Brookhaven Mill Farm

4 sites · RVs, Tents23 acres · Greensboro, NC
Our farm is an agritourism farm that offers seasonal events, educational workshops, a petting zoo and animal therapy for a fee. It is free to walk around the farm and visit our animals, but there is a cost to go inside the barnyard for a petting zoo experience. To visit the farm which includes the petting zoo, Farm store and chicken pen, you would need to arrive on either a Friday or Saturday afternoon since we are only open on weekends from 10-4. Our campsites are reasonably priced at $25/night for a maximum of 2 nights. We don't have hookups, so bring a generator if you need it. We do have a 250-gallon water tote with hose for you to fill up containers of water. If you need to fill up your RV water tank, we charge a flat $10. Please coordinate with us prior to your arrival so we can everything ready for you to fill. ************************************************************************************** We offer both tent and RV camping in an empty pasture adjacent to our grazing pasture where you can enjoy our animals in their natural habitat. Or, come up to the barn and get up close and personal with them during an "Animal Therapy" session!   Pitch your tent on the edge of the woods or close by the stream in the woods. If you enjoy watching wildlife, you're in for a treat...this magical portion of the farm provides a forest cover for songbirds, owls, deer, red-tailed hawks, both red and gray fox and wild turkey.   We allow check-ins during the week, which may be perfect for folks passing through and just need a safe and quiet place to park for the night and not interested in visiting the farm store, the barnyard or the rest of the farm, which are closed until the weekends. Weekends from 10-4 we open the Farm to visitors (campers and non-campers alike) to visit our animals and our Farm Store with a variety of groceries, supplies, gifts, and critter snacks so you can feed your choice of animals!   While we are dog-friendly, we also observe a dog-free zone, which is any area where we have our animals, so enjoy your leashed pet around the camping area, woods or along our driveway but please do not bring your dog past the gates that lead to our house, chicken yard, farm store, barn or petting zoo. Our large grassy field can accommodate multiple tent campers, travel trailers and RVs less than 30'. We have picnic tables, porta potties and fire rings for each camping party to have their own space.

Mystic Meadow Love Shack

1 site · Lodging28 acres · Madison, NC
My farm had been untouched for years and only used as hay farming. It is rolling hills known by the locals as "Butterfly Hill" Which the farm is home to many species of butterflies in the summer. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet.

The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms

13 sites · RVs, Tents150 acres · Yadkinville, NC
Update: Our new BATHHOUSE now has a functioning flush toilet!!🛖 Pictures are coming soon, but it will also house a shower, sink, and dressing area, and is centrally located in front of the office at the pond. We're doing this to prove WE LOVE OUR CAMPERS! ❤ In addition, two new nicely wooded sites with pond view are now available to provide easy access even during periods of heavy rain. If the creek area floods, we will move your reservation there. :)🏕 Pitch your tent, van or popup on or near the bank of our creek or pond with lots of shade and complete privacy. You can drive right up to most sites, weather permitting. You will have access to a fire ring and picnic table (located at each site), firewood for sale on site (please do not bring firewood from off-site), clean drinking water (located near the pond), the creek to explore, our pond to fish, and wooded trails to hike. Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 150+ acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣 Our cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks, quail, and geese are all eager to meet you, as are we! We currently have fresh eggs, pork and beef for sale on site as well as cured and smoked bacon. We will soon add fresh organically raised vegetables and herbs in season. Like us on Facebook (Harmon Creek Farms of NC) for the latest on what's going on here at the farm. :)

Starry Night Meadow-campsite

4 sites · Lodging2 acres · Whitsett, NC
Located on our 2 acre property, you can see open fields next door with horses & cows & a distant lake. While renting our fully equipped pop-up camper, you will enjoy using the large fire pit under the large night sky. And if it’s rainy, there’s a covered dining & lounge/bar area with a camping kitchen ready to host you along with games. Also comes with a new propane grill, super clean half-bath outside camping style & stocked with toilet essentials for your convenience. We have two corgis that play & run around on our property as well. It is near a main road so you may hear some traffic from time to time, but it is very peaceful most of the time. We have no neighbors close by, except the horses and cows. We live on the front side of property facing the main road, and campsite is located at the back facing a fenced area with neighboring fields with horses and donkeys & sometimes the cows wander up on the opposite field. There are large trees that block a view of the main road, hedges that block some of the side road, and newly planted bushes on the opposite side of the fire pit. While at the fire pit, you may see the back side of our home, but you will enjoy complete privacy from our family if that is what you prefer. You may be greeted by our two curious corgis from time to time but if that is worrisome to you, please let us know and we will accommodate you as best we can! If you need a more glamping experience, we have a tiny home/glamper on site as well with TV & a plush queen size bed with a/c and heat. Just message me for details if you can’t find it here. We are just a mile away from Red Oak Brewery & the highway. There’s some awesome breweries and wineries nearby and in Greensboro as well, and we’re happy to tell you where some are if you have questions! There is a TA truck stop with showers for rent if you need a shower. We’re also not far from a brand new Planet Fitness in Burlington if you have a membership with them and need a shower. Instacart delivers here as well as Ubereats and doordash. There are a lot of close restaurants and fast food and a CVS, so if you have any questions about food, I’m happy to help!

Camping near Greensboro guide

Overview

Known as the “Furniture Capital of the World” due to its prominent place in the industry, Greensboro is also a convenient launchpad for exploring the natural beauty of the Piedmont. This region of North Carolina is known for its gently rolling hills, fertile farmland, and a mix of deciduous and evergreen forests. Yes, there are hiking, cycling, kayaking, and fishing opportunities galore.. But that's not all—there are also fascinating cultural attractions like museums, historic landmarks, and even the nation's largest natural-habitat zoo to explore.

Where to go

Greensboro Surrounds

With its abundance of parks, lakes, and trails for visitors to explore, Greensboro is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts. The Greensboro Science Center's zoo, aquarium, and museum feature interactive exhibits for families. The Guilford Courthouse National Military Park and the Haw River Trail offer ample chances for hiking, biking, and bird-watching. Also, the nearby Piedmont Environmental provides a range of educational programs and hiking trails. Nearby lakes, such as Lake Higgins, Lake Brandt, and Lake Mackintosh, are perfect for boating and fishing.

Hanging Rock State Park

Drive an hour northwest to discover this scenic natural oasis with 7,869 acres of breathtaking beauty. The park is famous for its namesake quartzite peak that provides panoramic views of the surrounding area. Also, visitors can explore over 20 miles of hiking trails, including the challenging 4.3-mile Hanging Rock Trail. The park also boasts five waterfalls that are ideal for swimming and wading.

Uwharrie National Forest

This outdoor area is renowned for its extensive network of hiking trails that wind through scenic woodlands and pass lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Uwharrie National Forest is also popular among off-road enthusiasts, with miles of trails dedicated to four-wheeling. These trails range from easy to challenging, and visitors can explore the forest's rugged terrain by jeep, ATV, or dirt bike.

When to go

The best time to visit Greensboro is generally from April to November (the fall foliage is gorgeous in October), when you can expect mild temperatures and less rainfall. Summer months can be hot and humid, but it's easy to access water activities to help beat the heat. Winter temperatures can vary. While there's occasional snowfall, it's often comfortable enough to go hiking and cycling.
