Unless previously discussed, you are required to camp on the site you book and will be asked to move if you set up on another site. All traffic is to drive clockwise around ring road. The site numbers correspond with this direction of travel. The campground is tranquil and has a large open, flat grassy clearing in the middle for family games. The secluded clearing is boarded by a Woodland forest with stunning flora like Waratahs, Xanthorrhoea's, Orchids and Banksias. The property is home to many beautiful species of fauna like Gang-gang Cockatoo's, Eastern Rosella's and the cheeky iconic Magpie which will warble a warm welcome. This camp is perfect for groups/families wanting to have a campfire, a bit of space from other campers and to have room for the kids to run around and kick a ball. Fires are restricted to existing fire pits to minimize scars on the ground. If you prefer to bring your own fire pit we ask that you leave no trace. Fires are only permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Please be extra vigilant around this as our community is only just recovering after the devastating recent fires. Fires are to be modest and discrete. Out of respect for our neighbors and other campers, please do not use a chainsaw at the campground. Please do not leave rubbish in your fire pit. Things like cigarette butts, cans, beer caps and food scraps need to be taken with you. We pride ourselves with keeping the sites as pristine as possible and ask that you follow our 'leave no trace' policy. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. Please bring your own firewood, or you can purchase firewood from most service stations in the Blue Mountains. Please do not collect from the campground, if campers did this, the surrounding bushland would quickly be depleted and loose its natural feel. However, it is ok to collect small kindling to start your fire. There is a composting toilet on-site with toilet paper and Hand Sanitizer supplied. Well behaved pets are welcome and we encourage you to keep your dog on a lead if they are likely to adventure too far from your site and disturb the local wildlife or other campers. If you are interested in a longer free stay and are open to a trade for a small amount of labor each day, please reach out. There is always lots of things we need to get done, but don't always have the time. Acknowledgement of Country: Our property is located within the Country of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. My family recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra (Country) takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape - landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. My family and I pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region. Our hope is that by being custodians of this beautiful property, we will help preserve it for future generations as a place to connect with nature and each other. We hope you love and respect this property as much as our family does. It is a privilege to share it with like minded people who enjoy stepping out of our busy lives to connect with nature, family and friends.

Yerrinbool is 1 hour from Sydney and a great spot to spend a weekend away, 15 mins from Bowral and 10 mins to Mittagong There are animals on the farm including ducks, chickens, goats, sheep and sometimes even baby cows. The property does need a little clean up but the rear of the property is nice and tranquil. Easy access for caravans, keeping in mind the weather as like in all areas it becomes soft when wet. 'The Refinery' at Hartley Vale

4 sites · RVs, Tents7 acres · Hartley Vale, NSW
Built on the site of the old Hartley Vale oil shale works that closed in 1916, 'The Refinery" was re-established in 2018 as an organic garlic farm now owned by James and Michelle and their two children. The farm features a hempcrete building named 'The Stinking Rose' used for drying and curing garlic that also acts as a big room for garlic feasts during planting (March, April and May each year). The building also houses toilet and shower facilities for guests when camping on site. On some evenings, the sky puts on a real show of golden sun rays with pink, purple and blue clouds while swallows flit across the garden beds catching moths. Our guests like to sit around their campfires watching the spectacular show while kids and dogs run around without the burden of leashes or noise of city traffic.

The best camping near Blue Mountains National Park guide

Overview

About

With its sandstone cliffs, dramatic canyons, and huge eucalyptus trees from where the blue haze for which its name rises, Blue Mountains National Park is a magnet for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. You can see the famed Three Sisters rock formation from a scenic cliff-top lookout, abseil over a waterfall, and discover the Jenolan Caves. Experienced bushwalkers and climbers can also explore the deep gorges and high rocks—all while keeping an eye out for kangaroos, wallabies, and tiger quoll. The park is under an hour’s drive from Sydney.

