Explore the Painted Desert wonderland to play around in and stargaze. The campsite is shared with Wild Horses, Pronghorns, Owls and Bovine that wander around the area. Look out to the south and a view of Petrified Forest National Park is right there. And when you're in the park, using binoculars, you can see the campsite from Pintado Point. Just search left from the towers. A fantastic campsite built by independent outdoor company @hetchyoutdoors This is a remote, private campground with a canopy, picnic bench and fire pit that relieves you from the crowds of hotels and RV campgrounds in the area. There are no predators or threats to worry about at night, just the the most stars in the sky you've probably ever seen. Views of the National Park to the south and only a 15 minute drive to the North Gate.

Learn more about this land:This raw land property, right at the edge of the Petrified Forest National Park, gives you amazing views of and walking access into the park (with an already purchased entrance pass) to the ancient Puerco Pueblo and the stunning views of Newspaper Rock. Cell reception in the area is decent. I had access to TMobile data from the property the last time I was there though not all areas of the park have the same luxury. City folk (like it seems I have sadly become these days) often forget what a beautiful starry night sky can look like. One clear night here and you'll see a sky full of stars, the milky way, planets and maybe a shooting star. As a International Dark Sky Park, the parks nightscape falls on the Bortel scale of 3 (1 being darkest and 9 being brightest). For more info go to www.nps.gov/pefo/learn/nature/darkskies Outside of the Petrified Forest National Park in Holbrook, we recommend visiting Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Co. and the Navajo County Historical Society Museum. Nearest gas can be found at the Painted Desert Visitor Center or west down I-40 toward Holbrook at the Hopi Travel Plaza. In Holbrook, groceries can be found at Safeway and local restaurants include Camaleon Cafe, Butterfield Stage Co. Steak House and Mandarin Beauty and host of other Mexican and American restaurants. Trucks do come down Adamana Rd to the storage facility during the week though you probably won't hear or see them much. The train can be a bit loud and obnoxious for some (or a something exciting for the kids) depending on how frequently it passes through so ear plugs at night may be advised. I'm usually pretty accessible and close to my phone so feel free to message me with any questions you may have, before during or after your trip! ***Please read all rules and descriptions in the listing thoroughly before booking to make sure this listing is a good fit!*** We look forward to having you!

This property is located in the high desert of northeastern Arizona, near Holbrook and just minutes from the world-famous Petrified Forest National Park. The area is known for its wide-open landscapes, colorful badlands, fossilized wood, and expansive desert skies, creating a peaceful, scenic environment ideal for exploration, photography, and stargazing. The surrounding terrain is typical high desert at approximately 5,200 feet in elevation, featuring mostly flat to gently rolling land with native desert vegetation and distant panoramic views. Visitors can expect quiet surroundings, dramatic sunsets, and a strong sense of space and solitude. One of the main attractions nearby is Petrified Forest National Park, home to millions-of-years-old petrified logs, Painted Desert overlooks, and well-maintained scenic drives. The park offers short, easy hiking trails, pull-off viewpoints, and educational exhibits accessible to visitors of all ages. Public restrooms and amenities are available inside the national park at major visitor centers, including the Painted Desert Visitor Center and the Rainbow Forest Museum. These locations also provide drinking water, shaded picnic areas, gift shops, and park information. Additional services, such as gas, food, groceries, and lodging, are available in the town of Holbrook, roughly 20–30 minutes away. Holbrook is a historic Route 66 town, offering classic roadside diners, motels, museums, and petrified wood shops selling legally sourced pieces. Nearby campgrounds, RV parks, and hotels provide convenient overnight options, as the national park itself does not allow developed camping. Visitors should plan ahead by bringing water, sun protection, and appropriate footwear, as services outside of town and the park are limited. Wildlife such as coyotes, jackrabbits, birds, and lizards may be seen in the area, adding to the authentic desert experience. Overall, this property offers proximity to a nationally recognized natural landmark, easy access to essential amenities, and a unique high-desert setting that delivers both beauty and tranquility.

Chevelon Canyon Highlands

Welcome to the edge of the high desert. Set at the very end of a quiet dirt road, this 230-acre private property offers rare access to vast open space, dramatic canyon views, and true solitude. Located about 30 minutes off pavement, the drive in is part of the experience. A medium-clearance vehicle is recommended, though high-clearance 4x4 is not required. The final mile becomes a bit rough at a few spots that cross sandstone, but there are no major obstacles for a standard truck or SUV. Off-road or higher-clearance travel trailers are welcome, provided they are not excessively long or low to the ground. The land itself is expansive and immersive. With over a mile of Chevelon Creek forming the southern boundary, the property drops into a massive canyon with 300-foot cliffs, sweeping views, and a sense of scale that feels more like a national park than private land. Advanced rock climbers have quietly begun establishing rappel routes and sport climbs into the canyon. While climbing access is informal and at your own discretion, the remoteness and openness of the area has long made it a haven for experienced adventurers. To the north, the property borders a large stretch of BLM land, offering endless room to explore, hike, and roam without crowds. Despite the size and openness, the land feels remarkably private. There are no neighbors in sight, no traffic, and no noise beyond wind, birds, and the canyon below. This is a place for those seeking something rare: – Overlanders looking for space, views, and quiet – Adventurers and climbers drawn to wild terrain – Retreat groups wanting privacy, inspiration, and room to breathe – Anyone craving the feeling of being far away, without being unreachable If you’re looking for polished amenities and tight campsites, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for scale, silence, stars, and a landscape that stops you in your tracks, you’ve found something special.
