Family-friendly, dog-friendly camping with campfires on a beachside farm in Lincolnshire

A handpainted sign on an old wooden pallet asks campers to “Stay up late” and to “Wake up smiling” at Creekside Family Camping. This is our kind of campsite and, in coastal Lincolnshire, it stands out. While other sites in this holiday hotspot are populated with static caravans and tourers, this is a tents-and-campervans-only affair. It’s situated in three pretty meadows on a working farm and provides relaxed and friendly camping within walking distance of the long sandy beach of Anderby Creek.

We weren’t exaggerating when we said this site was friendly. Campfires, dogs and kids are all welcome here; it’s only large all-adult groups and caravans that are not. There’s a definite family vibe to the place and while the charming homemade signs encourage campers to stay up past bedtime, a hush usually descends by 10.30 pm. There are areas set aside for ball games and buckets and spades are available to borrow from an on-site beach hut. This little hub also offers campers the chance to charge phones, freeze ice packs and borrow board games.

These little touches and the site facilities (flushing loos, hot showers and even a dog wash) all point to the experience of the farming folk behind this campsite. The Mowbray family who run the place love camping themselves and it shows. They’ve taken great care to put this site together but have also employed a light touch. Facilities, for example, are immaculately clean but simple; toiletries are provided but eco-friendly and much of what you’ll see on site has been lovingly re-purposed.

It’s a 10-minute walk from your pitch, past the nearby caravans, to the sands of Anderby Creek. The beach is a long stretch that’s as good for a stroll as it is for a sunbathe. There’s a cafe on the sands that does great breakfasts but other than that it’s unspoiled and part of the Lincolnshire Coast Country Park. For the more typical thrills and spills of the seaside, head south to Ingoldmells and Skegness, both within ten miles. Then, when another day on the beach is over, refer back to the handpainted site rules for what to do next: “Smell the fresh air, sit by the campfire, look at the stars” and, most important of all: “Make memories.”

Beautiful, peaceful, relaxed, cute
Beautiful oasis of a place. From the site it seems you are completely surrounded by fields and farmland for miles around. We were in the Grove section which felt more adult and secluded with a few shrubs and trees for shelter. Peaceful location but short walk to a cool cafe by the beach. Beautifully kept site. So pretty with lots of little finishing touches. The loos are basic huts but clean and well stocked with gorgeous smelling liquid soap, plenty of hot water and paper towels fully stocked. Great washing up facilities. Each pitch has its own fire pit and pretty painted wooden bench table. Logs and kindling honesty box so help yourself (properly seasoned). The most spaced out pitches we’ve experienced for a while. Friendly warden often around and busy if you need anything. The beach is stunning and unspoilt. It’s the next new Norfolk coast but don’t tell anyone! 😊😉

Lovely camping grounds
Lovely site close to the beach, a bit crowded during busy periods as people tend to squash in beside you. Toilets and showers very clean and plentiful. Shame the field in the grove isn’t utilised as this would have given people much more space. Love the ability to have fires and wood available. Would stay again but perhaps out of season.

Creekside Grass Electric Pitch
Great location in terms of close walking distance to the beach ( little ones might find it a bit far and you wouldn’t want to be carrying loads of stuff ) Fire pits and the honesty shop with logs and marshmallows is great and also has freezers and lockers for use . Toilets and showers were great, clean with complimentary Faith in Nature toiletries. Could be a few more of them as people queuing when it was busy. Pre book pitches were quite close together and you’d struggle with some of the larger family tents . Pricing is a bit odd, says it’s a family campsite but the basic advertised price per night is for a tent with 1 adult. Be wary as a family of 2 adults/teens or several children will add up. Has a dog exercise field which is a great idea and a doggy wash station. Lit up at night with twinkly fairy lights which kids love. A great site, close to the beach but would recommend avoiding weekends, bank holidays and peak summer weeks. Also remember it’s a working farm so there is farm machinery noise at times so not a really quiet site. Bins and recycling wasn’t emptied all week including the dog poo bin which was full.

Hi we were in a rent by the side if the road, every morning we were woken by 6am to traffic noise, which was very unfortunate. The rest of the campsite and all the little touches were perfect, but I would suggest just using the side next to the road for campervans and caravans.

Happy Place
Lovely site with lots of space and very good facilities, short walk to the beach. I walked back from the loo yesterday evening and every other tent had a camp fire glowing with people gathered such a picture. While falling asleep I could hear the comforting sound of people talking and laughing, not so close you could hear conversations, just a lovely way to fall asleep, snug in our tent with other happy campers nearby.

