A tranquil sanctuary of peace and solitude to soothe the soul, Simcoe Island is a bird watcher paradise, so close to the city of Kingston yet a world where time has stopped. Accommodations are a 16’ x 20’ prospector wall tent, set up with queen size deluxe air mattress, bunk bed and single cots for extra guests. We have a food prep table, dishes, frying pan and cooking pot, a small microwave, single induction cooktop, small bar fridge and a kettle and coffee maker. You can eat your meals at the picnic table inside the tent or at the outside picnic table. There is a kerosene heater for cooler nights and a wood pellet stove which will heat the tent during the winter months. An outdoor dishwashing station is available with on demand hot water. We have a basic dug privy. There are bicycles available to use to explore the island and there are 3 kayaks and 2 canoes for paddling in the sheltered channel and the lake. Fishing generally is good. Ferry toll is $10 for a return trip and the ferry from downtown Kingston to Wolfe Island is free. Linens and sleeping bags are available if requested . FALL and WINTER CAMPING at Windpsalm: Kerosene and/or wood pellets costs will be discussed prior to or upon guests arrival during the fall and winter months. The pellet stove's fan tends to be a bit noisy but it does a good job of making the tent warm and comfortable. Fen stayed in the tent in February when the overnight temperatures were -25C and the inside temperature on the back wall was 18C. Fen's grandchildren are also regular winter campers at Windpsalm. We can also provide a few sets of snowshoes and if requested a popup ice fishing hut. In the event that the snow is too deep for your vehicle, we will transport our guests to the tent in our farm John Deere Gator.

As mentioned, there is about a 40 ft incline just as you approach the clearing down by the lake . Please wear running/walking shoes and descend slowly down either of the 2 trails provided. The trail "Easy Street" is definitely an easier descent and climb. Learn more about this land: Situated just off the main road, The Ridge Retreat offers you the privacy and beauty of 6 unspoiled acres. Follow the gravel walkway/road down (5 min walk) to your amazing private dock situated on Howes Lake, Verona Ontario. Deep, clean water for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc.  There are 2 firepits should you decide to have a campfire - one at the road site (RV and trailer) and one at the waters edge.  This property provides privacy and solitude for nature lovers. The designated RV parking spot is up near the main road along with a very nice outhouse but if you decide to tent camp, there are a few choices that would bring you closer to the water's edge.  An additional outhouse is located at the top of the incline to the lake.  The gravel/asphalt trail down by the lake is the steeper of the 2 trails. Choose the "Easy Street" trail off to your right after you pass the stop sign indicating that no vehicles should drive beyond. This trail is a bit longer but a much more gradual incline. Grocery shopping, nature trails, etc are just a few minutes away. The scenic town of Westport is a 30 min drive away with amazing shops and a local winery.

A private piece of Prince Edward County! An adorable little retro styled bunkie on a private woodsy property that’s just a fifteen minute walk (or three minute drive) from a picturesque rock beach on Lake Ontario. Tucked in privately from the road out of site by a bunch of junipers and other trees located on the property. The bunkie offers a nice queen sized bed, a little area to the side with chairs and a table to relax if you need to get out of the sun/rain, and a very chill 70’s beach vibe. If the wind is just right, you will be able to hear the waves crash from the beach! The property has a perfect little hangout area where there is a nice big fire pit, patio table/chairs, as well as a portable bbq (you will just need to bring your own little Coleman propane cylinder with you.) If it’s a nice clear night, stare up to the sky and you may see the Milky Way above! There are a couple short loop trails that you can walk your dog on that loop from the bunkie/hangout area that will loop you back to either spot on the property. I just ask you to be respectful of cleaning up after your pets if you bring any. There are some pylons located in areas on the trails to indicate not to go past those any further due to it being not maintained past that those points. The land is located on probably one of the quietest roads in the County. You may see more off road vehicles if your on your way to the beach then you would cars. There is also a little outhouse located at the front of the property off to the side of the driveway. Twenty minutes from the town of Picton where you can find any amenity you require! A gorgeous town with tons of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farm stands, artisans and shopping. Check out the rest of Prince Edward County by just adding a few more minutes to your trip in any direction to explore our other great towns around the community. So much to see and do here, lots of sightseeing, nature trails, conservation areas and don’t forget the world famous Sandbanks provincial park! (The largest sandbar beach in Canada). A couple of things to note: Brass Point Bridge will be closed starting June 24 2026 so plan your travel accordingly. Ticks are present in our area so please bring spray and do regular tick checks.

Nice quiet location nestled in the woods. Short walk to the private lake, where a leisurely cruise around in the canoe is very nice. The trails are great for seeing the woods and rivers in the area, full of wildlife. Indoor bathroom is definitely a convienient feature.

