Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. We are most famous for our honey, peaches and figs, but also grow apples, pears, persimmon, blackberries, greens, bay leaf, white sage and more.For years , we were WWOOF hosts (look it up ;-) and resisted opening up Cold Creek to traffic associated with daily camping arrivals, but we finally found the perfect spots for visitors to park their RVs, spend a quiet night and visit the orchard by foot.We are now excited by the prospect of focusing on expanding our micro-farming and inviting campers to look over our shoulders.

The ranch is made up of their home and is also a venue for filming, photo shoots and small events. When not being used, camping guest are welcome to enjoy the area down around the authentic saloon, use the picnic area under large Oak trees and hike the property. We purchased the ranch 8 years ago and love being outside of the city in the mountains. Stargazing is a must when staying there!

It's so nice to "meet you" my name is Taryn and my hubby's name is Anson. We are parents to two-year-old twins, so saying we have our hands full is an understatement. Anson is a folk and blues musician and has traveled
all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees.
Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Weekend Trip to Tiny Home Cabin in the Hills
Araceli is a wonderful, friendly and generous host. Her land is beautiful and provides a peaceful and relaxing place to get away and spend time with someone special, or in solitude.
Her two dogs are friendly and visit occasionally. This was a wonderful camping experience with an actual comfortable bed. There is a shower with hot water, don’t forget soap and towels.
Great experience and I hope to stay again in the future. Thank you.

Hosts were lovely, responded quickly, and were very accomodating. The man who gave us a tour was very knowledgable; we had never learned so much about ostriches/birds and we had been to other ostrich farms before! Also gave us great tips on where to travel in the area around the ranch. Definitely would visit again, very peaceful place to stay.

This is a great spot for a hop over, or for a big group if you want to book all the tent spots together. The cooking area is communal, and clean and they were very accommodating answering questions about the propane campfire and grill. We went a weekend that was particularly windy, and had to cut our trip short so know the winds can get really powerful in this area. But there was also a wind event in LA county so it may have been exaggerated for us. Regardless, we enjoyed dinner and karaoke at the restaurant down the road where kids were welcome, and had coffee at a new coffee shop with live music closer to Lake Elizabeth. So some lovely things to explore nearby!
Our kids loved having the playground equipment and meeting the ostriches which are wild to see up close. Beautiful views in the morning as well!

Araceli was a great host. She made sure we had everything we needed and even greeted us upon arrival. She showed us around and made sure to answer any questions that we had.

Awesome location and setting. Sitting at 3000 ft, you can enjoy the cool breeze without dealing with altitude issues, occasional snow. I would have love to stop by when fresh apples and figs were being sold. Close enough to civilization not needing high clearance vehicle but nestled in such a way that you feel you are far away from the rat race. Ill be back!

The previous reviews stating this place was a scam made me skeptical. I'm glad I went with my gut and went anyways. Kyles space is great! Its fun and rustic. He is very welcoming and a great guy. I did not stay in a yurt, but I saw them and they looked cool. The out house was probably the cleanest out house i have ever used.
Tip - if youre interested in dirt biking, you have to ask kyle for a link to sign up and reserve a bike or ATV in advance.
Also - turns out the place is close to MTN High ski resort. Wish we had known because we would have brought our gear.
Definitely recommend this place for a weekend camping trip or even a stop over if youre on the road and need somewhere to sleep.

I loved the experience me and my boyfriend had camping here; hearing the birds at night was so unique!! We did the archery, ax throwing, and the tour! Highly recommend. Every member of the staff went out of their way to make this an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful spot with a little creek running thru the property. Lots of nature with birds and frogs singing. Close to a cafe and a restaurant and not too far from shopping, laundry etc. A great getaway.

She generously allowed us to use her land as a filming location for our short film, and she was nothing but kind, communicative, and accommodating throughout the entire process. She made everything easy and stress-free, which meant so much to our small production team. The property itself was beautiful and exactly what we needed. Lovely stay! I really enjoyed learning more about the ostriches during the tour. Lou was very informative. I also went home with some of the ostrich oil heat cream. It’s listed in the breakdown as $20 but I was charged $25.. just something to be mindful of. But all in all loved the experience and would stay again!

Where to go
Big Santa Anita Canyon
About 15 minutes north of Arcadia in the Front Country, Big Santa Anita Canyon (popularly known as "The Canyon") features miles of trails and lots of camping options. Primitive tent campsites are first-come, first-served—free permits may be required to camp. Among the six campgrounds in the canyon, many are equipped with picnic tables, firepits, concrete pads, and wood grills. After setting up camp, birdwatch or splash in the Big Anita Creek, or discover the beauty of the Sturtevant Falls along one of the 12 hiking trails.
Saddleback Butte State Park
An hour and a half north of Arcadia takes campers to Saddleback Butte State Park. Saddleback Butte is a granite mountain top that towers thousands of feet above Antelope Valley. Take the 2.5-mile hike to the peak on trails lined with creosote bushes and Joshua trees. Equestrians can ride on horse-friendly trails throughout the valley, as well. Pet-friendly campsites are first-come, first-served and can accommodate tents, RVs, and travel trailers up to 30 feet. Many campsites in the park also have fire rings and BBQ grills, as well as shade and wind blocks.
Topanga State Park
Topanga State Park sits in the Santa Monica Mountains near the Pacific Ocean. Explore geological formations like earthquake faults and marine fossil beds. Then hike some of the 36 miles of open grassland trails surrounded by live oaks. Mountain biking and horseback riding trails are also available—many lead to stunning Pacific Ocean views. Since Topanga Canyon is within Los Angeles limits, some trails, like the unpaved Mulholland Drive or Eagle Rock, offer views of the city. In nearby Malibu, campers can sightsee and beach camp at several campgrounds that offer drinking water, fire rings, RV hookups, showers, and flush toilets.
When to go
Campers can visit Arcadia year-round. The city has hot, arid summers with clear skies and very low humidity. Average temperatures are in the 80s. Long, cool winters are moderate and mostly dry. November through mid-March see average temperatures below 70°F. Campers may want to return in spring and fall to experience migratory wildlife, as well as desert, mountain, and valley foliage blooms.