Couple of nights near the beach
All in all a good base for a few days on the coast and with places to eat and drink within a short walk. Very clean showers and toilets - the only issue we found was the toilet cubicles were very small, could have done with a little more leg room. Brilliant idea in the small wooden cabin for campers to securely charge their mobile phones :) Would definitely stay again.

Camping by the beach
Beautiful flat grassy campsite with pitches around the edge to leave space for kids to play in the middle. Buckets and spades and toys available to play with. Facilities were lovely and clean all the time, even on the day when it rained. A 10-minute walk to a huge sandy beach. We had a lovely stay, and would definitely return.

Relaxed camping, great facilities
We found the the site to be very accommodating, after arriving late we were greeted and even managed to move our pitches to be next to our friends. The showers and toilets were well maintained. The honesty shop was a great little extra. Freezers for ice blocks, free secure mobile charger lockers, The pizza van on the Saturday night was brilliant, strongly advise to pre order if you see hun! Great walking distance to the beach. The kids have asked numerous times already “when can we go back”.

Chilled camping
We stayed at Grove Creek - a more peaceful area but still well linked to the rest of the site. Good enclosed dog walk area, toilet shower and washing up facilities . A short walk to the beach with a nice public footpath by the side of the creek. Nice beach cafe and a couple of pubs. We enjoyed our short stay and have rebooked to bring grandchildren in August for a chilled beach getaway

Will Definatley be returning!
What an excellent setup they have at Creekside. Pitches were really well kept and the toilets and shower blocks were really clean and looked brand new. There was a really relaxed vibe over the whole weekend, which I can only put down to how well the campsite was ran. About 10 minutes walk to the sea, fish and chip van arrived friday and and ice cream van saturday. Our children have absolutley loved it!

Fantastic 3 night stay in campervan
Fantastic 3 night stay in campervan at The Grove Creekside. Small site with huge pitches. Each pitch has picnic table and firepit (ours even had a lovely planter of flowers). Short stroll to the beach and restaurants/pubs. The added bonus for us was the large secure dog field. Will definitely visit again. Easy to book and choose pitch through Hipcamp. Highly recommend.
From the host
Nestled in the middle of the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park, Creekside Family Camping and The Grove@Creekside are relaxed & friendly farm campsites. Within walking distance of stunning sandy beaches, Creekside is a great base to explore all that Lincolnshire has to offer; from the beauty of The Wolds to the seaside fun of Skegness, there’s something for everyone to discover and explore.  The atmosphere as the sun goes down is always special on site; As the sun sets and the campfires are lit, the sites are truly at their most magical. Creekside Family Camping  for tents and campervans is set over three camping fields & we offer a mixture of pitch types. Two of our fields contains allocated electric and non-electric pitches. For those that prefer to choose their pitch on arrival our other field contains unallocated pitches (just arrive and choose your favourite spot!).  The pitch sizes are large and there is ample space for children to run around and play, with a separate area for ball games.  All are decorated with pretty bunting, straw bales and fairy lights and there are also picnic tables dotted around for campers to use. The Grove@Creekside is our smaller site with just 10 large (approx 15m x 15m) pitches for caravans, tents, campervans and motorhomes. With a mixture of hardstanding and grass pitches, nestled amongst mature hedges and trees & with brand new facilities for 2022 it’s a lovely peaceful spot to enjoy your camping holiday. We provide an extensive information pack to all our guests before arrival with details of the site and the local area but are always happy to have a chat and recommend things to do and places to eat.  If guests are interested there’s often the opportunity of a tour around the farmyard or a sit on a tractor too!
Nearby attractions
The big attraction here is the vast expanses of sandy beaches. The closest, Anderby Creek, is a short walk of less than half a mile up the road. Wolla Bank is also within walking distance and both fall within the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park.  Those looking for livelier seaside fun will find Ingoldmells, five miles south, and Skegness, five miles further, with fairgrounds, arcades, donkey rides and other traditional seaside attractions.
Food and drink
You can walk to Popa’s Bar (01754 872374) for burgers, pizzas and fish and chips, in Anderby Creek in three or four minutes (it's less than half a mile away). Nearby, Anderby Beach Café (01754 874000) serves fantastic breakfasts and classic café meals right next to the beach with a lovely outside eating area. Farmer Brown’s Ice Cream (07946 485549) in Huttoft, a five-minute drive from site, is recommended for ice cream which is made on-site from their own dairy herd as well as great coffees and homemade cakes. It also has a great outdoor play area including a large wooden combine and tractors. Seascape NSO (01754 873840) in Chapel St Leonards (a five-minute drive away) is a café right on the sand doing delicious food and drinks and with the odd pop-up restaurant evening and The Marina Fish & Chips (07939 844533 also in Chapel St Leonards is your hosts' favourite for fish and chips. Order online and they’ll even deliver to the campsite gate.
