There are a couple of level spots for your tents, as well as a nice rock fire pit for you to use and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery.

While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime.

Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited.
The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. This beautiful place has been in my family for 3 generations. Since I was a child I loved having campfires and hiking. I used to imagine cabins speckling its landscape and story’s being told by travelers from far off places! Now that I am owner I can and will build those dreams and share them with as many folks as come to visit us! There’s 60 acres of hills for hiking a peaceful creek for meditation or just stick your feet in! A beautiful bamboo grove where we plan to build a camping platform in the very near future and you’ll be able to sleep in tha bamboo forest! We’ve come a long way in the last year, we have platforms, tents we can set up as glampers for those that love the idea but don’t want to have to set it all up. There’s several old buildings and unfinished projects left behind from my father we have a series of small cabins we will be building with them over the next 2 years it’ll be called “Boho Bottom”. We also host events, so far they are few and small but so much fun!! There is currently one communal bathroom with several more due to be built in the next year or so. As campers come the profit will help with future site development. Look forward to more updates as things develop!! We look forward to camp with you!

Rachael and Neel were so kind and helpful to me. I was traveling through town with my pup and needed a night on the road. This camp was perfect for my dog Roux. She was able to enjoy being outside while I set up camp and we enjoyed a wonderful morning by the lake before another long day on the road. The shower and bathroom were clean and easy to use. 10/10 would recommend.

This was our first time glamping, and we really enjoyed our stay! The campground was peaceful and beautiful, and our tent looked out into the trees with a view of the creek below. There was also a trail to explore and a beautiful pond with lots of ducks. It really felt like a special place.
They truly thought of so many details. Our tent had lights, charging stations, nightstands, , a fridge, plenty of sleeping space, towels, bottled water, a Keurig and just about everything we could need. We ordered firewood and s’mores, but there was also a propane fire option available. Even the path to our tent was lit at night, which made everything feel magical.
The bathrooms and showers were clean and centrally located. The tents are fairly close together, but ours still felt peaceful and had a wonderful view from the deck.
We happened to stay during extremely hot weather, close to 100°F, so keeping the tent cool was a challenge. Overall, though, we had a wonderful first glamping experience and really appreciated how much thought went into making the tents comfortable and welcoming!

The site was nice and clean we did do a little hiking to the cave but mostly just slept there. We had everything we needed.

Another perfect camping trip at camp 222! As usual, the grounds were perfect. We saw plenty of geese and ducks and other wildlife. For those who haven’t been yet, this is par for the course. The port-a potty was very clean. We had enough firewood, that was provided free of charge. We had power, we had water, we had a hot outdoor shower that was just amazing! We had everything that we needed to enjoyed ourselves. It was three generations… myself, my son and my grandson! My grandson, who is 10…it was his first ever camping trip and we couldn’t keep him calm down enough, nor did we try to ! Thank you so much Rachel ! We look forward to another outstanding trip back !!

Overnight stay but hosts were very accommodating and pleasant to talk to. Had the 30amp service/water needed and a nice view while staying. Shower/restroom facilities were clean and they offer some snacks and drinks in their secure bldg. If your into archery they have a nice extensive range w/numerous 3d targets throughout.
I would stop by again if my travels took me though that area again.

Property was great! The host's instructions were great to get there as well since it's a bit out of the way to get there. Definitely listen to the reviews though! Really tight to get there and would recommend 4WD pretyy heavily. We went up with two new Gen tacomas and made it there with little issue. Mine is 4WD and the other was 2WD. The 2WD tacoma made it through the ruts but some spots were slightly challenging to get through so just be cautious. The brush is really thick since we went on July 4th so the trucks got scratched up a lot so just keep that in mind if you decide to drive to the campsite. If you decide not to drive in the site is accessible by a 15 minute level ground hike in from the parking spots. Definitely an awesome view and a good campsite with lots of privacy. Plus since we went on 4th of July we were able to see some firework shows going on! Will definitely be back sometime!

Roy and Sharon are absolutely amazing people. This was my first camping experience without my husband so I was a bit nervous at first. They are very kind and welcoming!! The property itself has trails to some amazing views and it’s a short drive to the trials of Bankhead and Sipsey. It’s complete serenity. No noise pollution you’d hear in the city, just bliss. They have several power outlets and wifi which made keeping in touch with family a breeze. The outdoor shower is another perk so you can wash the days sweat off. Honestly, leaving a review doesn’t give this site and the host justice. Reserve your spot and know you will be beyond satisfied. I’ve been gone one day and I’m already trying to figure out when I can go back.

Weekend Trip to Rock Creek Retreat & Ventures
To say my fiancé and I really enjoyed ourselves, is an understatement!! We kayak and do remote primitive camping on the side of rivers 1-2 every summer. This was a genuine relaxing vacation compared to those trips. We showed up on a Friday and immediately explored the water while we let the air run in our dome to cool it down a little. Some parts of the creek are knee deep but for the most part it’s pretty shallow. Which was perfect for us! We did experience thunderstorms, but it was actually very soothing!! Hated we couldn’t do a fire the first night but made the most of it with sandwiches and snacks! The next day we spent all day down in the creek. We took our chairs that came with the dome and placed them in the deepest part of the creek. That was SO relaxing! We loved it! Sat for hours! When we got hungry we made a fire and cooked some hotdogs! The table and chairs inside the dome were great to eat at and cool down with the fan in front of us before going back down to the water. We used the griddle for dinner to cook our bacon and burgers, while we used the attached rack in the fire pit to cook our canned baked beans and potatoes! We ate great!! The bed was very comfortable for us, we aren’t that picky since we usually are on the ground. The power bank was a great plus and came in handy when we were stuck inside from the rain. We talked the whole night about coming back with friends and family! We really really enjoyed ourselves and will be back! Thank you, Kara!
