The property features a 1 1/2 acre pond stocked with catfish and bream and has a nice little dock with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy the water.
There are animals! I have a beloved Scottish Highland cow named Genia and she is joined with two mini bulls and two mini cows. Various numbers of Nigerian Dwarf goats join them in the pasture. There are also a few chickens.
Small garden beds and a fruit orchard are on the property and I usually have at least a half dozen projects of one sort or another going on.
Several acres are wooded and there is ample space for a nature trail that I try to keep maintained. Several of the usual types wildlife can be seen.
Are you an artist or a writer? This is a great place for comtemplation and inspiration. I myself have 40 years experience as an art teacher and professor. If you would like to have a mini workshop, let me help.
Water is available not far from the campsites. There is also a portable pop up potty/shower tent (with bucket and seat) available.

1.3 acre property hidden in small town Glencoe, AL. Beautiful tall pines enclose this beautiful site in front of an old public cemetery plot that's rarely visited but has a pathway through the woods for exploring, a circle path we named Panther Path will lead you right back to camp. (The name Panther Path has a story. Basically keep an eye out for black panthers in these parts.) Our family and farm animals live on the property as well (Don't mind the rooster in the AM) but there's plenty of room to pitch a tent, bring your small camper or smaller skoolie (If rig is over 25 feet please message me after booking and we can figure out how to accommodate your rig best before arrival.) There is plenty of room for a couple tents as well if you are traveling as a group, amenities include: a brick fire circle, wood garden set for sitting with small table and some privacy from our family but a lot of privacy from the outside world, the graveyards are free to explore, but if you go in the gated one we ask that you relatch the gate.
Firewood can be ready at your campsite for an additional cost. We have seasonal events as well as a farm stand, a bus shop, and a greenhouse. (These are still projects in progress.)
We have two dogs, Boogie - a male and a very large dog, LGD - Livestock Guardian Dog, her name is Maple. Both dogs are very nice and kind. Maple's job is to protect our ducks and chickens from predators. She will bark but she will not hurt you. She will especially love you if you have treats or say 'Hello, Maple!" We will try to have her put away before bookings if enough notice is given. She will not hurt a human, she knows her job and duty on our homestead but she can be nosy as she runs the perimeter of our property often. If you have a fear of dogs or would like to make sure she is put up just send me a message beforehand and I will make sure she is put away secure. She also will not mind other dogs but please make sure if you bring a pet it is kind to other animals and we expect all pets are leashed at all times unless inside your rig.

The river right next to the site was so nice. It was great to have the deck and the covered area that we used as a camp kitchen. We put up two tents around the fire ring and had plenty of room. Access to the river is direct and easy. There was an area the dogs were able to use to get in and out as well. It wasn’t muddy and we didn't have any trouble getting to the site in our 2wd trucks. The provided directions were very clear and easy to follow. The neighbors do have a driveway that passes near the site, but they weren't disruptive or traveling in and out after quiet hours.

This is a beautiful place to be. Its off-grid, well-maintained and perfect trails for hiking. The best part is the host who makes you feel like family and is so welcoming to everyone. I would highly recommend staying at this campground. P1 sight is very easy access with lots of room.

Very friendly, rustic and quaint. We slet in the cabin and it felt like sleeping in a treehouse. Trails were not that hard of a hike. The river was worth the small trek! Showers were nice and the composting toliet was surprisingly very clean. Clothing optional was easier than we thought and we didn't want to leave. Pro tip: bring a portable battery operated fan during the summer months.

What a wonderful camping experience. My dog and I had the pleasure of staying at tent site C6 by the pond. Leigh was kind and helpful when checking us in and showing us to our campsite. The campsite itself was spacious, mostly flat, clean and very private. We enjoyed taking short hikes and kayaking and swimming the pond. I didn't take advantage of the service, but loved that there was a campsite delivery store. I also didn't take full advantage of the bath house but am so glad I stopped to check it out... very clean showers, bathroom stalls, dish sink and even a water bottle filling station.
The only dowside is that the property is VERY hilly, with a couple of steep grades on the way to the campsite that my front-wheel-drive car struggled with a little. Some of the hiking trails we took also had some steep hills that seemed extra taunting in the heat of summer.
All that to say, we had a wonderful time and I will definitely be back.

