On the northern boundary we border the pristine Mt Sugarloaf Reservoir stocked with Redfin and home to some beautiful wildlife.
We are in close proximity to some well known wineries of the region such Summerfields, Mt Avoca and The Pyrenees. Enjoy a quick day out to any of these wineries and it will be a day filled with delightful food and superb wine. If you'd rather enjoy the great outdoors, Number 1 will provide endless amounts of entertainment and fun outdoor activities.

This is an ideal spot for a quiet getaway or as a home base if you want to explore the surrounding areas of Dunolly or Dunolly itself.
Early mornings and late evenings you may be lucky to receive visits from Kangaroos. Camp freely around the designated campfire and enjoy an amazing star-gazing experience (on clear nights).
The water hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones. We swim in it occasionally but prefer to go to the lake. We cannot endorse any swimming or entering the water hole as it is a liability issue and we cannot be responsible for anyone who chooses to swim or enter the area of the waterhole.
Dunolly town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket.
Lake Laanacoorie 15 mins drive. Great for fishing, boats, and swimming.
***Pit-toilet (portable) available:
- There is a pit toilet available for camper use but it's recommended to have a portaloo and use the onsite dunny as an emergency only.
***Keep Clean.
-We ask that you take any rubbish with you when you leave. We would appreciate it if you could leave the property as you found it on arrival.
***Warning.
-Regular pest control in the area might be a threat to your pet so please ensure that your pet does not stray too far off the property without your supervision. Pest control is usually concentrated in the state forest behind the property.
***Fire Wood:
- You can BYO firewood or collect from the roadside. The state forest at the rear may be helpful but please don't cut down any trees. There is often a fallen tree that you can chop up if you have a chainsaw but it'll be easier to find on the roadside or BYO. If I'm able to provide firewood it'll be stacked but this is not something to depend on as it just depends on availability and time that I may not have.

-The campsite is close to the water hole which means it's also at the front of the property and approx 120m from the main road. You will see a vehicle passing by maybe once per hour in the daytime.

Gooseberry Hill is a flat safe paddock area that was once home to dozens of gold miners in canvas tents seeking their luck. It is ideal for campervans and caravans. Situated just on the outskirts of Dunolly, it is very close to town amenities. There is tap water on the site near the 150 year old apple tree near the main road. You are able to camp privately well back from the road.
The site once had brick buildings of shopkeepers and even a hospital - all now long gone. The double story hotel built in 1862 as a Cobb & Co coach hotel for the Gooseberry Hill gold miners, is the only building still standing.
The land had a vineyard at one time, and still has a small olive grove and quince trees.
It was used in the 1870's as a sporting ground with events such as brass bands, Lantern Parades and even a formal Ball in the adjoining Cobb & Co Hotel. It was a wild and rough time in the gold mining days with a double murder at the butchers shop on the site. There was also a Chinese Camp nearby, as well as gambling dens.
All the trees were removed in the 1860's for mining, but now vegetation is being restored.
At the rear of the property is the quarry and old diggings. it is an interesting walk but beware of old mining shafts and deep diggings. In summer time watch out for snakes. Kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas are all around the property.

Located in Victoria’s goldfields, 2 hrs NW of Melbourne, Amherst Farm Camp Site is secluded, quiet, off grid and private. There is only one large camping area on the 20 acre property that can be enjoyed by up to 5 people per group and up to 5 groups at any time. The fee applies to each vehicle/group.
The site is surrounded by farmland and has great views of Lillicur State Forest to the south. There is plenty to see and do in the region. You can visit historic gold towns, bike the Ballarat–Skipton Rail Trail, walk through state and national parks or visit pubs, restaurants, wineries and galleries.
The old gold town of Talbot is an easy 7km bike ride from the Camp Site. On weekends you can dine at the Talbot Pub or Fossickers Café. You can even try your luck at gold prospecting and hire a metal detector on site. Alternatively you can simply relax and enjoy the tranquillity and abundant wildlife.

There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more.
Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience.
Note : The reservoir is currently only open to electric powered boats and canoes.
Dogs are welcome but must be very well behaved around sheep. Flushing toilet available at the shearing shed. Good access for caravans and large RV's.
Amplified music is not allowed.
Local attractions are the historic towns of Maldon, Clunes, Avoca and Dunolly all part of the Central Goldfields. Pyrenees Wine region is a short drive away.

One camp site (one group only). The site accepts 8 people but if you are just two people you will have the place to yourselves except for the kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas and birdlife.
The campsite is situated next to our family's holiday farmhouse that we visit sometimes, but only when there are no guest campers. There is a fire pit with grill plates available to cook over the fire (note open fires cannot occur when fire restrictions are in place). Campers have access to the flush toilet, hot shower and kitchen in the house. The house is a work in progress. We are slowly renovating the house, so it is a bit rough but it is clean and functional and you will have the place to yourselves. Please respect the locked private areas of the house. Campers are expected to bring their own cooking pots, plates, cutlery, camp chairs, etc.
Only 4 km from Moyston where you can get great coffee and visit the historic Mine Walk. Halls Gap is 35km away or head through the mountains over Redmans Road that takes you the scenic route to Halls Gap (2WD accessible in dry weather). Kalymna Falls and picnic ground is a beautiful 15 min bush drive from the farm. We loved camping at Sarah and Adams property! We are blended family of 2 adults and 7 teenagers ranging from 13 to 18. We had a fantastic time relaxing by the creek and enjoying the stars.
Sarah and Adam were very responsive to messages and absolutely delightful to deal with. I bombarded them with questions and they were more than happy to answer each one thoroughly.
We have a pop top campervan and the kids had individual tents, there was plenty of room for all us. We will definitely be booking here again thank you for helping us create memories with our kids!

The site was clean and tidy. Views were spectacular. Swimming and fishing hole was just down a slight embankment from the camp site. Sheep and wildlife for company. Mark was great with directions and checked in a couple times during my 7 night stay with my dog.

We stayed at Creek Flat for the 3 nights, what a magical place! The creek was absolutely beautiful, the temperature of the creek was perfect 👌🏾 Grounds were flat where you could set up easy as well 👍🏾

Stayed on the property before in a different site. So I knew what to expect. Had a great time! The spot isn't super secluded, (overlooked a little by the main farm house), but we definitely had our own space and loved camping here. Easy river access to a shallow-ish spot. Would book again.

We had a great experience camping at Creek Flat, the area was flat, had been mowed. It has a small creek running through it, can catch trout and if you sit quietly in the late afternoon you will see platypus swimming in the creek up close and personal. Mark our host is excellent, warning of copperhead snake sighting, which you would expect in summer.

Great spot and fantastic hosts. Caught a trout in the dam and had a heap follow lures. Highly recommend.

Stayed at Nathan’s for 3 days the place was great well looked after all the sites looked great with nice views and fire pits, would recommend to others.

Unfortunately, it was a very very hot day. It was just all 40° but we didn’t stay long.
