Maplewood Creek is not a resort — it’s a natural setting with a touch of enchantment, where your body and soul are invited to rest.
IMPORTANT: the property is in the early stages of development and in its natural state. As with any natural destination you share the space with nature including black flies, mosquitoes, ticks and other insects. We do our best to minimize their presence in safe ways. We own 58 acres of forest centered on a very old shale pit near Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia. Our long-term mission is to regenerate the landscape, returning all of the property to a forest in time. We hope to establish small camping compounds for family, friends and guests who would like to stay with us and enjoy the amazing scenery of Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore.
Located just below Huey Lake, our property is watered by a stream that flows from the lake, through a series of tiny waterfalls in a gorge, through beautiful pine, maple, and oak forest down to a meandering wetland that drains into the Petite Riviere watershed.
Beavers are active in the area and have already begun the process of returning the old quarry to the wilderness. Their activities have created deep ponds where once there was a pit dug from the land for the shale that is abundant in this area. The beavers dammed and diverted the stream which has created a pond and wetland system at the lower end of the property. If you are very quiet in the early morning you may get to see Castor as he busily swims about his watery home.
Located near some of the most beautiful features of Lunenburg County, our property is a 5-minute drive from Crescent Beach, Risser's Beach Provincial Park, and Petite Riviere. Opportunities to cycle, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, surf and sail are all around us.

Andromeda House sits on 30 beautiful acres, stretching from our waterfront to the top of the Mountain. Perched dramatically above the Annapolis Basin, the views here are truly awe-inspiring—and only get more breathtaking as one explores higher up on the property.
Our path network is maintained for access to the very satisfying “Upper Lookout”. This path continues and you might just find your hosts working on this area. There are also various mountain access roads provide terrific hiking and mountain biking opportunities. Photography, rock hounding, mushroom hunting and star gazing are ideal activities. Birders in particular should be pleased.
The property has been in our family for generations and an old sled path winds through and up it. We are also developing a spring-fed swimming pond this summer.
Currently, we have new fields of sunflowers and wildflowers to attract pollinators—bumble bees, hummingbirds and monarch butterflies are especially abundant here. Wild apple trees abound and there is a stand of old maple trees we will be tapping next spring. Beyond that is a mature Beech and Poplar forest.
We are within walking distance to Victoria Beach, an authentic fishing village nestled at the base of the north mountain and surrounded by the Annapolis Basin, the Digby Gut and the Bay of Fundy.

Weekend Trip to Natura Wilderness Resort
We stayed for a lovely weekend in the Apple Tent. When we arrived, everything was clean and set up for us, including a chilled cooler and all the kitchen accessories we needed. The view over the valley was spectacular, especially when the sun was going down. The place was so peaceful, we were afraid WE were the loud ones. It was during a heat wave, but we managed to cool ourselves down with a swim at the Quarry, and later found a hidden gem at Falls Lake Provincial Park, both about 25 minutes away. We took Andee's suggestion to hike Cape Split and we were not disappointed! We will be booking at Natura again.

Nice spot. A relatively quiet and secluded location. The bed was very comfortable in the tiny home. A little river is near to sit by or to swim in and it's not deep. We enjoyed hearing and seeing the local farm animals and sitting by the propane fire pit. I will likey come back again.

The perfect mix of camp and glamp with privacy, peace and serenity. This is a great spot for a couple, friends or young family to enjoy the outdoors together. With animals on the farm, trails on the property, location close to Amherst and attentive hosts, you can't get much better than this! Bring some sunscreen, bugspray and smore stuff for the ultimate unwind and relaxing time. This was a beautiful solo and safe getaway if you just want some time to yourself. Weekend Trip to Moss Cottage Forest Glamping
We had the best time at Moss Cottage during our last minute getaway from the city. Chantelle and Gary have created a magical little hideaway in the forest with everything you could need to disconnect for a while and tune into nature. We had such a fantastic stay at this off-grid cabin. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and the cabin was thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. It was spotless, cozy, and perfectly tucked away in the trees for a peaceful getaway. Absolutely loved our stay! The camp had all the basic necessities for off grid, with perfect layout and warm decor. The land and trails were so fun to explore. Snowshoeing and winter bonfire were great - peaceful nature retreat at its best. Dawn and Terry were very much great hosts, with directions and explanations at the start, even lending us a sled for our unrequired heavy packs, as well as letting us know to reach out anytime if anything more needed. No need for that, the cabin already had all we needed for a weekend stay, along with special touches. The games and puzzles were a great addition too! Thanks so much for sharing your piece of paradise!!

We surprised my parents with a stay at Bootsie Back 40 Cabin for their 40th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! The hosts went above and beyond with every detail. The cabin itself is so cozy and welcoming, surrounded by stunning fall colors that made the whole experience magical.
My parents loved the peace and quiet — they spent their mornings sipping tea while listening to the birds sing. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and even took photos of my parents for me, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also got to visit the farm animals (including two emus!), which they absolutely adored.
Thank you for helping me give my parents such a memorable and heartfelt experience. This will be a trip they’ll cherish forever!

Weekend Trip to Bootsie's
Great little spot. The wood stove made it very cozy and we had enough power for the water, lights and coffee in the morning. It was great having a camping experience while not having to take down tents in the morning. Recommend it if you're in the area.

1 night at Porters Peak
My husband and I had a fantastic time at the chalet. Our first night in NV at Porter's land was a thrilling adventure in nature, with the delightful chorus of birds. I even had a refreshing dip in the lake, and we were up before sunrise to witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the misty lake. It was an exhilarating experience in Porter's land, and we're already counting down the days until our next visit!

2 nights at Natura Wilderness Resort
Our stay at the Natura Wilderness was amazing. Private, cute, and very well-maintained. The propane stove, shower, and toilet all worked great! The location is close to a provincial park and gas station / coffee spot. Not far from Windsor. It was the perfect place for us.
We would definitely recommend!