Weekend Trip to Wilderness Trails At Sumac

Totally worth the drive up to this site! We had a wonderful time camping there. When we arrived, Paul greeted us and gave us a tour of the area. He was wonderful! The camp spot is super private and incredibly well equipped! Honestly, really impressed by what they offer - BBQ, a table to prep, a picnic table, cooking utensils, and WATER at the campsite, which was such a luxury for us. The campsite also leads directly into hiking trails. We had such a nice time exploring the trails with our pup. They also have a dock and a lake to swim in, and it comes equipped with water toys like floaties, a canoe, a kayak, etc.- our dog had so much fun playing in the water! He can be a bit skittish, so the site's calm and private atmosphere really helped. On top of that, you can use their bathroom and shower; they're very clean and well maintained. It is a short walk from the campsite - taking a hot shower after a day of activities was, again, pure luxury. Definitely a site to return to - what a special experience we had!

Weekend Trip to South Shore Hideaway - Hay Bay

This is my first Hipcamp and I'm more than grateful to camp here as my first time! The campsite is really clean and well maintained. Terry is very friendly, welcoming and helpful along the way. Just hope that you will continue opening the site for next year and I will definitely come again!!!

Weekend Trip to Windpsalm Acres

We had a great stay at Fen's place. The tent is very comfortable and well equipped. We were surprised at how spacious it was - much bigger than it appears in the photos. The camp had everything you need and is very well set up. The wildlife was fantastic We even saw a whole family of swans! And Don't miss out on Big Sandy Bay on wolfe island, it was beautiful with clear water and sand dunes!

Weekend Trip to Riverbend

We enjoyed our time at Graham and Katrina's property. It was exactly as advertised, a private and quiet retreat. Directions were straight forward The cabin was perfect with everything we needed to cook and make our stay comfortable. The propane stove was nice to cook on indoors as we had some rainy days. All and all we loved our stay. If your looking for peace and quiet and a recharge this is the place to stay. Thank you Graham and Katrina for sharing your little slice of Heaven.

Open, grassy spot. Lots of room for us to situate the trailer and setup the way we wanted. No firepit, but Craig delivered a picnic table right to us. Close walk to the brewery which had great beer, food, and an awesome band for live music. We will come back! Thanks Craig!

We had a perfect camping experience at Sandi and Terry’s place! They were lovely and easy to communicate with but left us our privacy, too. The spot is beautiful with great swimming and lots of wildlife. Very clean outhouse as reported :) Can’t wait to return! The hill down to the water is no joke but I sure felt fit after 4 days of going up and down

5 nights at Riverbend

Our third stay at this wonderful little cabin, and Mother Nature has given us a different experience every time! Last year brought a fire ban and a quiet riverbed, while New Year’s gave us all her winter charms—sun, snow, ice storms and even a blizzard. This time the river was running, and oh, the sound of it—during the day and as we fell asleep at night. We had cozy rainy days, beautiful sunny ones, and one new addition…the mosquitoes! They were very determined to become our best friends and join every outdoor activity. Thankfully, a good fire helped establish some much-needed boundaries! We celebrated our anniversary here, and once again it was the perfect place to step away from the pressures of everyday life, slow down, reconnect with each other and remember what really matters. Three visits, three completely different experiences, and wonderful memories from each. We’ll be back!

I stopped there while on a multi day cycling trip across Ontario. The view is great, there weren't too many mosquitoes, and the path up to the site was recently mowed. Great place for stargazing too, or as it so happened during my stay, to watch the lunar eclipse!

4 nights at Sweet Escape

We loved our four nights at Alison’s and Marie! They were so kind, with beautiful attentions for our family with our 4yo. I loved how calm it was, very big lot and nobody near, so our daughter could enjoy running around even if she’s shy. The animals are well treated, the chickens are free roam and just enjoy their lives. We heard owls, coyotes and saw lots of butterflies and bats! The toilet was very clean. The gazebo is so cute. Sincerely, we just loved that we felt like we were part of their family! Talking with our hosts was so fun, not something I usually do, but their amazing vibes will make you comfortable! We were close enough for the beach of sandbanks but also to enjoy the other cities around! We found amazing family parks and loved when we return to the camp to just enjoy life with the animals. Just bring some earplugs for the rooster in the morning, to be expected! And bring enough water for your dishes, since there no washing station. Thanks for everything, Bettina ate all the courgette in a day and always ask for the « good honey » nonstop. We can’t wait to come again!

Beautiful camp spot and lots of room to explore. We had a great time walking the path to the lake and finding frogs and crickets. Very secluded and private. The lake was beautiful and full of fish, the kids caught sunfish from the dock. Sandra was very accommodating and made sure we were okay during our trip. We will for sure be back next year , we had a great time.

Weekend Trip to Cedar Cove Campsite

This was our first time at Cedar Cove Campsite, and we thoroughly enjoy our time here. The grounds were really well kept and clean when we arrived, everything was easy to find and nicely spaced out to feel explorative but convenient. The directions and information was well relayed for our arrival, Abbey, was really quick to respond to any questions and sent a file photo of all pertinent information that was helpful, and reminders of things to bring like tick prevention/removal items. Unfortunately the lake was advised not to swim in during our stay but it didn’t hinder our experience overall, something to look at before arriving and we were grateful we brought lawn games, fishing rods, cards and books for downtime. This was the perfect spot for our first family tenting experience and our kids are already asking when we can go back. Thanks Abbey!

Staying at the Tiny Village Woodland’s was incredible. The campsite was clean and exactly what we expected. The swimming area was so much fun!
