When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study. We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead. There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area. Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream. Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature. Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects. You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. We had an amazing time! The whole area was well taken care of and the camp sites were spacious. Little to no noise which made for a peaceful night. Will be coming back!

A little tricky to find but the perfect distance away from civilization. The gounds were well maintained, lots of shade, benches, places to walk and peace. Site #6 i knew was the one for us since it was far from the other sites and you really felt a lot of privacy. Hoping to bring more friends next time!

Vicky’s property was a great place to camp. Although just a couple of miles from Old Town Cottonwood, it was quiet and secluded. You could access a trail along the Verde River in a few minutes or just relax at your campsite and listen to farm animals nearby. The campsites were good sized with ample space between them. The porta potties were well maintained as were the campsites. The campsites were dusty, but that’s just the way Arizona is. Morning visits from Buddy the dog were especially appreciated by my pups. Yes, I would recommend Hawks Hidaway.

A good site to stop for a night near Sedona. Sites are not too close though still can see other campers. Appreciate there’s a hose, my dog had a really great time playing with the host’s pup in the morning.

Nice place to stay on our way to Sedona. Mostly private with only a few campsites nicely spread out. Pretty hike to the river. Easy to get to.

Fantastic hipcamp. Beautiful views, level sites with picnic tables and fire rings, gorgeous trees, sounds of the river, 7 minute drive to old town Cottonwood and Vicky the host (and her sweet dog Buddy) are wonderful. Clean porta potty's as well! Will definitely be back :) Thank you Vicky!

Campsite was very peaceful, very friendly campsite dog, beautiful hiking areas including some waterfall scapes. Definitely recommend, Vicky is amazing host. Wished our schedule permitted us to stay much longer, definitely will return for another Camp time.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hawk’s Hideaway! The property is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of shade from the large trees throughout the campground. Each site had a nice picnic table and fire ring, which made meals and evenings by the fire super convenient. The porta potties were impressively clean—definitely some of the best we’ve seen at a campground. The kids had a blast exploring and playing around the property, and they especially enjoyed watching the cows and horses at the neighboring ranch. “Buddy,” the owners’ friendly dog, was another highlight—our kids looked forward to every visit from him! We even spotted a few deer wandering through in the early morning, which made the experience feel extra special. Access to the Verde River was easy, even with several young kids (all under 10), and it made for a perfect little adventure. The campsite was very easy to find and access, and overall, the stay was peaceful and family-friendly. We’ll definitely be coming back—highly recommend Hawk’s Hideaway to anyone looking for a relaxing, scenic getaway in Cottonwood!

Pretty well kept. Porta potties were clean which I dont see often so that was awesome. Sites are pretty, you get to wake up to nearby farm animals which I liked. Overall good experience. Sites are dirt so if its rainy would be muddy but should be fine as long you choose a elevated spot for your tent so gravel would make these Sites perfect but still a good experience and safe area so worth a stay imo
