Please note: we can only accommodate RV's, no tents, roof top tents, or car camping. You need to be fully self contained as there are no bathroom facilities and no nature pees! We are situated on 2 private acres completely surrounded by Elk Lake Regional Park. There are 3 generations of family living here as well as 2 dogs, a one-eyed cat, and chickens! Our campsite is in a beautiful location situated 20 minutes each from the Swartz Bay Ferry terminal and downtown Victoria. Access to great hiking just out your door at Elk Lake Regional Park (a 5 min walk to the beach for a swim, paddle, or fish at the nearby fishing dock) and Bear Hill Regional Park (20 min hike through fir and arbutus trees with beautiful views of the peninsula from the top). 10 minutes to Butchart gardens, with Butterfly Garden on the way. Ideal spot for campers looking to stay 1-2 nights. Great as a stopover to Tofino. Perfect for couples or groups of two, with a maximum of 4 campers. There are many wonderful farms and stands, wineries, coffee shops, and restaurants close by. Your site is a semi-private flat gravel area surrounded by fir trees. We had an excellent stay at this Hipcamp. The host was very responsive to communication and the self check-in was easy. We enjoyed the long walks along the large lake that's very close to the site. Although there is a road close by, it's a lower speed one and the Boise was very light, especially at night. The site was very level and sheltered in the trees. Cell reception was strong on both Telus/Bell and Rogers networks.

Easily accessed with our 24 ft Class B RV. Close to Victoria the site is just off the road very near Elk Lake. Many biking and walking opportunities. Very close to Butchart Gardens. Daytime traffic from the road is noticeable but usually becomes very quiet by evening. Good instructions to the site. Would stay here again.

My first Hipcamp. Was as described. Fine for my 20 foot van, but would be tight for anything much bigger. Used Go Treads to level. Only interaction with host was by email and that was pleasant and helpful.

Our last stop on the island, we had an amazing stay at Jody’s place. I was really surprised to see some less than great reviews about it! We had a Class B camper and found the spot easy to locate and back into. The spot is nestled amongst beautiful trees at the end of Jody’s drive. You’re semi-near the house but it’s more than private enough! This was a spot where we felt super safe and comfortable. Some reviews mention noise from being near the road, it is close but we had no issue with noise. The location is super near the lake and has a lovely walk down to it. We felt welcomed without the hosts being overbearing.

We followed Waze to the address in the Hipcamp listing, but the address sign indicated a different street. We backed out of the drive, went down the road, and did some research. According to the photos, the location looked correct, so we went back. We pulled into the site and set up. Shortly after, someone came out of the residence, walked to the garage area, and spent some time hitting a ball against the wall. The person never introduced themselves, said hello, or even waved. It was the oddest Hipcamp “welcome” that we’ve ever received. The location is great- Elk Lake and its walking/jogging trail are a short way down the park road, which is adjacent to the residence. Butchart Gardens is close by, as well, and they have set up a cute sitting area. Unfortunately, the site is also located right next to a road that gets a lot of loud motorcycle traffic in the evening - it did quiet down after dark though.

Exactly as advertised. Great location. Very small site with no table but a couple of chairs. Rural road noise but dies off for bedtime so no issue sleeping. A great (small) base camp for RV to go explore surrounding area. Nice to be able to walk to Elk Lake. Suited me perfectly for what I needed. Thanks Jody.

Jodi had built a small fence and decorated it with lights and two wicker chairs. Delightful. The site is right on a multiuser trail along Elk lake. so cycling was convenient. Also great. The only downside was the traffic on Brookleigh as it’s obviously used as a shortcut to the Highway All in all a good place to stay. Thanks

Perfect place to wind down

We loved this campsite! We wanted to explore Victoria and this was a perfect place to get back to after the busy city. Even though there was traffic on the road next to it, it felt very comfortable and private. They had some cute string lights and a propane fire for us, the hosts were very friendly and their dog Maggie visited us a couple of times. The lake is close by and perfect for a quick swim!
