Now owned by the Pinson Family, this land was originally purchased by the Schmitt Family nearly a century ago in the small town of Joyce, Washington, back when fishing was the only draw to this beautiful landscape. There is access to a private boat ramp, seaside privacy, and it is surrounded by beautiful trees.
Hand built rustic cabins line the coastline. Each has it's own unique name. Folks have been escaping to Whiskey Creek Beach for generations as a way to unplug from the hustle and bustle of todays busy lifestyle. With names like "Halibut Hole," "Codfish Cottage," and "Captain's Quarters," the charm is undeniable. The waves crashing over a pebble beach lull you to sleep, and the salt in the air wakes you in the morning. A private boat launch is very difficult to find anywhere on the sound. The boat launch at Whiskey Creek Beach is the only one between Fresh Water Bay and Sekiu.
Whiskey Creek Beach is a place you really must experience it in person. In a busy world, full of demands and obligations, it is rare to find a place so close that feels so far away. This truly is PNW living at it's finest.

This property was purchased nearly half a century ago. For the majority of this time the forest section you will be camping in was left undeveloped, apart from a few mountain bike trails. Recently, as a family, we have seen a large increase in the people traveling to the Sunshine Coast to escape the city limits. Unable to rock up to a campsite and pick our spot like we used to, it was easy to see a growing demand. We have taken everything we love about camping and done our best to give you a sense of what life on the Coast is really about. Gibsons -Sunshine Coast is a 40 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver BC
Please note: By entering onto the property you release all liabilities towards us as hosts. You are choosing to camp in a forested area that contains many hazards as well as potential threats. These include but are not limited to; Wild life (bears, bob cats, cougars etc), Fire is a serious threat to this region during summer months strict no smoking policy is in effect. Care should be taken walking around uneven surfaces. All campers are required to stay within camp boundaries fail to follow these protocols will result in being asked to leave.

The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need.
The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out.
The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee.
Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away.
There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets.

We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Staying at the Rhizosphere was a wonderful experience! Tyson came out to say hello upon our arrival and we met their driveway duck. Tyson had left excellent information and directions on how to work everything. We had a question the first evening and called, and he was at our door within 2 minutes.
The land is beautiful and very close to all the adventures in the northern part of the National park.
In case a composting toilet makes you unsure, I can assure you it was not a problem at all! I’ve used them before but Tyson left great directions and plenty of wood shavings.
The home was well stocked with tea, coffee, and even a few snacks. We really enjoyed our stay here and would deviously visit again!

We had an amazing stay at Deon and Kevin’s RV while celebrating my mom’s 50th birthday over the Fourth of July weekend. The RV was absolutely lovely and surprisingly spacious—more than enough room for our family of six to stay comfortably.
Deon and Kevin were wonderful hosts. They were always quick to respond, incredibly helpful with any questions we had, and accommodating to our needs throughout our stay. Their hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable.
The views were beautiful, and watching the Fourth of July fireworks from the property was truly special. We also appreciated how peaceful and quiet it was at night, making it easy to relax and unwind after a fun-filled day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily book with Deon and Kevin again in the future. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, scenic, and welcoming getaway!

Lovely spot! We enjoyed staying in the fully restored vintage trailer. Our site felt private and safe. It was a great spot to escape to from the city and was close to all of the local beaches and parks in the area. Our hostess was very sweet and made sure that we knew how everything worked and had everything that we needed for our stay.

Such an awesome place. The hand-built cabin is beautiful, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was the perfect quiet home base for exploring the area, and we loved being surrounded by nature. The horses next door were a bonus—especially for our dog!
Rose and Greg were incredibly kind, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. You can tell they genuinely care about creating a great experience for their guests. We’d happily stay here again.

We had a good time staying in the Gertie Bus. The couch was sufficient for the second person to sleep on. We got plenty of love from the kitties! I would stay here again. Short walk to the ocean and a nice little trail through the forest.

amazing place! felt very peaceful and magical. the amenities are awesome and the location is beautiful. it wasn’t too clear who the camp host was until they introduced themselves the last day of our trip. which was fine we didn’t really need anything. i think they could use some signage in certain areas too as it wasn’t too clear what some of the buildings were. for example the barn i didn’t realize was a staff area until i looked in the window. whoops. also the wood that’s available is kinda pricey in my opinion and wasn’t bundled up so it wasn’t clear how much wood made up and bundle and a lot of the wood was big and chunky and hard to fit in the fire pit. but these are minor comments and didn’t affect our experience at all. there’s plenty of places nearby to get wood for example

We loved staying at Paige's! The bunkies are so cute and comfortable and the hammock is lovely. Was so nice to have a cozy bed to return to after long days at the beach, markets, and touring around the island. Hard to believe how quiet it is there compared to home for us!

Magical place! Everything was perfect. We were in site #6 which was easy access. Hot showers with towels, coffee for breakfast. Didn't even need the sleeping bag, the tent was warm and cozy with a heater and blankets.

We had a wonderful stay at Oceans Edge Eagle Retreat! We were lucky to arrive right after the rain, and the weather turned beautiful. Our family had an amazing time enjoying nature and the whole glamping experience.
The site was very clean and well maintained. One thing we really appreciated was that there were almost no flies or mosquitoes, which made our stay much more comfortable.
The facilities were excellent. The kitchen was well equipped, there was hot water available, and the washrooms were very clean. Firewood was provided, which was a nice bonus. If you plan to have a campfire for a longer time, I would recommend bringing or ordering some extra wood. The host also offers additional firewood for purchase, which was very convenient.
Overall, this was a memorable experience for our family. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, and we could tell a lot of care went into maintaining the property. We would definitely love to come back again in the future!
Highly recommended for families looking for a comfortable and enjoyable glamping getaway.

We had an amazing stay! The site was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. The kitchen, hot water, and washrooms were all excellent. We especially appreciated how few bugs there were during our stay. The firewood provided was a nice touch, and additional wood was easy to purchase when needed. Our family had a fantastic time, and the beautiful weather after the rain made the experience even more special. We would definitely come back again. Highly recommend! 😊

Beautiful spot, well curated, clean, quiet, considerate host, comfortable and just right. Great access to the beach and hiking trails. There are kitties to snuggle with and plenty of berries to pick. Very grateful that we stayed here!