Caravan Camping Near Blue Mountains National Park

Road trips don’t get much more scenic than the Blue Mountains National Park. Winding mountain roads and scenic lookouts afford spectacular panoramic views of the sandstone canyons, rugged peaks, and lush forests as you drive between landmarks like the Three Sisters, Wentworth Falls, and the Jamison Valley. Just an hour’s drive from Sydney and with easy access for caravans and RVs, the national park is the ideal destination for a family getaway or a back-to-nature trip. Hit the road in your caravan and head for one of the area’s many campgrounds or Hipcamps. Most of the national park campgrounds are only suitable for tents and camper trailers, but caravanners can book a spot at the council-run bush campground at Mt Wilson or check into the tourist parks at Katoomba or Blackheath, which provide powered sites and access to amenities like a camp kitchen, laundry facilities, and a dump point.

Blue Mountains National Park Glamping

If you want outdoor adventures without having to brave the bush, Sydney’s local NP has you covered. Just an hour’s drive from the capital, the Blue Mountains National Park has scenic drives, wildlife-filled bushwalks, and thrilling views. Getting back to nature is easy, whether riding the Scenic Railway or Skyway over Katoomba Falls and the Three Sisters, following the canopy walk through the Jamison Valley, or taking a tour of Jenolan Caves. The most exciting accommodation option for weekend breakers and urban campers is glamping, and you’ll find several glampsites in and around the national park. Perhaps check into a rustic mountain-view cottage, spend a fun night sleeping in a geometric dome, or rent a quirky A-frame or vintage caravan. Most glampsites come with home comforts like ensuite bathrooms, comfy beds, and heating/air-conditioning, plus you’ll likely have electrical outlets to charge your phone and a wifi connection.

Cabin Rentals Near the Blue Mountains National Park

Just an hour’s drive from the city, the Blue Mountains National Park is Sydney’s outdoor playground, complete with magnificent mountain views and UNESCO World Heritage-listed natural wonders. Exploring the Blue Mountains is great fun through all four seasons, whether you’re hiking the Grand Canyon Track or Wentworth Falls trail, exploring Jenolan Caves, or admiring views over Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters from the Scenic World Railway, Skywalk, or Cableway. Opting for a cabin rental can be a great alternative to camping for families, small groups, or those looking to get back to nature without giving up their home comforts. Whether you rent a cosy cottage with a mountain view, check into a self-contained cabin at one of Katoomba‘s tourist parks, or opt for a rustic national park cabin in the remote Megalong Valley, you’ll have a comfy bed, ensuite bathroom, and cooking facilities.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for wildlife-spotting: Eurokah Campground is popular with campers, as well as kangaroos and cockatoos.
  • Best for views: Perrys Lookdown Campground provides views over the rugged Grose Valley and Blue Gum Forest.
  • Best for secluded wilderness: Acadia Flat Campground rewards well-experienced and intrepid campers with panoramic views and plenty of space.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Bookings are required for all campgrounds in the national park and can be made in advance online. If you have trouble booking online, call the National Parks Contact Centre.
  2. Some campsites do have offices onsite, but don’t rely on being able to make a last-minute reservation.
  3. Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance. As some campgrounds only have a handful of sites, aim to book as early as possible.

When to go

Summer is definitely the most popular time to visit the Blue Mountains, but much of the rest of the year has its own appeal. While winter is cold and only suitable for experienced and well-kitted-out campers, the spring and fall seasons have the advantage of being far less crowded with mild temperatures and crisp mornings and nights.. As the Blue Mountains are a favourite weekend getaway for Sydneysiders, try visiting on a weekday for fewer crowds.

Know before you go

  • National park campsites are often remote and have limited facilities, so come prepared.
  • Perrys Lookdown only allows campers to stay for one night.
  • While 2WD vehicles can access most campgrounds, a 4WD is recommended for some, including Murphys Glen, especially after rain.
  • Getting to Acacia Flat Campground requires a two-kilometre hike from Perrys Lookout or an eight-kilometre hike from Pierces Pass.
  • Pets are not permitted anywhere in Blue Mountains National Park.
