A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful.
We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents.
There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna!
The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away!
Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed.

This is a rustic 100% off-grid experience! There is no electricity in the cabins and cold running water in the summer.
SLEEPING: The cabin has two bedrooms separated by curtains from the living space and features: One queenTwo single bunksOne double futon
HEATING/COOKING:There is a wood stove for heat and cooking and wood is supplied and cold running water in the summer months. A wood burning BBQ is available for use and a huge upright smoker for your fish haul (bring your own propane cylinder).
BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months.
ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights.
WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter.
WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils.
YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away.
CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food.
ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer.
In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery.
We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you.
You have access to the lodge property, lake, dock, trails, grass area and kayaks/floaties/paddle boards when available.

Spring note - snow has been melting and the ground is unthawing - please feel free to send me a message if you have any question about the gravel road. It can be muddy and bumpy while the road awaits its winter repairs.
We are one hour outside of Kamloops on a maintained public gravel road, however AWD or 4WD recommended during late fall to late spring. We have no minimum stay but highly recommend two nights. Do not use google maps to find our place - it can be very confusing. Google maps may show coming to our property from Savona but the easiest drive is from Kamloops. Please use the directions that get emailed to you just before your stay. To get here head to the Kamloops airport then follow Tranquille Criss Creek Road. We do not recommend traveling this road in the dark if you are not familiar with it!
Wonderfully private! Come give our land some love as it recovers from the 2021 Sparks Lake forest fire. Acres and acres to hike, mountain bike and snowshoe. Surrounded by crown land there is no lack of space to explore and easy access to forest service roads to quad and bike. Many lakes near by for fishing and kayaking. Wildlife galore! There are wild flowers and plants so come forage and explore. Disconnect from the busyness of city life! Coming soon - guided hikes, foraging and information about local medicinal plants and a soon to be Apothecary on site!

It feels like being out in the country yet is only 4 minutes to a small grocery/liquor store.
Bring some firewood and/or pallets and use the bonfire pit (as long as there is no local fire ban in effect).
Unfortunately, we do not yet have an outhouse so we can only accommodate campers who have their own toilet facilities onboard. The nearest public toilets are a four-minute drive away and are open till 9:00, and there are 24-hour bathrooms about ten minutes away.

Let's be real...when booking a lakefront vacation in BC it's all about the lake and Timothy Lake will not disappoint.
Timothy Lake is the perfect size, large enough to be unrestricted and offer great fishing, but small enough where you aren't always battling waves. As you venture from the shoreline you'll eventually loose site of the resort and soon find a public sandy beach, an uninhabited island, and a water channel connecting into Dempsey Lake. We've never heard that Dempsey is a great fishing lake, but it is a cool journey by paddle or small boat, and shows just how awesome the natural world is.....but watch for underwater branches throughout the channel cause a wrecked prop can make a good mad a bad mood - really quick.
Located off the beaten track, Timothy Lake is seldom used by weekend warriors and is never too busy - making it great for swimming, water skiing, fishing or just floating around in one of those giant inflatable flamingo's...... if that's your thing.

The lodge itself was clean, comfortable, and very welcoming, making it easy to relax and enjoy the experience. What really stood out was the journey getting there—the drive was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by stunning scenery that set the tone for the whole stay.(you just gotta stay a little patient and careful with some bends and turn especially in snow otherwise easy way up) The peaceful atmosphere and natural surroundings made it feel like a true getaway. I would definitely recommend Wendego Lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat with breathtaking views along the way.

Positives: Great wifi, pristine washrooms/showers, site 4 nice river view, friendly/helpful hosts who allowed us a late checkout so we could ride the bike trails before leaving, happily charged the trailer and filled up the water tank before heading back off grid.
Slight negative: a little close to the road (but did not disturb sleep), sites have no privacy from each other, expensive (but our views are warped as we had been camping for free/$7.50/max of $35 per night till this point and this was our treat/regroup/check emails/refill/repower night)

Beautiful location along a creek near Sun Peaks resort. The porta potty and outdoor shower are super clean and have a cabin style feel. There were also string lights in the trees, a picnic gazebo, and hammocks. Great hosts! Will stay again.

A great little place right on the riverside. Quiet, safe and private. Kids were able to explore the river and see salmon spawning which was super cool. We also took a lovely walk through the pasture land while we were there.

Chris was a very friendly host; we booked last minute but he was able to accommodate us and was very welcoming. The sign for the campsite was a little tricky to find in the dark, but I’m sure during the day this would be easier. We enjoyed the outdoor shower too!

We loved the camping there! The two hosts were super nice people and we ended up chatting quite a while while they showed us around. The campsite is very nice too: the pit toilet has a water bucket to wash hands and soap. Each campsite has a picknick table. There was only one other guest that night, so it was relatively privat. Would absolutely recommend.

We had a wonderful time. My son enjoyed learning about the farm and surrounding areas. The little beach at Pinantan lake was perfect. The general store has literally everything you need - store, gift shop , liquor store , cannabis store and laundramat all in one. The trails are great. Highly recommend and will definitely be back

We loved the camping at Shauna’s land. She and her husband were so welcoming and kind. It was very easy to get to the place, we stayed there on our way to the Rockies. They already had one tent setup and offered us to use it. Since we arrived when it was dark, we were very thankful for this option. I would stay there again and definitely recommend it!
