Saltwater and beach fishing, kayaking, boating, golfing, and hiking are just minutes away. There is a resort and marina across the road and an Italian kitchen restaurant . Shelter Point Distillery property is adjacent to the property. The trail goes along the ocean, through old-growth forests and along the river ending at a grocery, liquor store, coffee and pizza place, medical clinic and a small pharmacy. The property does have an outhouse, electrical plug-in option at house and water hose close to house. This place is best suited for self-contained campers who can park in the open field or under fir trees near to the house. Tents, smaller travel trailers and camper vans can be accommodated. In the early 1900s, a hotel was on the property that serviced the ships heading north in the straight and those travelling between Campbell River and Courteney. The area is within 2 km of two large sand beaches, a Chinese restaurant, and a Spa. Between Salmon Point and Courtney, you will find farm land with local fruits, vegetables, eggs and meat for sale and wineries.

A quiet and private forested area for RV camping. We are close to Miracle Beach, at the bottom of Mt. Washington and many of Comox Valley's beaches, hiking and biking trails. Our secluded and meditative forest glade has electricity and running non-potable hot and cold water. There is a small kitchenette, but you will need to be self-contained for water and bathroom. The lawn is perfect for little ones running around. We're working to improve things, but it's pretty basic at the moment! We have very close neighbours that can hear you even if you can't see them. Please be respectful of them and our community. Our neighbours own the trails near the Glade and they are not for public use. Quiet time starts at 9pm. Come and enjoy our peaceful home.

We did end up booking a tour with them of their place which was truly spectacular and original. Me and my parter have already discussed when we will return next. Love the micro-cabin. It is very compact and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed the firepit and kitchen. Kito was very healpful and even provided us with extra heater. The water in the outdoor shower is very cold so it could be improved. But im sure that Kito will immediately fix it if you message him. We didnt need to use it during that time so it wasnt a problem for us. Overall, it is a nice place and very private. We also enjoyed the trail.

I would recommend for my low maintenance friends as the pee toilet in the cabin is a separate room with a seat, however is a 20gallon paint bucket that you do have to clean. This didn’t bother me, but may bother some. I didn’t shower when I stayed because the shower was very dirty and full of garbage from previous guests. The compost toilet is clean and right around the corner from the cabin. There are workers/helpers/younger (quiet) crew who live on site and are very helpful and wonderful. I loved staying here and will be back. My only concern was the lack of cleanliness of the shower. I’ve posted an updated photo.

We loved tent camping on Paul's property, we drove around and looked at every site and ended up picking site 8 for it's privacy and cute little pond area, though we would have been ecstatic with any of the sites as they were all private and tidy. Boyd and Ace (resident campers we ran into) were also very kind and Ace was fun to pet! (He's a dog haha) the ocean was walking distance away which was also very nice. Paul even offered to deliver firewood to us and build us a cozy campfire! Would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a secluded, private, clean place to camp. We'll definitely be back next year!

There is an electric hookup for an RV, water is available, and a gravel strip beside the RV parking spot provides space to set up portable camping equipment. A large open area is also adjacent to the campsite. Dogs are welcome, but please note the backyard is not fenced. With rabbits and other small wildlife in the area, dogs must remain on a lead or under control at all times. When to go

Vancouver Island’s mild climate means outdoor adventures like caving can take place year-round, but summer is best (and most crowded) for camping and taking full advantage of the lakes and rivers for water sports. Late summer and early fall is the annual salmon run, during which you can spot the scarlet-hued fish swimming upstream to spawn.

Know before you go

Most provincial parks take site reservations in advance (recommended throughout the high season of summer) and give an early priority booking window to BC residents.
Getting to Vancouver Island by car from the mainland requires ferry travel, which becomes extremely busy on weekends and holidays, so reserve a spot in advance to avoid long wait times.
Central Vancouver Island is rugged, so being mindful and respectful of wildlife is essential, including using bear bags while camping.
