Greener Pastures Eco Farm

4 sites · RVs, Tents75 acres · Woodstock, ON
Our farming adventure began in the Spring of 2015 on a 15 acre farm. In 2020 we moved to a 75-acre farm just outside of Woodstock, Ontario. Carl's childhood passion of animal husbandry was given a new purpose when our family made a conscious decision to change the way we related to our food. We began a family quest to eat locally and sustainably. As our little farm grew we developed relationships with our greater community and Greener Pastures was born! As our farming adventure continues, we are loving that each day brings new opportunities for learning. We invite you to join us as we continue to seek greener pastures! While here, be sure to visit the On-Farm Shoppe for fresh eggs, meats, and other great local products.

Very Private Riverside

1 site · Tent70 acres · Stratford, ON
I am a country girl who loves to meet people from around the world and share our beautiful bit of space with others who seek quiet and solitude. Steve is my husband and the capable hand that brought my dream of a HipCamp alive. We seek to share our special property with guests who want to drink in nature in a very quiet setting. You will have 1 large campsite beside a river in a lightly forested area, surrounded by farmland. You will be the only booking on our complete 70 acres, so you can enjoy this piece of country in privacy. Cook all your own food over a campfire, or try area restaurants or pizza (5+ km away). A tent structure with a 'thunder box' set-up brings you privacy for bathroom needs. You will be expected to dispose of your waste in the compost bins provided. There are two tables and seating for four, a swing to enjoy gazing over the river, and a few other spaces to discover. Wake to the gobble of wild turkeys and possibly the yipping of coon kits or wild coyotes. Bring your pet. You can drive your own 4x4 near (but not onto) the campsite when it's dry. The last hill is carry-in. Or you can choose to begin your detox with a 1 km moderately challenging hike through woods, fields and meadow while we run your supplies back. Buy campfire bundles or gather your own from abundant amounts of deadfall in the woods. During the day you can wade up the river or dangle a line. Every week of the year, the river changes and offers its own experience, sometimes full and fast, and sometimes slow and meandering. We welcome you to harvest the woods for berries, build wigwams with downed wood, and wander the trails with your canine family member to enjoy off-leash roaming. Once you turn in for the night, you will sleep well in the quiet with darkness high-lighting the stars. We are near Millbank with the famous Anna Mae's bakery and pleasant, family-run, Zehr's Country Market for fresh local foods and basic groceries. Kitchener-Waterloo and Listowel are the nearest largest cities.

Echo Hill Wildlife Habitat

1 site · Lodging100 acres · Embro, ON
HipCamp's Best Cabin Finalist 2022 Echo Hill is a unique camping experience because you will be camping in our private wildlife habitat sanctuary. We only rent out one campsite in our 100 acres of forested land, so you will have complete privacy. If you like to be alone in the woods this is the place for you. The white pine trees you see were planted by my parents over 60 years ago. We also have hiking trails throughout our wooded, rolling hills for you to explore. It is a fantastic place to view wildlife. Our completely off-the-grid little rustic one-room cabin with a screened-in porch, by the wildlife pond, where you will camp, was built by hand by my father. (see photos) Experience our rewilding. Practice your bushcraft. Writers, painters, musicians, and poets have created and composed in our little cabin by the pond. All Profits from the campsite go toward maintaining our native wildlife habitat sanctuary. We are private property and not a public campground. Local Attractions: Our wildlife sanctuary/organic farm is 18 km from Stratford where you can rent canoes and paddle boats to use on the Avon River. There are several grocery stores there. There is a great swimming quarry in St. Marys which is just 17 km away. There are two grocery stores in St. Marys. Lakeside Resort is 7 km away and is a good place to take small children swimming. There is additional hiking at Wildwood Lake Conservation Area and Harrington Mill Pond Conservation Area. Both just North of us. Canoes can be rented at Wildwood.
