There are a couple of level spots for your tents, as well as a nice rock fire pit for you to use and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery.

There’s also a composting toilet by the tent or just let us know if you’d like to use the toilet in the small cabin behind us. Here at Kahu Farm we offer a secluded site for your peace and enjoyment! We’ve cut trails through the property where you can walk around. Feel free to stop up at the house to visit with the friendliest Nigerian Dwarf goats and their kids or stop by the outdoor kitchen for your all natural mosquito and Tick repellent made right here that actually works. We also make artisan soaps that are available for purchase. Try a sample of them in the outdoor shower! Check in time is 3 pm and checkout by noon! If you need to come early or stay late just msg me and depending on other bookings we can see if that’s available. There’s so much to do around here or you can simply relax! We are a short drive or bicycle ride to Nachez Trace Parkway, and we have 3 kayaks that we rent out for a small fee. We will drop you off and pick you up! We stopped in for one night on our way up to Kentucky but couldn’t be happier with our experience. We chose the playground spot as we didn’t need hookups but there was a big homeschool group there so Wayne and Mary moved us to an empty spot on the other side of the campground which was amazing! Hot showers, flushing toilets and a camp kitchen were a surprising treat! The hospitality was through the roof! Highly recommend their space!

Our fist time we tent camped at Bates farms. It was the perfect place and beautiful scenery all around. The second stay was a 10 day Rv camping. My spot i needed electricity hook up. I was close to restrooms, shower house, washer and dryer also ice was available there was an ice machine. My stay was very convenient close to where I needed to be. If you love to walk and explore like I do you want be disappointed. Beautiful place and nature all around.

Weekend Trip to Kahu Farm
What an amazing stay. We spent most of our first day exploring the surrounding area and left out early the next day to continue our trip, but would love to come back when we're able to spend more time enjoying the peaceful and beautiful nature. Also, to spend more time with the pups and meet all the other animals:)
The cool and laid back evening in the comfy woven chairs descending into music and laughter in a campsite all to ourselves... Soothed my Soul! Then falling asleep to the harmonious frogs and crickets... divine!

Overnight stay but hosts were very accommodating and pleasant to talk to. Had the 30amp service/water needed and a nice view while staying. Shower/restroom facilities were clean and they offer some snacks and drinks in their secure bldg. If your into archery they have a nice extensive range w/numerous 3d targets throughout.
I would stop by again if my travels took me though that area again.

This was our second stay here, and was just what we needed to escape Nashville for a night.
The site is next to a small pond and was just as enjoyable as we remembered. We expected mosquitoes because of the water, but they were surprisingly minimal all weekend. We did get a few tiny ticks.
The biggest change since our last visit is the trees. They’ve leafed out enough that getting a hammock hung is much more difficult now. I ended up using my Haven XL stand instead, so I wouldn’t consider this site hammock friendly anymore unless you don’t mind spending time looking for a workable hang.
It was hot and humid during our stay, but the frogs made up for it once evening came. I even put my action camera in the pond hoping to capture some underwater wildlife. No fish or turtles, but the tannin-colored water was incredibly clear.
We’ll definitely be back. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for a quiet weekend surrounded by nature.
