Remote spot, needs maintenance

The campsite is accessible via a 4 km long gravel road with many potholes. Take a 4WD! Along the way, there is a gate with a padlock and a code. The path continues past the homestead and ranch through the forest to the camping spots. Our spot (D) was difficult to access by car, and the space itself was a bit too small and uneven to pitch a tent. Other spots were better. It’s a great campsite for those who want a rugged camping experience, but it would be good if the limited facilities were better maintained. The picnic table was wobbly.

Site B

Nice and private place, but we didn't realize it would be a half hour drive to go swimming at shawnigan lake. We were wanting somewhere that has easy access to swimming. The access road is a several km treck down a rough gravel road, and opening and closing a large, heavy, metal gate with a padlock. It was a pain to go exploring anywhere and not a fun drive to do in the dark (or even in the daytime). I wish we had known this ahead of time, as we would've chosen a different place. Also, as we were exploring the farm, looking at various animals, we were approached by 2 large dogs that were off-leash. They came up running and barking at us, which was intimidating. We weren't sure whether they're friendly or not.

Returning to Maple Heart Ranch

This is our second time visiting Maple Heart Ranch as we absolutely adore camping here! The property itself is nestled into a gorgeous forest which provides a secluded and peaceful atmosphere. Our highlight is always saying hello and spending time with their friendly horses. Above all, this is a wonderful place filled with wonderful people and we look forward to staying again. This is an amazing property and we certainly recommend you visit!

We were disappointed with our stay in Site D. The site was bumpy and uneven and looked like it had perhaps become a little overgrown - it did not look like the photo we saw when booking it. It wasn’t clear where the tent should be pitched but we used the only grassy area, although this area was still smaller than our 3 man tent. The majority of the site was damp mud which made it difficult to keep things clean. We also had little room at the side of the tent to get past when we wanted to access our car or the outhouse. The picnic table was not in great condition and seemed to have been shoved to the edge of the site so only one side was accessible to us unless we moved it. The directions to the site were clear however note there is a heavy gate to negotiate on the way in. I had to get assistance to close it. Overall the location of the campsite is in a quiet spot, and sites a, b and c looked much nicer. Site D just wasn’t for us!

Super chill space under the stars

There's no signage on the trail for turns, but the directions in email were clear. Yes, it's a gravel and somewhat bumpy road, some say AWD, but I did it in my regular VW Golf and had no issues going slow. Excellent private spot. Horses were chill and it was an easy check in. I'd come back.

Little Forest Escape

This was a little gem in the woods. Conny was easy to get a hold of and provided clear instructions. The tent spots were definitely tight for an SUV but they were secluded. Nice and quiet. Make sure you have a good sleeping pad… lots of rocks and uneven ground. I stayed in D. The animals were great! Nice little addition. Over all I recommend.

We really appreciated staying on Conny's land. It was very clean, very private and very quiet meaning no loud music or people revelling. Con y has a wonderful spot hidden in tbe forrest with lots of animals to keep your interest peeked . Thanks so much Conny :)

Great little hideaway and not too far from Victoria. Our site was nice and private. The gravel on the drive up was difficult at times, but vehicles with good clearance should have no problem.

Wild Horses and Quiet Site

Overall it was private and we loved the horses. When getting to the gate, Conny was prompt and no issues with the drive in. Our drive was comfortable in our CRV but might be slower in a car. Lucky that we brought our own TP because there was none in the washroom. Sites are simple with a fire ring and picnic table.

Our campsite was private and nestled in nature. We had so much fun interacting with the horses, they were very friendly and sweet. The surrounding property was spacious, beautiful, and beaming with wildlife.

A very comfortable camping environment, with horses, sheep, and other animals keeping you company — a great choice. The pit toilet was clean and odor-free, definitely worth a thumbs-up. Suggestion: It would be even better if the toilet door could close properly and if there were running water

Lovely ranch, very secluded. Campsites are very private. Remember to bring your own water, and bring your own sanitizer. A note for bikers: at the time of writing this, the road from the CVT is quite bumpy. 2 in our group got flats. 4km off the trail, Google maps is misleading for the address listed.

We came in on Motorcycles with everything prearranged and easily found some excellent sites to pitch the tents. Connie was kind enough to give us water for our water bladder. The farm animals are abundant and gorgeous. That was a nice added bonus for us. Connie was an excellent host, happy to discuss the land and the animals. We will definitely go again, next time to go on some horse riding tours and to explore the Shawnigan area.

Cabin

Here is the Maple Farm Hip Camp add: Enjoy the comforts of home in nature at some pitches — including real toilets, showers, and kitchen Hot water . There is a very basic shower in the cabin. It works for a rinse off, but nothing fancy Cancellation policy: Flexible 2WD accessible Here is what we found on our trip: There was no hot water. I phoned the host who was next door, instead of coming over she gave directions to turn the valve on at the back of the tub for the water. I found the valve but the hot valve was on the right cold side, opposite to where it should have been. after discovering this turning it on the water went from cold to a little less cold. After trying a few times the water still didn't come hot. I played with the dial on the heater and when I tried to get a refund for the second night she said the water was my fault because I had switched the dial. She didn't acknowledge there wasn't hot water anywhere in the cabin. As above the add says HOT WATER. I couldn't spend 3 days and 2 nights in January without hot water. There was no cabin binder or written instructions for anything. and besides, if she knew we were coming wouldn't she want to turn the plumbing valve on at the back of the tub? The pull out couch mattress was thin, springs felt through and was brown with no sheets On app confirmed for 2 adults. Host provided towels and sheets for 1 and agued we had only booked for 1 With this and lot's more wrong, mostly a negligent, uncaring host.

Conny and her daughter are very welcoming and happy to share stories of their not always easy farm life. Yes the access road is rather long especially if you’re bike packing but it’s rewarded by very quiet stay in wilderness and you get to see a wild boar!!!

Secluded and simple

Pro: Campsite was nestled in nature, private and fern forest. I liked the site Cons: It was a long gravel road to access. There wasn't much to do on site and the entry was messy with a car top at the gate and we didn't see a lake and the bathroom had a destroyed piece of toilet paper (it was otherwise clean). There was the sound of a generator in the evening.

We LOVED all the farm animals and loved the big private camp sites. We were in camp site C but walked around and looked at all them and every single one is big and private, but camp site C is probably the best if you need a really big site.
