Field & Fern is a place where time slows, the air feels sweeter, and the world seems to hush just long enough for you to hear your own heartbeat again. Here, mornings begin with the glow of sunrise spilling across the meadow, warming your hands as you cradle a fresh cup of coffee on the veranda. Afternoons drift by in a hammock suspended between earth and sky, or wandering through wild grasses toward the whisper of nearby waterways. And when night comes, the fire crackles, the stars gather close, and the hot tub glows warm beneath the moonlight—just for you. Each cabin is a tiny sanctuary of rustic charm, a cozy “bedroom in a field,” built for dreamers, wanderers, and those who long for a quiet place to fall in love again—with nature, with each other, with the simple joy of slowing down. Field & Fern isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a place to soften, to breathe, to remember what peace feels like.

Sunrise Cottage 1 w/Hot Tub

If you love the feeling of camping but prefer sleeping in a real bed, Field & Fern is the perfect retreat. This tiny, one-room cottage offers the charm of the outdoors with the comfort of home. A heat pump keeps you cool in the summer and cozy in the winter, making it an inviting escape year-round. Guests often describe our cabins as “a bedroom in a field,” and it’s easy to see why. Evenings are magical here. Sit by your private fire pit and gaze up at the stars while listening to the gentle brook that runs directly behind your cabin. Curl up in your hammock with a book, or unwind in the property’s centrally located hot tub. When morning comes, wake to birdsong and enjoy a hot coffee as you watch the sunrise from your covered veranda. Your stay includes a key to your own private washroom in the shower house, located just steps from your cottage. Your personal bathroom features hot showers and an odourless, waterless composting toilet, giving you comfort and privacy without sacrificing the off-grid feel. Field & Fern sits on 15 fenced acres with stunning countryside views and plenty of space for your furry companions—yes, we’re pet-friendly. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the access to local adventures. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, snowmobiling, ATV riding, horseback riding, waterfall exploring, or fishing, you’ll find endless ways to explore nature. Several beautiful waterways are also within walking distance. We’re only an 12 minute drive from the charming town of Tatamagouche, home to sandy beaches, the Tatamagouche Brewery, Big Al’s Pub, the Farmers Market, cafés, pizza shops, unique boutiques, The Nook and Cranny, an ice cream bar, Foodland, and the NSLC. Each cottage includes a heat pump, private BBQ, fire pit, hammock, breakfast nook, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, induction burner (with one medium pot and one medium pan), and a comfortable full sized bed. The shared hot tub is open for all guests to enjoy. Please note: Towels and toiletries are not provided. There is no WiFi at Field & Fern—we encourage guests to unplug and enjoy the peaceful environment. We provide a basket of rainy-day games, and we recommend downloading movies or music before you arrive. Cell service is limited; texting works, but data is unreliable
