We own 58 acres of forest centered on a very old shale pit near Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia. Our long-term mission is to regenerate the landscape, returning all of the property to a forest in time. We hope to establish small camping compounds for family, friends and guests who would like to stay with us and enjoy the amazing scenery of Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore. Located just below Huey Lake, our property is watered by a stream that flows from the lake, through a series of tiny waterfalls in a gorge, through beautiful pine, maple, and oak forest down to a meandering wetland that drains into the Petite Riviere watershed. Beavers are active in the area and have already begun the process of returning the old quarry to the wilderness. Their activities have created deep ponds where once there was a pit dug from the land for the shale that is abundant in this area. The beavers dammed and diverted the stream which has created a pond and wetland system at the lower end of the property. If you are very quiet in the early morning you may get to see Castor as he busily swims about his watery home. Located near some of the most beautiful features of Lunenburg County, our property is a 5-minute drive from Crescent Beach, Risser's Beach Provincial Park, and Petite Riviere. Opportunities to cycle, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, surf and sail are all around us.

What a beautiful spot to camp for a few nights! Ryan was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was, and having hoses available for both water and a gray tank flush was such a convenient bonus. The bike trail was very close, and we enjoyed getting out on it between the rainstorms. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful and convenient place to stay!

Ryan and Scott were very responsive to any inquiries we had from booking to checking out! We booked site 2 and arrived to a clean, well maintained area. This was large enough for our overlanding camper and Tacoma. We have been on the road for 40 days and needed a little break from the campground scene. We had our own private screened in porch, dish washing station, and portable toilet. The parking spot was on a well packed gravel driveway surrounded by a beautifully manicured yard with mowed walking paths. We woke every morning to the bunnies having breakfast under our picnic table! The deer came to eat apples every morning. The area was quiet with no additional traffic passing by our site which made it very private for the outdoor shower, which is equipped with hot water! If I am ever in the are again I would definitely stay here again! Thank You Ryan for your attention to detail and hospitality!

Our family had a really nice stay at Karen’s camp. Having the dock right there made it easy to get out on the water with the paddle boards and kayaks, and it was great not having to bring our own. The fire pit is close to the water too, which made for a really nice spot to sit in the evenings. We actually didn’t even set up our tents and just slept on the platforms. A few things worth knowing: * We found the canoe pretty tippy. It worked, but it wasn’t very relaxing, so we ended up not using it. * The owners were very helpful when we asked for more drinking water. There were six of us, and we went through the first big jug in about a day. * Caledonia is only about a 15-minute drive away and has a small grocery store if you need to pick up a few things. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and had a great time being right by the water.

We got the tent site and its super cute! The farm itself has seen better days but we'd wake up to the goats and turkeys grazing in the field next to us. There's no running water or electricity at the site and it is very remote. The road to get there is a bit rough. We got to hear some wild animals at night which was exciting.

We had a great time at the Owls Nest-The Perch. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather for the majority of our stay but we made the best of it….went fishing and with the perch had a dry area to enjoy!!! Would highly recommend recommend 5/5
