The Ridge Retreat is 6 acres of beauty topped off with amazing waterfront and an awesome new dock. A gravel road has been prepared from the road access right down to the lake. We recommend that you park on the upper portion of this driveway/road and walk or use an ATV to travel on the trail to the lake. As mentioned, there is about a 40 ft incline just as you approach the clearing down by the lake . Please wear running/walking shoes and descend slowly down either of the 2 trails provided. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc.  There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge.  This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge.  An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake.  The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.

A tranquil sanctuary of peace and solitude to soothe the soul, Simcoe Island is a bird watcher paradise, so close to the city of Kingston yet a world where time has stopped. Accommodations are a 16’ x 20’ prospector wall tent, set up with queen size deluxe air mattress, bunk bed and single cots for extra guests. We have a food prep table, dishes, frying pan and cooking pot, a small microwave, single induction cooktop, small bar fridge and a kettle and coffee maker. You can eat your meals at the picnic table inside the tent or at the outside picnic table. There is a kerosene heater for cooler nights and a wood pellet stove which will heat the tent during the winter months. An outdoor dishwashing station is available with on demand hot water. We have a basic dug privy. There are bicycles available to use to explore the island and there are 3 kayaks and 2 canoes for paddling in the sheltered channel and the lake. Fishing generally is good. Ferry toll is $10 for a return trip and the ferry from downtown Kingston to Wolfe Island is free. Linens and sleeping bags are available if requested . FALL and WINTER CAMPING at Windpsalm: Kerosene and/or wood pellets costs will be discussed prior to or upon guests arrival during the fall and winter months. The pellet stove's fan tends to be a bit noisy but it does a good job of making the tent warm and comfortable. Fen stayed in the tent in February when the overnight temperatures were -25C and the inside temperature on the back wall was 18C. Fen's grandchildren are also regular winter campers at Windpsalm. We can also provide a few sets of snowshoes and if requested a popup ice fishing hut. In the event that the snow is too deep for your vehicle, we will transport our guests to the tent in our farm John Deere Gator.

If you want privacy and seclusion this is your place . Our family lives on 80 acres 8 minutes from the town of Campbellford. We are on a dead end road out in the country. Upon arrival simply turn into our driveway and drive right past our house following the dirt path. Turn left just down the hill to the River. We are located on Bradley Bay on the Trent river with kms of lock free boating between Percy Boom and Glen Ross . We are located across from an island called Anderson island. Pike, pickeral, bass , Muskie ,channel cat ,and pan fish are in these waters. Our point is very private with plenty of birds and wild life to watch . We have one of our trails marked clearly threw out the woods for you to enjoy . We have a complementary canoe, 1 adult kayak, 1 adult SUP and 1 child’s kayaks . Life jackets and boat safety kits are also available . On the point we have a small fire pit and 2 docks. 1 of the docks face the river and one is up our little lagoon . A wonderful place for adults and children alike to fish , swim , relax and catch frogs and fire flies. We do have a few chairs and a child’s little turtle pool to swim and play in. The point is a long narrow grassy area. There are about 3 spots you could park a trailer . We think currently the max length would be a 24 foot trailer we could accommodate until we are able to open up the area a bit more. A small fishing boot about 14 foot and under could be launched at our water entry otherwise the closest public launch is about 5 minutes down the road . If we plan it ahead we have water from our well from a hose available. We are happy to let you fill your trailer up with water from our house hose on the way down to the point or any jugs you may have. Otherwise Ferris Provincial Park is about 7 minutes away. There is a water filling station and dumping station there for a small fee from the park. Things to do In area is the well known suspension bridge located in Campbellford. Doohers bakery and the Empire Cheese Factory and Chocolate Factory all within 10 minutes from our house . We also have local Breweries in the area, one being about 8 minutes away called the Fogorig Brewing. Campbellford is full of little shops and stores. It’s a beautiful walk back towards our house and down the laneway to the road as well. Great quiet country road for children and adults alike to go for a bike ride or walk along the road beside farmers fields where usually deer and sandhill cranes are seen. We usually touch base with our campers a week or so before there arrival date to give exact directions to our house via Hipcamp message. Upon arrival if arranged ahead of time we can be here to meet and greet you and ensure you are settled in. Otherwise there isn't a guarantee we will be at the property upon arrival but we can ensure that we will always have someone by phone for you to reach if need be at all times.

Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!! PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices. ***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this. We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

There is a dock where you will find the canoes, a kayak, paddles and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!! PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices. ***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this. We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

This wonderland of green was so beautiful. The land & water is just breathtaking and the peaceful atmosphere. Fen was a great host very friendly, everything was in order. The sleeping space was warm and cozy. Our dog loved the space to run. Will be returning!

