The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. 1 night at U•nik Escapes Near Awenda Park

We just came back from a wonderful family getaway at Lucie’s place in Tiny, Ontario — and it was perfect! We rented a travel trailer and parked it right on her beautiful property. The space was peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature, with tons of room and trails to explore. Our kids absolutely loved the private playground and especially feeding the chickens! Lucie and her family were very welcoming and made sure everything was just right for our stay. We’ll definitely be coming back — highly recommend this hidden gem for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors!

A beautiful and accessible but secluded spot! Great for a relaxed car camping experience. The host was helpful and responsive. Fire pit and provided chairs/picnic tables were all in excellent condition. Bathroom also excellent and clean. 10 / 10 would camp again!

We had such a great family weekend staying with Donna near Mono Cliffs! The spot was peaceful, clean, and perfect for our trailer. Donna was so kind and helpful — it was a busy weekend at the park, and she went out of her way to show us where the locals park instead of the main provincial park lot, which made things so much easier. The kids loved exploring and we enjoyed being surrounded by nature but still close to everything. We’d absolutely stay again — thank you, Donna, for making it such a relaxing and welcoming stay!

Wonderful setup and lovely location. Up on a hill surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. Great clean and cozy outhouse/washroom facility. Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

Weekend Trip to The Farm

Elana and family were wonderful hosts! I booked a few days just to “get away” and reset, and this was a perfect spot to do so. The animals (mini donkeys, oh my goodness!, the goat who welcomed me alongside Elana, the ducks that swam around the pond…) and the “Enchanted Forest” were highlights. I would have stayed longer (much longer!) if I could, and hope to be back next year… maybe to see baby donkeys or Highland cows? :) Thanks so much for a lovely weekend.

What a great spot! The sunsets over the pond are incredible. Lots of flat spots for tents. Great hammock spots. The closeness to Mono Cliffs is amazing and Donna is super helpful in providing recommendations for hiking and parking. While the house is visible form the site. There is still a sense of privacy. Donna was attentive and helpful.

2 nights at Waterfield Ridge

It was a great spot to pitch a tent and unwind after a few days of fishing some Haliburton lakes. Easy to get to and Jennifer was a great and helpful host. The location is very scenic with the marsh and pond nearby and beautiful tall woods surrounding the site. We didn't get to meet Jennifer (we were too busy fishing all day) but she kept in contact and provided firewood as needed. The only downside I could think of was the barbecue on site didn't seem to have any propane, which was no big deal. We brought our own and actually didn't even know there would be one provided. The outhouse was a bit rustic, but for two guys living off the land it was a luxury to have a toilet at all. Lol. Would definitely go back!

2 nights at River Gettaway

Lovely spot right by the River on Paul's land. My friend and I pitched our tents on site #2 and had plenty of space to enjoy while also being completely seperated from the other sites. This space offers the ease of car camping with the feel of backcountry - aside from the noise of cars near by (which didnt not bother us in the slightest, especially when sleeping at night) I would love to stay here again and am so thankful that Paul has created this space to share with others.

I had a lovely stay! Renee was kind (even though I mistook her for another camper!) and understanding, and the place was exactly what I was looking for for this visit: quiet and all to myself! The washrooms were clean and spacious, the crickets and birdsong and crackling fire were the only company I needed. I would absolutely return for another visit.

We had a wonderful experience at Donna’s private campsite. Multiple options for where to pitch a tent or place a small camper. Great firepit, clean privy set back just enough to be private but not too far away for nighttime visits. A grill, cute table & chairs, pondside hammock, all of which we used. And delightful grassy paths carved out of the hilly spots, rewarding the explorer with great views of the pond and surrounding terrain. Best of all, Donna was a great host, greeting us very soon after our arrival, checking in just the right amount, seeing us off at departure. Very personable and full of helpful tips on how to best enjoy the surrounding area (try dinner at Peter Cellars!). We would love to return some day!