This is one of the most peaceful and well kept campgrounds we have been to. The bath house is the best when it comes to cleanliness and privacy. The catch and release pond has some decent sized bass. The trails are well maintained and lead to some beautiful views. The creek has some pretty sites and is a great place to cool off on these hot summer days. If you're looking for a place to relax and get away from reality for a few days, this is the place. We can't wait to be back!

Dustin was incredibly welcoming, even though we arrived late. Platform 6 was private and secluded, with a view of part of the creek and a short trail (about 5 minutes) down to the water. The morning swim was the perfect way to start the day.
The parking area is a short walk from the platform, so a lil wagon, or backpack is helpful for hauling your gear.
We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it!

Knew I'd enjoy myself, didn't anticipate that I'd love it as much as I did! Dustin and the guests at the retreat were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and any nervousness I had as a first-timer here was washed away very quickly. A lovely community like this leads to beautiful campgrounds as well -- P2 gave me plenty of space to spread out and enjoy myself in solitude.
For those debating on which site to pick:
- As mentioned already, the walk from parking to P2 isn't trivial and is best done carrying all your items down with a backpack. It's at the bottom of a steep hill, about 5-7 minutes. I didn't personally mind it as I spent most of my time enjoying myself at my campsite, wandering the trails, or lazing at the watering hole.
- I think this info hasn't updated in the online maps or description yet; the privy by P2 also has its own sink/potable water station. Real game changer and incredibly convenient. The privy is also very clean and great to have nearby.
- Creek access was amazing. Not quite as deep or nice as the swimming hole, but still swimmable in parts and plenty to see and wade in.
- P2 is relatively private, but if others are staying on your side of the hill you will probably see them as they walk by the privy. I first thought I'd mind, found quickly that I didn't. If more privacy is important to you, you might want to check out FF3 or P3. I think I'd personally prefer P2 due to the large space, creek access, and proximity to the water station.

My friend group and I had a phenomenal experience tent camping by the Pond at Bohamia. We enjoyed swimming and canoeing in the spring fed pond, which was incredibly refreshing as there was a heat-wave while we were camping. The Pond area has the feel of camping in a secluded area, it was lovely as we had the entire pond to ourselves (we were the only tent-campers braving the heat.)
We enjoyed learning about the property from the host/co-owner. She is super personable and friendly. Our pups enjoyed exploring and relaxing in the ample shade by the pond.
We were impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities. It was so nice to have access to a kitchen sink so we could easily clean up our cookware without wasting drinking water.
Overall Bohamia was by far one of the best campsites we’ve experienced thus far.

This campsite is so easy to camp at. Danny has Dark Hollow so well setup, maintained, and organized. The property has everything a tent camper looking for a creek spot to leisurely explore.
We tent camped for 2 nights. I have a small car, which allowed me to pull right up to the campsite we chose, named “The Ledge.” We had a fire pit, picnic table, immediate trailhead access, and a view I dream of waking up to always.
We spent hours exploring the creek, laying out in the sun, birdwatching, and more. The trails are easy to follow, however, you need hiking boots. I would say the trails we did were easy with moderate-difficult areas depending on how far you decide to go.
If you are someone who loves simple outdoor camping, book a few nights at Dark Hollow. There is an outdoor propane powered shower at the top of the campground, an outhouse toward the bottom/middle, a spigot for utility water, and trash cans. There is an option to add on firewood; I didn’t have to haul bundles of it in my tiny car.
Oh, man. We had the best time here.
I highly suggest Dark Hollow for tent campers who want to explore outside of public parks.
