This property has been in the family for 35 years. It is a friendly and safe community area. We have chickens that may roam during the day and some times of the year we have pigs in a pen on the property you can visit.
Our dog Chester is a big golden retriever who loves everyone, but will notify us when you drive up. He is in a GPS fence, so he will not bug you.

These are newly developed sites (2021) nested on the back of our property about 200ft from our house on a dead-end road. We have rural neighborhood vibe, with a 2 mile scenic paved walking path nearby. We have newly planted trees and shrubs, so not much afternoon shade. With the open areas sunrises and sunsets are fantastic!
Both back in sites are 40’ in length with extra vehicle parking available. Please confirm your measurements before booking. There is enough room to easily pull in and then back into your spot. Ideal for Class-A motor-homes, fifth wheels, tent trailers, travel trailers, pick-up campers and self-contained van campers. Additionally, 1 tent is allowed at each site. Because there are no bathrooms we are unable to accept TENT ONLY camping at this time.
Both campsites have full hookups including artisan well water, septic, with 50 amp electric on site #2 and 30 & 50 amp electric on site #3. Garbage receptacle is located by the east side of the greenhouse.
Plenty to see and do in the Flathead Valley. Lots of wonderful local restaurants, pubs, breweries and wineries. Tons of trails to hike, rivers to raft, lakes to boat and parks to stroll. We have a list of our favorites, don’t hesitate to ask!

Kick back and relax! This site is perfect for stunning sunrises and sunsets. It’s a great spot to stop for the night after a long drive or stay a couple weeks and explore all the Valley has to offer.
The site can accommodate any size RV with slides and many parking options. The spot is grass and may require very minimal leveling. There is power at the site. There is a hose that can be hooked up and left on or you can just fill up. There is a gravel area with a picnic table and fire pit.
Don’t be surprised if you get a visit from some local wildlife. There are many deer, elk, bunnies and turkeys that frequent the property.
After dark, Montana weather permitting, there is crystal clear views of the Milky Way, shooting stars, constellations, and occasionally you can see the Northern Lights!
The owners are on the property, so please feel free to call or text with any questions, concerns, or if you need some suggestions on the area! We have been here for generations and can help guide you on dining, visiting the park, local Breweries and Distilleries, farmer’s markets, hiking, fishing, water sports, motor cross, skiing, snowshoeing and many more!

This was our 2nd stay at The Back of the Moon. First time we stayed at the Wolf Moon site and this time at Buck Moon. Wolf Moon is a little bigger with a picnic table for hanging out and eating outdoors. Buck Moon is a little smaller but still plenty of space. It is a peaceful spot and sits up on the hill with a filtered view of the pond at the nearby resort. Carolyn is an outstanding host, very helpful and gracious. Highly recommend!

Our little family (2adults, 2 young kids, 2 labradors) absolutely loved Carolyn’s spot, such a great find! We towed our camper up to Wolf Moon and stayed for the Whitefish Trailblazer races in the fall. The property was beautiful and secluded. Tucked into the woods behind the Haymoon resort. The property was easy to find via google maps, and Carolyn was super responsive (even well before we booked!). The site has a 30/20 amp hookup and water available, just brought our hose to hook up & close to a free RV dump in town at the Cenex. Honestly the perfect little weekend, even with the colder weather & rain. Would 100% recommend this spot & Carolyn as a host, she was wonderful!

This was a great stay at wolf moon. Site was easy to find and pull into. Carolyn was easy going and helpful with all that we needed but was not overbearing and respected our privacy. The proximity to the road made it easy to get in and out of for a quick one night stay. The area was clean and quiet.

We found Richard’s RV site just as expected from his pictures and description. It’s was very pleasant to have a place all to ourselves and an added bonus to be greeted by his beautiful friendly dogs. We sat at the picnic table just under the trees and enjoyed the view of the mountains. His place was just 20 minutes to the entrance of Glacier Natl park where we spent 3 days. And we were also able to enjoy restaurants and live music in Columbia Falls at a fine place suggested by Richard. We will definitely plan to stay here again next time we visit the area.

What a peaceful, quiet spot that is in SUCH a great location between Whitefish, Kalispell, and Columbia Falls (oh! And Glacier). Carolyn was a gem. Super responsive, was so thoughtful giving me recs of what I could do in the area with my dog 🐾. We got our morning & evening walks in on the packed gravel road leading to the camping spot, going past horses and the cabins of the resort nearby. Felt super safe. And, though they were eating Carolyn’s beautiful flowers, the deer in the morning sun munching nearby was such a treat. Would 1000% recommend.

Deer Park was surprisingly peaceful being conveniently located close to town and Glacier! The campsite was extremely clean and had all the amenities we could wish for! Our stay at Richard’s Deer Park Campsite was fantastic! The grounds were clean, spacious, and very well maintained. From the moment we arrived, Richard’s two friendly dogs greeted us and even came by to visit during our stay — they got along great with our three dogs, which made it extra enjoyable. We also loved catching glimpses of his chickens and roosters, which added a unique and charming touch.
The location is perfect, with plenty of nearby trails for hiking and biking, as well as great fishing spots that we enjoyed throughout our stay. The full hookups Richard provided were an awesome accommodation for our 7-night visit and made an extended stay super comfortable.
Richard is an exceptional host — very accommodating, welcoming, and even kind enough to share his WiFi with us. We couldn’t have asked for a better camping experience. Highly recommend Richard’s Deer Park Campsite to anyone looking for a peaceful, dog-friendly, and well-kept place to stay!

Convenient to Kalispell, Lone Pine State Park is a day-use area that remains open year-round for visitors. The elevated location affords panoramic views of Kalispell and the surrounding Flathead Valley. With 7.5 miles of trails and year-round access, the park is a convenient haven for hikers, mountain bikers and snowshoers (with snowshoe rentals available). Equestrian riders also have trail access and all visitors will enjoy the visitor center with a gift shop and tours explaining the local ecosystems and wildlife. Lone Pine State Park is open for day-use only, but you can camp nearby at these spots.
- Best for Glacier National Park: North American RV & Yurt Village is a day trip to Lone Pine State Park and only a few minutes from Glacier National Park.
- Best for water access: Fountain Farm River Camp offers Flathead River access with kayaks to paddle into the lake.
- Best for privacy: River Ranch has limited sites and a private beach.
When to go
Year-round access makes this a great option for all seasons. The park receives more visitors during the summer and fall months when group picnic rentals are available and the trails are clear for all uses. In winter however, snowshoeing is popular on the trail systems and the visitor center remains open for shopping, interpretive displays and just as a place to warm up before and after hitting the trails. Spring might be more difficult as melting snow removes the option for snowshoes but also creates mud and slick trail conditions.
Know before you go
- The park borders large areas of open space, public lands and wilderness. While not common in the park itself, encounters with grizzly bears are possible. Carry bear spray and always leave it better.
- ADA-accessible facilities, flush and vault toilets, water and group rental areas are available in the park.
- Pets are welcome but leashes remain mandatory.
- A unique archery trail offers visitors an opportunity to practice shooting on various targets.
- The park is open year-round from 8am to sunset.
