This is a wonderful 10 x 10 cabin with a large loft & great views. Quiet walking trails. ATV trails for days. There is fishing at Barker Dam in Nederland. There is an extra large hammock that is great to hang out in. There is also a bird feeder hanging from the tree. Please feed the birds but do not leave food laying around outside. Be wary of Moose, Bears & Mountain Lions. They have been seen in the area from time to time. The futon down stairs is very comfortable and cots up stairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with an Air tight wood stove to keep you warm at nights. To use the wood stove open the flue and pull metal handles in front out to activate air flow. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The B&F grocery store is in Nederland. You can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles Take some water up with you. There is a 3 burner Coleman stove to cook on. Limited pots & pans as well as silver wear. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful. No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there. Recommend vehicles with AWD. This is to hopefully prepare you. Please think about these things before you book and by all means have a wonderful time at our little slice of heaven Our motto leave it better then you found it and please pack out your trash. Note, if coming from a lower altitude grabe some oxygen cans @ the B&F grocery store. We are @ 10,000 feet. It is a slight hike to cabin. There are extra sleeping bags in the loft if needed. When leaving please make sure both door locks are locked, put key in lock box and mix code for next camper. Please check in rules & safety. Copy & past information on fire bans to check. In the winter you will need to snowshoe to hike in. Thanks, Cole

Perfect weekend getaway! We were looking for a secluded trip to the mountains, and Cabin Wilder was the perfect spot. Stunning views, cozy little cabin — this little 10x10 is a wilderness oasis. Cole was also super helpful before our trip in providing detailed instructions, and responded very quickly to questions. Would definitely stay here again!
Deep in the mountain
Coming in a bit on the late side, the cabin was challenging to find in the dark, but that’s what I loved about the place. Seclusion is just what I was looking for. Cole keeps this shack stocked with all kinds of goods that’ll make your stay more enjoyable. I kept the wood fireplace rolling all night long and was even welcomed in the morning with a fresh dusting of snow. Couldn’t have been better.
Great alt to winter camping
Cabin Wilder was a wonderful camping alternative south of Rocky Mtn NP. We loved the view waking up and the town of Nederland close by. The wood burning furnace made the cabin very cozy at night, and the bed was comfortable as well. It was pretty cold while we were there (November) so this was a great way for us to sorta camp yet stay warm.
A few notes:
like others have said, getting up here is a bit bumpy. We have an AWD outback and we were fine but I could see some 2wd cars having a sketchy time getting out and in.
The path to the cabin is a bit of a grade drop so be prepared to haul your stuff back up to your car. The altitude made this more difficult than we expected- even though we are both otherwise in good shape.
The altitude is high for those of us not from the mountains. We are from Texas but even when we lived In Wyoming I’m a little notorious for having altitude sickness and sleeping problems related to altitude. If your from lower elevation you can stop by the local store and get oxygen cans. They honestly can be a vacation changer.
Overall- we enjoyed the cabin and town and would go back again.
Great quiet stay
A great place to stay in the mountains!! The place is super cozy and the wood burning stove kept us very warm. Very remote, which is exactly what we wanted, but only 15 minutes from Nederland. Would come back!
The view from the front porch is worth everything. Cole made sure we had good instructions to get there and was so generous having fire wood ready to keep the place cozy. The cabin is easy to sleep in with just enough room for three dogs and all our stuff. We’re definitely coming back!! Thank you for the great experience Cole!
Didn’t want to leave!
Stunning views, quiet spot, cozy cabin and kick ass wood burning stove. Those are my wishes whenever I want a little getaway to the mountains and Cabin Wilder delivered and then some.
The host was very quick to reply to my questions. I had made a mistake on my booking dates, but Cole was extremely helpful and flexible. I was able to change my dates and show up to the cabin in more and less one hour notice. Absolutely outstanding hospitality.
I had a great time at the cabin and can’t wait to go back.
