Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them. Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more. Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather. Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much. The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today. Visiting The Bolo Club will be like stepping back in time to a slower pace where hopefully you will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and spirit of the farm.Learn more about this land:The Bolo Club has a unique combination of accommodations and activities, making it the perfect getaway. You owe it to yourself, so take the time to slow down, relax, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and atmosphere where country meets comfort! Learn more about this land: Situated just outside of Columbia, TN (one of the state's most up-and-coming cities) and right on the same road as our 11th President, James K. Polk, once lived - Peekaboo Meadows & The Big Red Barn are waiting to welcome you! Pull in, drive down the grass road and over the small creek, put it in park at the barn and go stretch your legs on the 4o+ acres surrounding. During the day, feel welcome to walk the serene meadows or take a cleared trail up the ridge to the treehouse! Don't be surprised to be greeted by all kinds of wildlife including deer, turkey, foxes, or our goofy, fun-loving Golden Doodle named "Shme." If walking isn't your thing, you are welcome to drive around (4wd recommended) to go scout out where you'd like to set up camp for the night. If you prefer more peace and privacy, there are two beautiful meadows to choose from which both reach deeper into the property. If you'd prefer the comfort of additional shelter, you are welcome to park and/or set yourself up at the barn instead (which is a little closer to the main road). There is power to the barn - providing light, 30AMP power for RV hookup, as well as an electrical receptacle that you can run your extension chords from. For the extra adventurous - you may want to take a hike up "Thornbush Trail," which follows the ridge right up the middle of the property and has beautiful views of both meadows to either side. Or, for a more direct route, take a walk right up our dirt access road to the upper ridge, where you can peek through the treeline for beautiful elevated views eastward toward Columbia. Our treehouse (in progress) is located right at the top of the access road. Though the treehouse has not yet been completed, feel free to climb the 20' ladder up the inside of the hollowed out trunk and pop your head out the top! It sure makes a great photo! Come back to the barn area in the evening to lounge in the hammock, hang out around the picnic table, or cook dinner and roast some marshmallows over the wood burning fire pit with cooking grill attachment (fireside tools & 1 bundle of firewood provided). One filtered and cooled 5 gallon portable Igloo water cooler will also be provided and placed on the picnic table outside the barn. One rolling 96 gallon covered trash bin will be placed inside the barn (please bag your trash). "Luggable Loo" portable compost toilet is also available for use inside the barn. Tho cell & wifi are spotty here on the farm, we will provide one walkie talkie during your stay for direct communication with the main residence, should there be any issues or needs that arise. On the flip side, privacy is respected and use of the electronics is completely at your discretion! For recreation (each within 15-20 minutes of the farm):   1. Williamsport Public Fishing Lakes for fishing or kayaking   2. Stillhouse Hollow Falls Trail   3. Maury County Park with paved walking trail   Yummy food:   1. Puckett's Grocery and Restaurant (Also check out Hattie Jane's Creamery right next door for dessert!)  2. Shaffer Farms BBQ  3. Buck and Board Eatery 4. South Ahan (Thai) 5. China Chef (Chinese) If you're still itchin' for things to do or food to eat, we're certainly glad to provide further recommendations! Monte Sano Mountain rises quietly above Huntsville, Alabama—an unflashy ridge of limestone and shadow that holds more history and wilderness than most who pass it ever realize. It is not a mountain of spectacle but of mood, of subtle discoveries, and of quiet resistance to modern noise. Its slopes are threaded with forgotten wagon paths, foot-worn trails, and the slow, unrelenting work of water. Caves open like cracks in time. Small waterfalls cut through dense forest and vanish into the ground. Towering trees—oak, hickory, and poplar—form a green cathedral overhead, filtering light in ways that feel reverent. In some pockets, the air still carries the chill of the earth itself. Beneath the surface runs a deeper story. Long before Huntsville pushed east, Monte Sano offered its elevation to the sick, the curious, and the stubborn. Tuberculosis patients came in the 19th century, seeking healing in the mountain’s clean, dry air. Naturalists cataloged rare plants here. Native peoples traveled and camped across its ridgelines, long before names were given or boundaries drawn. And yet, despite the time that has passed, the mountain remains unpolished—intact. For those who seek true solitude, a few primitive campsites are available through Hipcamp. These are not curated experiences. There are no toilets. No showers. No host waiting with coffee or gear. Just a trail, a flat spot in the woods, and the sound of your own boots on rock. It is camping reduced to its essential form: a place to lie down among trees and stars, with nothing between you and the mountain but time.

We welcome all to our nature preserve for its restorative energy, uplifting the mind, body, and soul. Helping guests unwind is one of our passions. Kathleen is a licensed massage therapist, offering chair and table massage and energy work, a chi machine, ionic detoxing foot baths, and other therapies for improving overall well-being. And check out our extensive library as well. To keep the vibe sacred, we ask that guests on our land stay clean and sober. We are inspired to hold space for guests to heal on all levels, to feel whole, at peace and refreshed. We've built 4 cabins, a greenhouse, dug ponds and nurtured dozens of trees and gardens in the past 9 years. We are near (2 miles) The Farm Community, and within a 1/2 hour drive of historic cities of Columbia, Mt. Pleasant, Ethridge, and Lawrenceburg, the scenic Natchez Trace, and 2 lovely state parks. Feel free to wander around the 11 acres, engaging with the landscaping and art installations, while allowing privacy for guests and hosts around their cabins. The surrounding gardens and meadows and forest are for your walking and viewing pleasure. You are welcome to pick mints and samples of other herbs from the meadow and the 2 long garden beds down the slope from the driveway. There is a small fish and lotus pond on the south side of the chalet which you are welcome to visit, as well as many areas for walking and sitting meditation in the meadows and forest. The land boundaries are a line of arborvitae evergreens on the south, fencing on the east and north, and the chert road on the west. Next door on the north side are miniature horses and a large scenic pond within view of our open wooded slope we call "Sunset Hill." Our country road is safe for walking but there are no sidewalks, so step aside for passing vehicles. You can get a 9/10s of a mile walk up and down our country road without going off road or onto a highway.

We welcome all to our nature preserve for its restorative energy, uplifting the mind, body, and soul. Helping guests unwind is one of our passions. We have a nature and botanical preserve here, with edible and medicinal plants, dense forest, open forest, wildflowers, meadows, a courtyard, gardens. Thus we are feeding birds, bees, butterflies and wild bunnies! Guests find a peace in soaking up the forest and meadow vibes. Guests may also schedule a visit to the Relaxation Station for personal attention in our "healing spa." Kathleen is a licensed massage therapist, offering chair and table massage and energy work, a chi machine, ionic detoxing foot baths, and other therapies for improving overall well-being.
