About

Wilderness seems to be a term that's sometimes used lightly. However, when we say going to Beltrami Island State Forest is going into the wilderness, we mean it. This forest encompasses 703,366 acres (yes, you read correctly). Cue over-the-head light bulb (or lantern, in this case) of natureful possibilities. Beltrami Island is, not surprisingly, the second largest state forest in Minnesota and is crawling with trails: 25 miles for hikers, 27 for horseback riders, and hundreds for gearheads. Five rivers flow throughout the area, making canoeing and kayak popular activities. Need we say more? Camp here! Multiple primitive campgrounds are scattered throughout the forest. Hop from one to the next for a diverse experience of the forests landscape.
