Peaceful, off-grid vibes and walks along the Trent Valley Way, yes please… Millview Camping is a completely off-grid site just 20 minutes’ drive from Nottingham city centre and 15 minutes’ walk from the 116-mile Trent Valley Way. With westerly views over the Trent Valley and in the shadows of a ruined 18th-century windmill, this is a peaceful and scenic place to take a break indeed… Well-positioned too, with a generous handful of pubs, restaurants and cafés a scenic 35 minutes’ walk away in Gunthorpe alongside the river Trent. Radcliffe on Trent and Bingham are five minutes’ drive away for any other amenities you might (supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and the likes). And if you’re after even more of a buzz, Nottingham city centre is 25 minutes’ drive away. Even with such good access to so many towns and the big city, the site itself is remote. It has 10 acres of hay meadows and woodlands for guests to explore and, of course, sublime sunsets over the valley. If you prefer to keep your whole stay pretty rural, the Vale of Belvoir and the historic Belvoir Castle are 20 minutes’ drive away from the site. It’s no frills here. The grass and woodland pitches have facilities including water and portaloo access. Dogs are also permitted, as are barbecues.

What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell. The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving. All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away. And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all. Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

I recently stayed at Enholmes Meadows, and I can honestly say it exceeded all of my expectations. The setting is absolutely breathtaking—beautifully picturesque, incredibly peaceful, and the perfect place to wild camp, relax and unwind What really made my stay stand out were the hosts. They were genuinely warm, welcoming, and couldn't have been more helpful. Their kindness and attention to detail made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. The campsite itself is exceptional with a real sense of tranquillity that's becoming increasingly hard to find. If you're looking for a quiet escape surrounded by beautiful countryside, I couldn't recommend Enholmes Meadows more highly. Without a doubt, one of the best wild campsites I've stayed at, and I'll definitely be returning. Highly recommended

I enjoyed my short stay at White Peak Camping. The campsite has beautiful views, and there are some lovely walks you can head straight out on from the site. I had good mobile reception throughout my stay, and it was wonderfully quiet at night, making it a great place to relax. The site has picnic benches, fire pits, and a swing for kids (or adults!), which are nice added touches. It's a great back-to-basics campsite if you're looking for peace, simplicity, and easy access to the countryside.

Easy to find, camp anywhere in the field. Toilets and sinks with cold running water, pot washing sinks with cold running water, camp fires allowed, fire pits and logs available (obviously logs have to be purchased). Enjoyed our stay. I only have one complaint and that’s not directed at the hosts it’s directed at other people staying at the site. When you have used the facilities please leave as you would expect to find, some dirty scrubber had left the sinks a mess with bits of fruit and food waste. Selfish individuals with zero respect for others

We had a fabulous time at White Peak Campsite. It was clean, not overcrowded and very relaxed, with amazing views. The toilet facilities were nice, clean and well stocked. Having the fire pits and logs available was a brilliant touch. We did not leave the site during our stay as the children were having too much fun playing on the ample grassy space. Been here twice with my dog. Lots of space to pitch, some on flat ground some on the incline with a higher up view of the surrounding landscape. Quiet, perfect for a good Night of sleep. The toilet facilities were clean and functional. There are some trees for shade which is good in hot weather. Lots of trails all around. The owners came both times to welcome us and check if we needed anything.

Lovely chilled campsite. We didn’t see Janice and Paul other than spotting Paul in the evening driving his tractor round the field checking if anyone wanted firewood. Toilets were basic but great, no showers but great for a night. Beautiful views, and beautiful walks from the site. Will definitely return
