hope to at least come back and say hi sometime!

This was my first experience with a HipCamp campground so I was a little apprehensive of what it would be like. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. We have traveled and camped for many years and never have been treated as well as we were by Jacob and Jeanette. From giving us ice from there home to providing us we anything we needed this was a first class camping experience. I would go back just to visit with them again. The area was nice too. The high desert next to our camp spot was very nice and my wife saw her first roadrunner while walking there, a bucket list achievement.

We had a great overnight stay. Our host was a great communicator and extremely accommodating, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. The site was absolutely perfect for a quick overnight stop – level ground made setup easy, and the bonus mountain view was a beautiful surprise.
The location is conveniently close to the highway, which made access super easy for our travel trailer. Plus, our host had fresh chicken and duck eggs available – the best! We love fresh eggs, and these did not disappoint.
We had no issues at all during our stay and got a great night’s sleep before heading out on the next leg of our trip. Highly recommend for anyone passing through that needs a no frills stop!

Such a great place with the best hosts! Had absolutely no issues getting in and set up. Jacob & Jeanette left a pile of firewood for me and offered up ice or anything else I needed. After getting trapped in Afton Canyon for a very long day (but making it back after nightfall) both hosts checked in on me that night and in the morning. It was so nice knowing I had some people caring about my wellbeing and knowing where I was on my solo travel incase anything went sideways. Also, Jacob met me with a thunder egg he cut open for me and rockhounded himself right behind their property! Nothing makes me happier than a dog or a cool rock 🤘🏽 love this place and definitely need to come back as there is so much to explore in the area
