The road to the property is about 0.8 miles and is considered dirt rugged. It will require you to so down under 5 miles an hour in a few places. You have the entire road to travel on and maneuver around the big bumps. I drive my car to the property ever time and don't have an issue if I slow down and go around large holes. If there is a recent storm in the area the road will be difficult to navigate.

There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.

Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. During winter you MUST have a 4WD vehicle to access the property, particularly if there has been a significant snowfall recently. During a snowy period, access may require either cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling to the property from the main highway (approx 2.1 miles). If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter!

This is a quiet, rural neighborhood and a peaceful farm that borders the National Forest for easy hiking and few neighbors. The farm animals do cluck, crow, whinny, neigh, baa, bleat, squeal, and oink at various times, including early morning.
There is one mile of a somewhat bumpy gravel road with hills to reach our neighborhood, so please make sure you are ready for that and have adequate towing power. The nearest services and dining are 5 minutes away. We are about 25-30 minutes to Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek,
and the popular red rock hiking sites. There are many wineries and dining right down the road to enjoy.
1 hour to Flagstaff, 2 hours to Phoenix.

Dry camp on our beautiful one acre high desert oasis under the Milky Way. We are just 30 minutes south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where you will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We are one of the few places to dry camp just a few blocks off Hwy 64. It's only a 3 minute drive North to Grand Canyon Junction where Hwy 64 intersects with Hwy 180. At Grand Canyon Junction there is a convince store with clean bathrooms and it's loaded with snacks, souvenirs, apparel and even beautiful authentic Native American pottery and turquoise jewelry. One of my favorite long sleeve shirts is from this store. Double Eagle Trading Company nearby offers a fun browsing experience with authentic Native American goods and unique beautiful gifts. Catch a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon from Tusayan, AZ which is only 25 minutes north. Our property is dry camping only and it's pack in and pack out. Please don't leave any trash. There is a Tesla Supercharging station in Tusayan so for you Tesla lovers who love to dry camp you are all set! There are showers at Love's Travel Stop in Williams, AZ 30 minutes South which gets good reviews. The charming town of Williams, AZ is on Route 66 and there are lots of things to see and do. We look forward to hosting you and it's our hope you will create memories that will last a lifetime.

Enjoy campfires, mountain views and nature on this one acre property with easy access less than a mile from Highway 64. This campsite is 3.7 miles from Grand Canyon Junction for food, gas, water, and supplies, and 30 miles to Grand Canyon National Park.
There are two sites with fire pits and campfires are allowed but may be restricted during certain times when warm temperatures and high winds are forecasted. Please bring a shovel to clear the fire pit out if there is sand or leftover wood in it.
Other things to note:
From Highway 64, travel 0.85 miles east on Pine Rd to reach the property. The dirt road has some bumps but is accessible with a 2WD car when the road is dry but 4WD is recommended when there is snow or rain.
Also, since you will be traveling on an unmarked dirt road, it is advised to reach the campsite before dark so it easier to locate.
There are no toilets or water so campers will need to bring their own accommodations. Pack in and pack out policy applies.
Please check if there are any fire restrictions at the time of your visit and always adhere to state and local fire restrictions.

The road to the property is about 0.8 miles and is considered dirt rugged. It will require you to so down under 5 miles an hour in a few places. You have the entire road to travel on and maneuver around the big bumps. I drive my car to the property ever time and don't have an issue if I slow down and go around large holes. If there is a recent storm in the area the road will be difficult to navigate.

There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.

and the popular red rock hiking sites. There are many wineries and dining right down the road to enjoy.

Dry camp on our beautiful one acre high desert oasis under the Milky Way. We are just 30 minutes south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon where you will visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We are one of the few places to dry camp just a few blocks off Hwy 64. It's only a 3 minute drive North to Grand Canyon Junction where Hwy 64 intersects with Hwy 180. At Grand Canyon Junction there is a convince store with clean bathrooms and it's loaded with snacks, souvenirs, apparel and even beautiful authentic Native American pottery and turquoise jewelry. One of my favorite long sleeve shirts is from this store. Double Eagle Trading Company nearby offers a fun browsing experience with authentic Native American goods and unique beautiful gifts. Catch a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon from Tusayan, AZ which is only 25 minutes north. Our property is dry camping only and it's pack in and pack out. Please don't leave any trash. There is a Tesla Supercharging station in Tusayan so for you Tesla lovers who love to dry camp you are all set! There are showers at Love's Travel Stop in Williams, AZ 30 minutes South which gets good reviews. The charming town of Williams, AZ is on Route 66 and there are lots of things to see and do. We look forward to hosting you and it's our hope you will create memories that will last a lifetime.