Monica is fantastic host. The campsite is clean. The yellow chalet is cute. Each cottage houses have there own personalities. They have the stuff you need for cooking and fire pit. Access to the water is good. Good for swimming boating and fishing. The hiking trails are marked. Highlly recommended if you like nature away from city noises.

Weekend Trip to Bushwood!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side. This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands. Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope. On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

Weekend Trip to The Ridge Retreat

We had a great time at The Ridge Retreat! The campsite is beautiful, well-maintained, and the views are amazing. The fire pits were perfect, and we really appreciated how easy it was to set up camp near the road at the top of the hill. That spot is very convenient for loading and unloading gear, though being close to the road does mean you’ll occasionally hear passing cars and nearby dogs. Next time, we’d probably choose a spot closer to the water for more privacy and atmosphere. The trail leading down to the water and lower campsites is long with steep inclines, so be prepared for a bit of a trek. We brought a wagon, which made transporting our things manageable—without it, carrying everything would’ve been tough. The dock and water setup are absolutely gorgeous. We spent most of our days down there soaking in the views, and our dog had the best time playing by the water. We didn’t swim ourselves, and while we didn’t catch any fish, just being by the water was incredibly relaxing. The host was wonderful—very friendly, accommodating of our late arrival, and made sure we had plenty of firewood. Overall, we’d definitely recommend The Ridge Retreat to anyone looking for a scenic, peaceful camping experience with a balance of convenience and adventure.

Very private and quiet space. View of the water was definitely a hike but absolutely worth it. An excellent time was had by all! Already planning to visit again! ☺️

The type of person you are and your expectations of what should be…determines how you accept your stay anywhere you go!!! I can ABSOLUTELY say that my stay with my son at Tara’s piece of heaven on earth…known to most as…land…was wayyyy more than what I hoped for!!! There was so much going on around us…and you know what…we didn’t even notice a thing going on…unless we wanted to notice something going on! Plain n Simple!!! We were on a FAMILY owned PARADISE…with amazing people all around…no matter which way you poke a stick at it! Peter…you’re a great man and just from our talks…I want you to know that I will forever be at your beck and call…WHEREVER and WHENEVER you need ANY sort of help! Will most definitely be returning and for at least a month buddy!!!

It was an amazing spot to stay, the outhouse was super clean, it was very quiet and peaceful! It is definitely a hike to get to the water from where we decided to put our tent up so we will definitely remember to bring the wagon next time, to make bringing things up/down a bit easier. We brought our dogs and they LOOVED It - soo many squirrels to chase and they loved jumping off the dock Overall super nice spot!

This is our second visit this summer to Tiny Village Woodlands. Such a nice park! Very clean and well cared for. We loved this site. It is a large site, with good privacy. It has an upper and lower level which is right on the water. The incline between the levels is steep, which may not work for some but was fine for us. Monica is a great host, very friendly and accessible if you need anything. We have nothing but good things to say about our visit.

Weekend Trip to Ranger on Rice!

Had a great stay! Peaceful, rejuvenating simple days. Pros: + The RV is well furnished and comfortable. Sink, flush toilet, full fridge and even microwave! + Close to the lake, great if you have a boat. + Good fishing, little weedy but a good time. + Everything was clean. + Everyone was very friendly and accommodating! Cons: - The space is quite open and not very private if you're hoping for a "camping" feeling experience. - The trees are by the lake so there isn't any shade or shelter. I'd recommend bringing a canopy or beach tent. - The RV is older and not completely bug proof, our swatter got plenty of use. Overall quite pleased and highly recommend staying here. Consider the RV a significant upgrade to a tent, get out on the lake if you can, you'll have a great time!

What a cute little getaway. The hosts were amazing and easy to contact if we needed anything. Lots of room for our husky to run and play. I would love to bring our grandson up with us next time. Inside the cabin is beautiful and also very spacious. Even when it was raining we all had a great time playing a few games of pool. The best was relaxing with the family around the fire pit. The location is also very close to all amenities.

We really enjoyed our stay, Peter was prompt at helping us when we needed it. This is a great place if you like peace and quiet. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the hill and the sunrise over the lake. Lots of geese and other birds to watch and listen to.

This is an amazing place. Me and my 8 year old boy had an awesome father son camping and fishing trip. Sonia is a great host and the property is beautiful and quiet and secluded. The gazebos have pretty much everything you need. The bass fishing is about as good as I have had. Highly recommend.

The water was fabulous for swimming and paddling around. The site was very private and peaceful. We saw a beaver, some deer, frogs, snakes and a variety of birds. Despite the fire ban, we really enjoyed a (mostly) bug-free stay. Sandra was a very accommodating and gracious host.
