Only 45 minutes from Flagstaff, 30 minutes from the historic Grand Canyon, and only 36 minutes from Williams, this property is in the middle of it all. There is so much potential for amazing adventures. You could go fishing in Williams or have a snowball fight in Flagstaff. If you have never seen the Grand Canyon you are in for an ultimate life changing experience. The dark night skies in this area may just keep you at camp. You can see every star out here and enjoy the escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. With wide open spaces you have so much room to play. The road to the property is about 0.8 miles and is considered dirt rugged. It will require you to so down under 5 miles an hour in a few places. You have the entire road to travel on and maneuver around the big bumps. I drive my car to the property ever time and don't have an issue if I slow down and go around large holes. If there is a recent storm in the area the road will be difficult to navigate.

This is “Stone Soup,” in honor of unique geology and a folktale where everyone brings something to make a whole greater than its parts. A hut, built with love during musical campouts, materials are recycled from building sites may be available, on a first-come first serve basis, but please don't count on anything being there but the open land and sky. There are 40 acres to explore and camp on. You can follow the property boundaries, or just head straight out from the hut away from the road or on the other side of the road for at least half a mile and camp anywhere. You can drive all over the land in a regular vehicle and find your spot. If you do use the hut, please leave it in better shape than you found it. Same with the land. Here is my vision: Adventurous, creative, nature-loving kindred souls can converge on these 40 acres and bring what they need but also share with one another (the stone soup spirit). Although you do need to take in and out everything (water, food, bedding...) and there is no outhouse at the moment (dunes for some privacy, and thinly bury your waste), you can drive anywhere on the land and have what you need in your vehicle. It sometimes gets windy, so car-camping is recommended over tents, though you can also bring your RV. Basically at the moment, this is an isolated, wild campsite, with total peace and quiet but where you bring everything. There is no running water, cooking supplies, or toilet. You may find firewood further down the road, and can have a fire anytime, but nothing is supplied. You will need to take your trash with you. The photos are not up to date and still show amenities that are not there. The hut may be available, but it is just a structure with no door. Also note that there is no way to get there with Google maps/ GPS coordinate. I will send detailed directions if you book, but you probably want to arrive with some daylight. If prepared to rough it, it's a gorgeous site with open sky, amazing views, stars, rocks, and silence.

This campsite is 3.7 miles from Grand Canyon Junction for food, gas, water, and supplies, and 30 miles to Grand Canyon National Park. There are two sites with fire pits and campfires are allowed but may be restricted during certain times when warm temperatures and high winds are forecasted. Please bring a shovel to clear the fire pit out if there is sand or leftover wood in it. Other things to note: From Highway 64, travel 0.85 miles east on Pine Rd to reach the property. The dirt road has some bumps but is accessible with a 2WD car when the road is dry but 4WD is recommended when there is snow or rain. Also, since you will be traveling on an unmarked dirt road, it is advised to reach the campsite before dark so it easier to locate. There are no toilets or water so campers will need to bring their own accommodations. Pack in and pack out policy applies. Please check if there are any fire restrictions at the time of your visit and always adhere to state and local fire restrictions. Dry camp on our beautiful one acre high desert oasis under the Milky Way. We are just 30 minutes south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where you will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We are one of the few places to dry camp just a few blocks off Hwy 64. It's only a 3 minute drive North to Grand Canyon Junction where Hwy 64 intersects with Hwy 180. At Grand Canyon Junction there is a convince store with clean bathrooms and it's loaded with snacks, souvenirs, apparel and even beautiful authentic Native American pottery and turquoise jewelry. One of my favorite long sleeve shirts is from this store. Double Eagle Trading Company nearby offers a fun browsing experience with authentic Native American goods and unique beautiful gifts. Catch a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon from Tusayan, AZ which is only 25 minutes north. Our property is dry camping only and it's pack in and pack out. Please don't leave any trash. There is a Tesla Supercharging station in Tusayan so for you Tesla lovers who love to dry camp you are all set! There are showers at Love's Travel Stop in Williams, AZ 30 minutes South which gets good reviews. The charming town of Williams, AZ is on Route 66 and there are lots of things to see and do. Spent one night on Luciano's peaceful and beautiful property. Luciano met us on arrival and gave us a quick tour before letting us settle in. A picnic table and a fire pit and a nice piece of level ground surrounded by trees provided the perfect place to camp and unwind after a long day of driving. And the night sky was one of the most brilliant we've ever seen. Highly recommend this site and the host!

Very quiet. Scenery is beautiful. Sunsets are spectacular. My GPS took me to the exact location. It was a clear lot, with plenty of space for my 3 kids and a 9 person tent. If y are looking for solitude but not far from a town or other people, this is the place. Would definitely book again.

Not because we didn’t like the location we just wanted closer to Flagstaff. Horses running free behind the camper was a bonus! If you appreciate seclude, quite dark sky locations! The views at Stone Soup were gorgeous -- both the surrounding dunes during the day, and the incredibly clear view of the stars at night. Kate was also a great host and gave us great directions and timely updates on the site. I would recommend a high clearance vehicle -- the dirt roads leading to the site scraped the bottom of our sedan a few times. The shelter keeps the wind out, but with no heat definitely bring warm bedding! But all in all, we loved the privacy and beauty of Stone Soup. Would definitely recommend for an off-grid experience near the Grand Canyon!

It was a great campsite! The dirt roads were a little tricky to drive through, but I think that can mainly be contributed to the rain that had fallen right before we arrived. I loved the fire pits and the chairs she had set up! Was windy the first day when we were setting up but then died down and was fine the rest of the time.

1 night at The Invisible Home |Grand Canyon|

The Invisible Room was a fun and cozy place! The space warms up quickly, Macario is responsive and the room is overall well kept. We had been warned in advance that there wouldn't be running water at all, but I wish we had anticipated getting more gallons of water to handle dishes and basic needs as the only water provided was 2 small bottles. The cutlery isn't the one on the pics, we only had leftover plastic cutlery. The fridge is a desk one, so super small - you can only fit about 4 cans in there. Furniture and decor also isn't what's on the pictures. We wished the mirrors/windows had been cleaned because they were really dirty all over. The instructions states a dumpster that we couldn't find although we tried hard, and the road is super long and bumpy so make sure to come in with a vehicle that can handle it - SUV or truck. I think it's a way better idea to stay there in the Spring or Summer, def not Winter.
