We are a family-owned RV park and tiny home village located 50 minutes from the east entrance to Grand Canyon National Park and only 20 minutes north of Flagstaff, Arizona. Our family -- Adam, Shelley, Zoe, Ava, and Cairo -- purchased the RV park in 2021. The property was a trading post for decades but had fallen into disrepair. We have been busy painting, cleaning and improving the grounds to become a comfortable oasis for your family. Our location on US Hwy 89 on the east side of the highway is only a few miles from the breathtaking aspens of Lockett Meadow, the ruins of Wupatki National Monument and the lava flows at Sunset Crater. The park is a short drive to downtown Flagstaff, and on the way to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Moab and Durango. Stay the night or as long as you like! Drink in the hibiscus sunrises above the Painted Desert and relax into the long shadows of the San Francisco Peaks. Let us know if you want to borrow a telescope to explore the darkest night sky you have ever seen! We are excited to share our home with you! As with many parts of Flagstaff, an occasional distant train whistle may be heard. Relatively flat, gravel driveway. About a 1/2 mile walk to Historic Downtown Flagstaff. No Uber or Lyft required (unless you want to...and then it's about a 2 minute ride) like the other out of town spots... Mountain biking and hiking close by! Space is approximately 14' wide x 45' long. Cats ok. If you're planning a visit to the charming and historic Downtown Flagstaff, securing a parking space with full hookups can significantly enhance your experience. We offer a RURAL, rustic camping experience. Our property is off-grid thus we cannot offer you any sort of facilities or services at this time & your cell may not be 100% useful. We chose Outpost in our name because we believe it provides an accurate description: a remote, isolated station, settlement, or camp located at a distance from the main body. Our property is 7.4 miles down a dirt Indian Route through a significant wash and while 4 wheel drive is ideal, you can make it in nice weather conditions without 4 wheel drive. Keith’s sister made it in her Chevrolet Sonic, for example. Large RVs may scrape along the way; we did with our 40' fifth wheel. Our 60 acre property offers a unique experience for those looking for a place to unplug and explore with plenty of privacy and room to roam. You'll enjoy incredible views of the Painted Desert, Gray Mountain, and the San Francisco peaks. The night skies will be unlike anything you’ve seen unless you have been in the middle of the ocean with no light pollution. Some important things to note about our property: Our property will always and forever be a Safe Place for all people. We hold no prejudices regardless of race, ethnicity, or creeds. Our guests will always be respected, loved and welcome and it must be that way with other guests. We are a clothing optional campground, which means you may be naked on our property. We are pet-friendly. We have two medium size puppies. Let's ensure our furry friends have as much fun as we are having by keeping them on a leash and we clean up after them. We also wouldn't want them to chase away the wild mustangs, which are beautiful to see in full gallop. NOTICE: As a desert location you may encounter wildlife (nice and not so nice) while on the property hiking around. We have seen pacific gopher snakes, non-venomous snake that eats rodents and has similar markings to rattlesnakes, which are also present. A triangle head means venomous. Listen carefully while hiking around. Distances to points of interest: We are located 50 miles (1 hour) northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. 13 miles to Cameron, Arizona (Navajo Nation) 37 miles to Wupatki National Monument. 38 miles to Tuba City, Arizona (Navajo Nation) 42 miles to Grand Canyon National Park (south rim).

Chevelon Canyon Highlands

13. Chevelon Canyon Highlands

41mi from Leupp · 1 site · Tent, RV
Welcome to the edge of the high desert. Set at the very end of a quiet dirt road, this 230-acre private property offers rare access to vast open space, dramatic canyon views, and true solitude. Located about 30 minutes off pavement, the drive in is part of the experience. A medium-clearance vehicle is recommended, though high-clearance 4x4 is not required. The final mile becomes a bit rough at a few spots that cross sandstone, but there are no major obstacles for a standard truck or SUV. Off-road or higher-clearance travel trailers are welcome, provided they are not excessively long or low to the ground. The land itself is expansive and immersive. With over a mile of Chevelon Creek forming the southern boundary, the property drops into a massive canyon with 300-foot cliffs, sweeping views, and a sense of scale that feels more like a national park than private land. Advanced rock climbers have quietly begun establishing rappel routes and sport climbs into the canyon. While climbing access is informal and at your own discretion, the remoteness and openness of the area has long made it a haven for experienced adventurers. To the north, the property borders a large stretch of BLM land, offering endless room to explore, hike, and roam without crowds. Despite the size and openness, the land feels remarkably private. There are no neighbors in sight, no traffic, and no noise beyond wind, birds, and the canyon below. This is a place for those seeking something rare: – Overlanders looking for space, views, and quiet – Adventurers and climbers drawn to wild terrain – Retreat groups wanting privacy, inspiration, and room to breathe – Anyone craving the feeling of being far away, without being unreachable If you’re looking for polished amenities and tight campsites, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for scale, silence, stars, and a landscape that stops you in your tracks, you’ve found something special.

Back to basics with endless desert sky. Hike giant rock sculptures, gather petrified wood, maybe find the hidden pond or seasonal Little Colorado to splash in . Bathed in the Canyon's ethereal ambiance, powdery views of Navajo Plateau and snowy San Francisco Peaks await. This is “Stone Soup,” in honor of unique geology and a folktale where everyone brings something to make a whole greater than its parts. A hut, built with love during musical campouts, materials are recycled from building sites may be available, on a first-come first serve basis, but please don't count on anything being there but the open land and sky. There are 40 acres to explore and camp on. You can follow the property boundaries, or just head straight out from the hut away from the road or on the other side of the road for at least half a mile and camp anywhere. You can drive all over the land in a regular vehicle and find your spot. If you do use the hut, please leave it in better shape than you found it. Same with the land. Here is my vision: Adventurous, creative, nature-loving kindred souls can converge on these 40 acres and bring what they need but also share with one another (the stone soup spirit). Although you do need to take in and out everything (water, food, bedding...) and there is no outhouse at the moment (dunes for some privacy, and thinly bury your waste), you can drive anywhere on the land and have what you need in your vehicle. It sometimes gets windy, so car-camping is recommended over tents, though you can also bring your RV. Basically at the moment, this is an isolated, wild campsite, with total peace and quiet but where you bring everything. There is no running water, cooking supplies, or toilet. You may find firewood further down the road, and can have a fire anytime, but nothing is supplied. You will need to take your trash with you. The photos are not up to date and still show amenities that are not there. The hut may be available, but it is just a structure with no door. Also note that there is no way to get there with Google maps/ GPS coordinate. I will send detailed directions if you book, but you probably want to arrive with some daylight. If prepared to rough it, it's a gorgeous site with open sky, amazing views, stars, rocks, and silence.
