Stringybark is a quiet 80 hectare rural property in the North East of Tasmania, featuring bush, native grassland and 4 beautiful lakes. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax, enjoy the views, the abundant wildlife and refreshing swims in the lakes on the property. If you feel like going for a wander, you can spend hours exploring the bush and native grasslands on the property and if you're keen on climbing the hill you get rewarded with amazing views over the Great Western Tiers. Why not take your mountain bike up there and enjoy the downhill ride afterwards? Sunsets are spectacular at Stringybark and the skies phenomenal during clear nights. Although it feels like the end of the world, surrounded by bush and wildlife, we're only 30 minutes drive from Launceston CBD, Ben Lomond National Park and Josef Chromy's winery and only a 20 minute drive from Launceston Airport, making it a perfect base to explore Launceston and surrounds. You need to be fully self contained and there are no amenities. But there is a beautiful lake with jetty to swim in. We live on the property, just a stone's throw from the camp site, so if you ever need anything, just shout out. Dogs are permitted, however strictly on lead only to protect the wildlife and our sheep. If your dog gets very excited around wildlife or sheep, this may not be a suitable stay, since they might come right up to your camp. Please note, that Stringybark is a working property. While we'll always respect your privacy and keep noise levels to a minimum, please be aware that we do work on the land and that tools, building material and other rural property stuff can be present at any time (never on the campsite though). Please ALWAYS supervise children and pets, particularly in the following areas: -bush and grass areas where snakes can be present most of the year -around the shed where we store farm materials -around our lakes which are not fenced in We're so excited to be sharing our piece of paradise with campers from near and far and from all walks of life :)

Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter. Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby. A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful! Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat. Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

You can cross the river and then you are on the bike track that will take you to Derby or Branxholm, this is a beautiful walking track or carry your bike across river then ride. Quiet location perfect place to stay for a few nights. Awesome quiet spot to get away. Property is on a working dairy/beef farm. Wood available for sale at camp to use in fire pits for just $10 a tub. We have just put in a private dump point for guest convince. WildWing Retreat is a beautiful 25 acre bush block in Four Mile Creek, located within a 15 minute (1km) walk, to the local surf beach of Four Mile. The property has been created to host retreats centred around nature immersion, movement and connection (i.e yoga, bodywork, dance, meditation, mindfuness, embodiment practices etc) and in the 'off season' it's available to host hipcampers! The space has been designed to host large groups, so there are full facilities available to use, including 3 x compost toilets, a fully equipped communal kitchen with all plates, bowls, cups and cutlery, pots and pans, gas cookers and fresh running hot and cold water. There is also an undercover deck/hangout area, a shower block with 5 hot showers, and a wood-fired cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). There are walking tracks throughout the property, including a track that leads directly to the beach (15 min walk) and another to our on-site fresh water creek for plunging in! We are surrounded by native wildlife and the property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno and Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We only open up 5 sites at a time, to ensure everyone has plenty of space and a beautiful experience on the land. Access height has been raised to 3.7meters. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions. There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning. The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition. FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. NO OUTSIDE WOOD CAN BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY AND BURNT. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. Please help us preserve the peace and beauty of this place. The Dragon River camp ground is one of the best places we have ever stayed! You have the whole massive site to yourselves and you are surrounded by lush green foliage with a river running past. We were lucky enough to get up early and see a platypus right near the site. The owners have recently added a sauna and plunge pool, which looked fantastic! This site was a highlight to our trip! 3 nights at Pandora Valley

Pandora Valley. Just starting out Andrew and his family are working hard to bring thrir small farm into what I can see is going to be in demand in the future. We stayed at Rapids, tucked away in a secluded corner with Scottsdale just down the road you would be forgiven in thinking you were on a farm a long way from anywhere. Kookaburras calling morning & night, Carnaby Cockatoos, fish in the riverlet that runs through the property. A few cows around but not a problem as they are fenced off. Big plans brewing, can't wait to come back and see the progress. Andrew & family are friendly hosts supplying us with fire wood and allowing us to run our genset outside of acceptable hours due to us being the only campers at the time of our visit. Sad to leave but we have to keep heading back to catch the ferry to the mainland. Til we meet again 😍

What a fabulous find this was. So quiet and private. Easy to find. We saw 2 platypus the 1 night we stayed. We highly recommend.

Kayaks for camper use. Bikes and other stuff for camper use in sea container on-site. You must try the homemade preserves as well.

Weekend Trip to Derby Frasers Flats

Beautiful peaceful spot nestled on a working dairy farm next to the Ringarooma river and has its own platypus population. HUGE Level sites, fire pits with wood available on site. Bikes, kayaks and other things available for use of campers. Town of Derby with walking distance and Branxholm on a few km away. However, you would think you are in the middle of nowhere. Easy access with our 21ft van. Rosie, our host, visits daily and is very friendly and helpful. We will return.

What an amazing site! No neighbours (other than a few cows in the neighbouring paddocks), amazing views, clean and tidy, perfect for us in swags/tents. In warmer weather that river looks ideal for a dip (maybe even fish?). Port-a-loo was tidy despite the rain and if you need a shower, cheap, Rotary supplied showers are 10 min down the road at Branxholm Centenary Park (card only). Can't recommend this place enough.

Camping place very spacious with wallabys and other animals around. Watching the stars was beautiful as it's more remote than other campsites. We went with a large RV and had no issues getting there. (:

Loved our stay at Fraser Flats, we were the only ones there but the owner met us and gave us some local recommendations, we loved falling off the kayaks going down the river, each site had its own firepit which was nice and the sunset there that night was beautiful

Lovely and quiet with a gorgeous outlook and close enough to Town if you need anything. We had a great sunny spot to enjoy the birdsong and read a book. Being able to access the creek via a lovely bush walk was really special, and the sunsets were spectacular. Laura and Andrew were the perfect hosts and we will definitely be back.
