With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes.
The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home.
All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's.
Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest.
The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

All the pitches face the coast so you can have spectacular views over the sea, in this case the North Sea to Scarborough (15 minutes’ drive), giving you a front-row seat on one of England’s most spectacular coastlines.
Here you can wake to vibrant sunrises and on clear evenings to watch sunsets in the west.
There’s plenty more going for this peaceful site as well: walkers will perk up on hearing that it’s right on the Cleveland Way National Trail, surfers can catch waves at popular Cayton Bay (five minutes’ drive), and families can head for Go Ape or scenic biking trails in Dalby Forest (40 minutes). There’s also a farm shop 15 minutes’ walk away where you can get a decent coffee and homemade food.
There’s plenty of room so you’re free to pitch up where you wish. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and barbecues or firepits are allowed as long as they’re raised off the ground to protect the grass.
The camping area is exposed and can get windy at times, so take care when erecting tents and ensure everything is well secured.
Facilities are simple: chemical toilets and a water supply. The water supply is from the mains but we recommend bottled water for drinking to be safe.
There are no showers on site. Solar showers can be bought on-line for about £10. The access road is alongside a grass field, so please ensure that your vehicle is suitable for the terrain.
Local attractions and activities include:

Our three, brand new wood and canvas yurts are nestled in our private, woodland hotel garden beside the beautiful conservation (SSSI) river of Scandal Beck. Just a short drive from The Lake District, The Yorkshire and Durham Dales as well as The Scottish Border, we are perfectly located for you to explore.
The yurts themselves are individually decorated with full size furniture, electricity and double beds. The yurts are all located in the garden of The Black Swan Hotel, Ravenstonedale, a multi award-winning hotel, restaurant and bar; recipient of 2 AA Rosettes as well as AA pub of the year for England 2018/19. As part of your stay in our yurts you will receive a full cooked breakfast and buffet option included in the price for 2 people in our hotel restaurant. We like to think of ourselves as a cosy home from home with a relaxed dining atmosphere throughout. We are very dog friendly in the hotel, restaurant, bar and yurts so please bring your furry family members.
Our beautiful woodland is also home to red squirrels (which are seen daily), protected, freshwater crayfish in the river, an otter (seen very infrequently but the nemesis of our ducks), 6 Indian runner ducks, free range chickens and our two cockerels! (Dogs are very welcome but are to be kept on a lead whilst in the woodland itself).
We are very dog friendly and charge an additional fee of £15 for 1 dog/ £20 for 2 dogs for an additional cleaning fee and for some dog friendly goodies such as poop bags and treats. The price of this yurt is based on an occupancy of 2 people. Any other people who will be staying on the sofa bed will add a charge of £40 per person per night for breakfast and their stay.
All yurts come with electrical battery pack, chargeable lanterns, tea/coffee, homemade biscuits, log burning stoves, towels, full breakfast included from the hotel, an outdoor seating area and access to our outdoor toasty warm woodland shower as well as our very cute, wooden toilet cabin. Hairdryers are available in the hotel for your use.

We absolutely loved our stay here, purely for the spectacular sea views. Sunsets over the North Sea and looking out over Cayton Bay in the evening was incredible. The site itself is quite simple and back-to-basics, but the front-row seat to the coastline makes it entirely worth it. Will definitely be back for the scenery!

Beautiful site, very quiet and private with plenty of room in the non electric field. Very pretty lake which the site has a footpath gate up a slight bank to the waters edge. Be aware to walk to Castle Howard you will have to walk along the road NOT the lake as the pathway is blocked.

Staying in Bruce’s Wagon was a wonderful glamping experience, with beautiful views that instantly help you relax and switch off. The hospitality was excellent, with everything thoughtfully prepared and any help offered in a friendly and welcoming way. Margaret's land was very quiet and calming, it is quite close to the M62 but don't let that scare you, the tall thick conifers surrounding the land block all the noise. Margaret was lovely, she couldn't be more helpful. We will return, we only booked one night as we wanted to try the electrical hook up on our new van, but would have happily stayed longer had we not had other plans.

My wife and I loved our short stay in the Frodo pod. Totally immaculate and everything you need there to hand, we particularly enjoyed watching and listening to the birds as we sat by the firepit. The bed was very comfortable too! We're already planning on returning later in the year!

We loved camping in the woods. The pitch was big enough for two 2 man tents and the firepit and was sheltered from the wind. It was a short pleasant walk to the car park and toilet and the wheelbarrow was a big help in getting gear to the pitch. The toilets were nice and clean and the host gave a very informative and useful induction on arrival.

Very friendly welcome and everyone was very thoughtful and accommodating to our needs. The tent was really comfortable and we had lots of wood and coal to keep warm. We had our meal in the pub and the food was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was even better. Would Deffinately stay again and looking forward to booking our next trip.
