Set on a traditional family-run farm in rural Norfolk, Snettisham Meadows is on the outskirts of the pretty village of Snettisham and short drive away from North Norfolk's beautiful white sandy beaches.
Animal-mad campers, form an orderly queue please, as this 329-acre farm has several attractions up its sleeve for you, including meet-and-greets with pigs and ponies, lamb feeding in spring and deer safaris. There’s also a dog paddock for rent so four-legged companions can have a frisk around, and an area on the camping field is reserved for guests with dogs.
Campfires and barbecues are permitted and you can borrow firepits from the site owners. Logs are also available to buy. The site is only 10 minutes’ walk from a village pub if you fancy a change of scenery.

Rosehip Wood Campsite is a nature rich, off-grid wild campsite set in a peaceful woodland. It is tucked away on the outskirts of the pretty Norfolk village of West Dereham. This beautiful rewilding project offers the unspoilt simplicity and tranquillity of wild camping within the grassy clearings of a quiet mixed woodland and balanced with just enough facilities to make camping fun and comfortable including fresh water and compost toilets.
All Rosehip Wood’s pitches are family friendly and allow BBQs and campfires.
Your hosts invite you to wander along mown paths, through grassy clearings and wildflowers. The woodland has been planted with lots of nuts and fruits for both wildlife and humans to enjoy. As the sun sets, unwind, and enjoy starlit skies unspoilt by light pollution against the distant calls and barks of local wildlife.
The site has no lighting so don’t forget your torch if you plan on an evening amble. Downham Market is around 4 ½ miles away offering supermarkets, a market, food and drink in the town’s historic pubs and a range of restaurants. It also has a train station from which your hosts will be happy to pick you up if you are coming camping without a car. If you need an extra tent this can be rented at an extra cost.

Peaceful, off-grid vibes and walks along the Trent Valley Way, yes please… Millview Camping is a completely off-grid site just 20 minutes’ drive from Nottingham city centre and 15 minutes’ walk from the 116-mile Trent Valley Way. With westerly views over the Trent Valley and in the shadows of a ruined 18th-century windmill, this is a peaceful and scenic place to take a break indeed…
Well-positioned too, with a generous handful of pubs, restaurants and cafés a scenic 35 minutes’ walk away in Gunthorpe alongside the river Trent. Radcliffe on Trent and Bingham are five minutes’ drive away for any other amenities you might (supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and the likes). And if you’re after even more of a buzz, Nottingham city centre is 25 minutes’ drive away.
Even with such good access to so many towns and the big city, the site itself is remote. It has 10 acres of hay meadows and woodlands for guests to explore and, of course, sublime sunsets over the valley. If you prefer to keep your whole stay pretty rural, the Vale of Belvoir and the historic Belvoir Castle are 20 minutes’ drive away from the site.
It’s no frills here. The grass and woodland pitches have facilities including water and portaloo access. Dogs are also permitted, as are barbecues.

A very relaxing stay.Richard was welcoming ,good natured and reliable, a joy to talk with.
I awoke every morning feeling refreshed , and was wooed asleep most nights by the calls of owls and other sounds of the woods and meadows of Enholme .Great facilities,also plenty of nice little or longer local walks.Picnic benches a plenty on site.Spurn point was excellent,the Patrington channel well worth a visit and Patrington itself pleasant and offering good quality groceries and takeaway food. For me this was a perfect camp . Thanks .

Archer’s Field sits in a beautiful place close to both coast and countryside offering access to lots of activities. The pitches are large, and campers are free to choose where they camp. I loved being able to walk directly from the campsite (along the Weavers Way) and on to the Blickling Estate.

We camped for 5 nights at Archer’s and it was just what we needed. The field is surrounded by trees and the skies were dark enough for fabulous stargazing. The toilets and showers were clean and perfectly adequate for our needs. Peter was very friendly and the whole atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. Quiet, chilled and small site. Clean facilities with nice hot showers. Owner came out to meet new arrivals in the early evening and was v friendly and knowledgeable. There is a fridge and freezer (across road in farmhouse) for campers’ use. Blackberry bushes were a nice bonus. Bus stop for buses to Norwich, Cromer and Sheringham 5 mins walk (honestly so much easier than driving - roads narrow and busy, and car parks full). Farm also sells eggs, and depending on season - whatever they’re growing.

Really lovely, quiet little campsite, with lots of personal touches - and it was wonderful to be supporting the rebirth of the windmill by staying there! We would definitely stay there again. What an amazing place!! Such a hidden gem. We had a brilliant few days here with our family. The place and people were the best. The site warden couldn't do enough for us and we loved March more than we ever thought we would. The paddle or walk down the river was lovely and the pubs and shops by the river made a great little trip out. We will definitely be back next year!!

We really enjoyed our stay, it was great to have a proper bed and the tent ready to go! Toilet and showers always clean and plentiful hot water and so much space between pitches. Fridge and freezer space provided which really helped, and we loved visiting the little “shop” with its eggs, dahlias and honey.. After the hot summer, the rain arrived with our visit but didn’t dampen spirits, plenty of room for us to sit inside! Take a torch for nighttime loo trips, as it is unlit. Peter made us very welcome and had good recommendations for meals out. We are already planning a trip or two next year!

We had a great time here, camping as a group of two families. The site is great, lots for kids to explore safely, and lovely pitches surrounded by native trees. We walked to a great pub (George and Dragon in Wereham), and there were other walks from the site to explore too. Loved this campsite - calm, spacious, and simple but nicely equipped. If you're after a peaceful slice of nature without all the trimmings, Peter has you sorted (and is a great host!) Also nice to have access to eggs, fresh fruit and from freezer on the farmhouse opposite which we hadn't seen mentioned anywhere before we came. We've already recommended it to friends and will no doubt be back ourselves :)
