We are a working farm with staff tending to various jobs throughout the day. We have a map to show some of the popular locations campers have enjoyed in the past, but it is first come first serve. We intentionally leave some of our fields uncut. In some fields, the grass can come up above the knees. If you are picky with the grass, these are pastures on a farm and we do not cut them. We leave that to the animals to take care of. All of our staff are super friendly and happy to help guide you to the best camping spot and answer any questions. In searching for your campsite please note that there may be livestock in and around certain areas as we rotate pastures. We have a working farm with sweeping views of Lookout mountain and only 12 minutes from all the comforts of downtown Chattanooga. Our expansive 120-acre property provides campers with the freedom to choose their camping spots anywhere on the farm. Farm animals include horses, cattle, hogs, chickens, goats, bees, stocked ponds, gardens and much more. We have strategically placed signs throughout the property to help you identify potential neighbors. If you desire the company of ducks, consider setting up camp near our picturesque duck pond. For those who prefer the rustic crowing of roosters to a phone alarm, we have four chicken coops dispersed across the farm. Our horses freely roam the front pastures. The cows enjoy grazing on lush grass and taking refreshing dips in the ponds. They also relish watching the sunset from the hill's vantage point, as it offers the best view on the farm. We are a working farm with staff tending to various jobs throughout the day. We have a map to show some of the popular locations campers have enjoyed in the past, but it is first come first serve. We intentionally leave some of our fields uncut. In some fields, the grass can come up above the knees. If you are picky with the grass, these are pastures on a farm and we do not cut them. We leave that to the animals to take care of. All of our staff are super friendly and happy to help guide you to the best camping spot and answer any questions. In searching for your campsite please note that there may be livestock in and around certain areas as we rotate pastures. Please respect farm rules and do not camp in a pasture with cattle and do not enter any gated area without speaking to someone on the farm who knows which fields the cattle is in. Potable well water can be located from the blue spigot outside of the staff housing area, in between the orange and green tiny home, and outside the outdoor shower. Fire rings and chopped wood are ready for you to borrow and return by the outdoor shower area. We only stayed one night at the tent but loved every minute! Grant called before we arrived to give us directions to the site so we would be prepared when we arrived in the dark. Everything was easy to find, just as he said. The trampoline was more comfortable than we expected! Bring extra towels in case of condensation. The area under the trampoline was perfect for food prep and hanging out. Above all, the waterfall was BEAUTIFUL! The short “hike” from the tent to the falls was easy for us and our German Shepherd to navigate. We had a wonderful time- can’t wait to return!

The host was very nice and made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed the campsite and had a blast. The hiking trails off of the site were just challenging enough to make it exciting, but not impossible for people with little experience. I’d highly recommend the zoo near the site. We were at the bobcat tent site and could hear the lions and hyenas at night from our campfire. Highly recommend!

LOVED this campsite! As soon as we showed up we added another night lol We have been on the road for about 2 weeks and it was one of my favorite stops. We’re traveling in a 23ft converted school bus and had zero problems finding the property and picking a spot. This space was absolutely perfect for hosting my friends and I for tent camping! The ability to put food in their fridge was big help. The site is close to beautiful waterfall hiking trails (less than 10 minutes away from trailheads) so we didn't have to go far to enjoy nature. The port-a-potty/shower facilities are nothing fancy but available and for a night, were perfectly sufficient. Would recommend and utilize again!

We decided to camp here last minute, and we loved it! The view was great, we were secluded and it felt like we were in our own little place. It was very relaxing, and the owners were very kind to not only us, but my kid too. ( Bonus points for Zed for tricking my fiancé into running to beat his lawnmower 🤣 ) we try to camp at a new location every trip, but we are already planning on being back here! We were the first campers there, and were able to choose our spot! You can also purchase wood and they will bring it to the spot of your choosing!

It was a great time camping at Dark Hollow. Danny met us right when we arrived and showed us around and since we were the first ones there for the day he let us choose the exact site we wanted. Zed was also great and was there whenever we had a question or needed anything. The views were great, the hike to the creek at the bottom was easy, and the add on firewood extra was definitely worth the $15. Would stay at Dark Hollow again!

This was my first ever Hipcamp experience so I don't really know how it compares. I'll say it was easy to find, a comfortable spot, and I met someone the day we left at their store and she was very friendly. They were very hands off and allowed us to just show up and go do our thing. As others have stated, you definitely notice the trains. Trains seem to be a love or hate sort of a thing. Very beautiful piece of land though and great facilities. We tent camped with the kids and a dog.