There are two sites with fire pits and campfires are allowed but may be restricted during certain times when warm temperatures and high winds are forecasted. Please bring a shovel to clear the fire pit out if there is sand or leftover wood in it.
Other things to note:
From Highway 64, travel 0.85 miles east on Pine Rd to reach the property. The dirt road has some bumps but is accessible with a 2WD car when the road is dry but 4WD is recommended when there is snow or rain.
Also, since you will be traveling on an unmarked dirt road, it is advised to reach the campsite before dark so it easier to locate.
There are no toilets or water so campers will need to bring their own accommodations. Pack in and pack out policy applies.

Vicky made it easy to camp on her lovely piece of land. Her directions were clear, which was needed. Beware, there is a steep slope as you drop down onto the to river bottom land that holds the camp. An underpowered rig might have trouble. Each campsite felt cozy, and separate, placed 10-40 yards apart. The outhouses were very clean and we used her trash bin. The hike along the bottom land was great. We could hike to Tuzigot Historical Park. It was a very windy night, but we hardly noticed it. A great place to sleep well amidst beauty.

This is a Gem of a campground! You can tell Clifford really enjoys making the campground a great place to come and enjoy nature and unwind. Loved the store, the firewood, and the meditation/contemplation sitting area, the views, and the peace. The road to get there has some rough spots, but my AWD camper van did just fine, I thought of them as reminders to just slow down and enjoy the journey!

This is such a beautiful property in an amazing location. The campground was incredibly peaceful, spacious and private. This was the most peace we had on our long journey so far - it had a relaxing and magical energy. We saw deer in the evening just resting under the trees.

We had a great stay at Lone Cottonwood at Hawks Hideaway. Vicky was a wonderful host - friendly, responsive, and easy to communicate with. The site was quiet, peaceful, and close to town, which made it really convenient while still feeling tucked away.
The space worked well for our setup and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It’s a simple, well-kept spot that does exactly what you want it to do.
We’re looking forward to coming back when the tipi is set back up!

Such a perfect stay! The cabin is perfect size for two people and the hot tub was perfect as well. There’s bamboo outside that helps with the privacy which is very nice! The location puts you out in nature but also very close to downtown Cottonwood which was a blast to visit! We will for sure be back!

Increíble experience. Only stayed one night, but highlights included the majestic Zeus, a friendly farm dog, errant pigs running around, baby goats and sheep, and a turkey named Diamond that wanted a pet.
Our host was gracious and helpful, and was so warm and friendly to our 5 year old son. Highly recommend.

Our stay with Clifford was truly wonderful. Clifford is quite possibly the kindest person we have ever met. While we were en route to his site, we experienced several mechanical issues with our camper, and from the very first message Clifford was nothing but understanding, flexible, and incredibly supportive. He was so accommodating with our arrival time, endlessly patient, and always quick to respond — his communication alone instantly put us at ease during what could have been a very stressful situation.
We travelled from Los Angeles to Las Vegas over eight days, staying at several different camps along the way, and this was without question our favourite. The location is breathtakingly peaceful. The sky was unbelievably clear, allowing us to see more stars than we ever have before. Watching the sunrise from the site was genuinely magical, and the entire area felt calm, tranquil, and completely removed from the noise of everyday life. Most importantly, we felt entirely safe and welcome throughout our stay.
This is the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave — not just because of the stunning surroundings, but because of the warmth and generosity of the host. We loved the site so much we joked about moving in with Clifford… and honestly, we’re only half joking.
Thank you, Clifford, for such a special and unforgettable experience. We would return in a heartbeat.

This was such a wonderful stay! The kitchen had everything and then some, the cabin was good sized for 4 adults and a dog, the bathroom and home were very clean, plenty of firewood and so many other great things.

The location, surrounding, and host were awesome! We enjoyed our nightly owl visit and Vicky’s great stories about her connection to the area. Nice and close to Sedona. We stayed an extra night to take in the nearby hiking and ruins. Highly recommend staying here!
