This was one of the original homesteads in the Margarees. There was an old sawmill on site which was used to build the house and barn. It was sold to a man who started renovations for a summer house but ended up listing it for sale. I purchased it and completely renovated the 100-year-old house. Shortly after, my brother and I started an outfitting company with no plan of building a campground, but in 2017 we saw a great opportunity for building something unique. We wanted to keep a backwoods camping feel, but yet create it around a hostel-inspired environment. We launched June 1, 2018 and are in full swing now. This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!!
There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat!
Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit!
- TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent.
Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy!
**KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). You can have complete privacy and feel free to reach out to me at the house if you need anything.
For those with RV's, there is an exterior outlet and a water spigot, but please remember, others might be staying there so we need to play nice and share!
On the property, there is:
- A decent-sized lake (I wish I had a canoe... :( )
- 1700's abandoned bridge
- Lots of foraging (Won't be held liable if ya eat something silly!)

Please be mindful of our garden and young fruit trees.
Please pack out ALL of your garbage as we do not have local garbage pickup... garbage can be disposed of in local towns.
The town of Louisdale offers free potable water and dump station (located next to Babins Yamaha).
The site is located near Cleveland NS. But unfortunately a snow plow knocked down the street sign a few years ago an despite complaints to Richmond County no sign has been replaced :( We will send you a directional map after booking.
You will turn off Hwy 4 at Evanston Rd. then turn south at Johnathan R Bouman Rd. (look for the black boots hanging on the wires above to turn at) which will be approx 2-3 kms down Evanston Rd. and is the 1st road you will come to. The site is the last driveway on the right. A rope is strung across the driveway, please unhook and rehook when you depart.... Enjoy your stay :)

We loved camping on Alan's property. Site 2 was a lovely grassy field which made for a very comfortable sleep! There's an outhouse, fire pit, chairs, picnic table and fire wood available which was very convenient. Alan was a wonderful host! We got the tent site and its super cute! The farm itself has seen better days but we'd wake up to the goats and turkeys grazing in the field next to us. There's no running water or electricity at the site and it is very remote. The road to get there is a bit rough. We got to hear some wild animals at night which was exciting.

I am not sure where to start. We spent two nights in Site B and it was phenomenal. We arrived with a dense fog late afternoon. The fog added so much to the site. Absolutely beautiful. Same the next morning. The fog cleared later that day and the skies were bluer than blue. The beach was both awesome and uninhabited.
We traveled from the US for 2 1/2 weeks via hipcamps and although most every one was fantastic, sure B was clearly one of the best we have ever utilized.

What a special place. Brians property has everything you need to be comfortable. It is very peaceful. He has a very nice area to relax and a large picnic table for meals. The electricity was very helpful for cooking on our skillet. His directions were excellent! I would recommend using Apple maps vs Google maps- Google wanted us to swim across the river to get there but Apple was spot on!

Chris has a beautiful spot. It is very quiet and peaceful. It is not a traditional campground experience, and caters a bit more to the self-service camper. He's a very friendly and easy going person. We were lucky to be the only ones there with a beautiful evening. I would definitely stay again.

Dan’s campsite worked out perfectly for me. Needed a last minute place and I was able to book. The grounds were incredibly peaceful and Dan provided lots of firewood to use. Highly recommended.
